by Chris Padgett on Aug.01, 2010, under Favorite Movie

Top 10 Movies for the last weekend in July.

1. Inception

2. Dinner for Schmucks

3. Salt

4. Despicable Me

5. Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

6. Charlie St. Cloud

7. Toy Story 3

8. Grown Ups

9. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

10. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Have you seen any of these top 10 movies? All of them are currently playing in most theaters nation wide. I haven’t seen any of them yet. The one I see being advertised the most on television, is the one called Dinner for Schmucks. This comedy does look pretty funny and I think I would enjoy watching it.

I recently saw the first Twilight movie. I thought it was an excellent movie and puts the fictional town of Forks, Washington on the map. Or is there really a town in Washington called Forks? It’s true, there is a town in Washington that goes by the name Forks and I’m sure the whole town is behind all of the great Twilight movies.

I believe there have been 3 Twilight movies done so far? Is this correct? I’m not sure what the 2nd Twilight movie is called. Maybe one of my readers can help me with that one. I think the 3rd Twilight movie is Eclipse and it is currently playing in theaters. It just barely hung on to the top 10 list for the July movies in their final week.

I look forward to some great movies coming out in August. I think fans will be excited too; when they get a chance to preview some of these new movies. I will talk more about the new August movies in a later blog post. Please let know any other information, about these exciting movies that go by the name of Twilight. The first Twilight movie is a must-see movie for everyone. I really enjoyed it and I think most people would. Now I need to go learn more about the number 1 movie Inception. I want to see what the Inception movie is about and if I might want to see it one day.

Michael Moore Scratches at Box Office

by Chris Padgett on Oct.08, 2009, under Favorite Movie

MichaelMoore

Michael, Michael, Michael is all it seems we are hearing these days in the news. A lot of Michaels making headlines and are any of them news worthy? We have heard from A-Z about the news of Michael Jackson’s death and that is one story that isn’t going away anytime soon. In Philadelphia we are hearing about the Eagles newest QB Micheal Vick and his return to the NFL. Between Michael Jackson and Michael Vick is there really any room left for another Michael in the news?

Well the latest “Michael” story is coming from Hollywood and it’s Michael Moore’s new movie Capitalism: A Love Story. This new movie from the controversial Moore came out on September 23rd and I still haven’t heard much about it. I did notice that this movie is still hanging on in the top 10 movies at the box office and that surprised me. This past week, Michael Moore’s new movie got 8th place at the box office. No matter if you like him or hate him, his movies do tend to get us talking and I hope his new movie continues down that road. I have actually thought a couple of his movies were pretty good and I usually do sit down and watch them when they are released for viewing on the movie channels I get on satellite TV.

It seems most people don’t like his movies because they have inaccurate information and feel he is choosing one side of the political party. I actually just see him taking shots at the American Government and really don’t see him drawing party lines. I don’t know what his political choice is when choosing between Democrats and Republicans, but we do need voices in America standing up for what they believe in. He may not always go about it in the best ways, but at least he is out there sharing his ideas and opinions and that is more than most of us do. I get angry and upset at certain things, but have no idea who to talk to or complain about my disputes with the Government. It seems the latest news on health care has got people speaking up at public forums in their local cities and hometowns and I think this could be another Michael Moore movie in the future. I have seen Sicko and know Moore gave his fans something there but this latest news on health care is really stirring folks up.

If you have seen the new Michael Moore movie and would like to comment; then please do. I would like to hear some opinions on the Capitalism: Love Story movie that Michael Moore has just created and see how his latest work stacks up with previous Michael Moore films. It should be interesting to see which Michael makes headlines next. I wouldn’t be shocked if we find out that David Letterman’s real name is Michael and the Letterman scandal makes it’s way into the Michael Jackson, Michael Vick, and Michael Moore headlines too.

Final Destination Tops All Movies

by Chris Padgett on Aug.31, 2009, under Favorite Movie

The latest box office results are in for this past weekend and it was The Final Destination that took the highest honors. This is the movie everyone (or most) people wanted to see in the last weekend of August. You may know this movie by another name and it was the 4th installment to the Final Destination movies. I think Final Destination 4 has a chance to do great things at the movies; since this latest one is in 3D. A 3D movie is always fun to watch and I think the experts are getting better with the 3D technology. I haven’t seen the 4th Final Destination movie yet; but would like to go see it in theaters right now. You can get a better experience seeing it on the big screen and I may just have to take a day off this week and go see this hot new movie.

Final Destination did get the top spot at the box office; while Inglorious Basterds finished 2nd. It was Halloween II that got 3rd place in the standings and rounding out the top 5 movies were District 9and G.I. Joe. The box office results show some really good movies in those top 5 spots and all seem like a movie that would be pretty good to watch. Another movie that caught my eye in the top 10 movies was Taking Woodstock. I think Taking Woodstock would be an interesting movie to watch and it looks like it has some good comedy scenes in it.

Is there any movies currently playing that you want to go see? Which movie would you watch if you only could pick one?

all-about-steve

I don’t see any spectacular movies opening this upcoming week. I would have to put Sandra Bullock’s newest movie as the one I would like to see most that will start playing this Friday. The name of her new movie is called All About Steve and it will be a PG-13 movie that falls under the comedy category. If you like Sandra Bullock and want to laugh a little this weekend; then All About Steve might be the perfect movie for you. Enjoy your time at the movies and don’t forget the extra butter on the popcorn!

Latest Box Office Results for the Movies

by Chris Padgett on Aug.12, 2009, under Favorite Movie

1. G.I. Joe

2. Julie and Julia

3. G-Force

4. Harry Potter

5. Funny People

6. The Ugly Truth

7. A Perfect Getaway

8. Aliens in the Attic

9. (500) Days of Summer

10. Orphan

Does any of these 10 movies interest you? These are the top 10 movies that movie-goers wanted to see this past weekend. Not a lot on that list I care to see and the blockbuster summer movies are beginning to wind down now. I’m not sure which summer movie caught my eye the most this year, but Hollywood did do a good job with their summer selections this year. Orphan is number 10 on the list and that movie is as attractive as the rest of the list to me. Perhaps my movie taste is a little different than yours and you see a few on the list you would like to watch.

New movies that open this weekend aren’t that great either (in my opinion). The list doesn’t have any clear-cut winners and here are some of the new movies that start on Friday:

* Bandslam

* District 9

* The Time Traveler’s Wife

* The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

* Grace

* It Might Get Loud

* Ponyo

* Spread

* Taxidermia

If you like a good funny movie; then The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard might be the one you want to see this weekend. I have seen this movie heavily advertised and it might be the top movie from the list of new movies debuting this weekend. The box office timing might just be perfect, since the kids are back in school now and we might see an increase of teens going to the movies this weekend. When you factor in the kids and the heavy advertising; The Goods may just put up a nice number in its openning weekend.

If I was going to the movies this weekend, I would probably select the Orphan over any of these movies, but chances are I won’t be standing in line for any of these movies. There just isn’t any that grab my attention and I do hope upcoming movies get more attractive soon. The movies now playing do tend to lean toward the youth and I think it is a good time for the kids to go see a movie. I’m sure they will be several choices they would like to watch this weekend. It’s just not that great for the adults, but the kids that are now back in school, may have some luck finding a movie they like.
