Eagles Put Michael Vick Back in the NFL
by Chris Padgett on Aug.14, 2009, under Blogging
He’s Bacccck!

Punishment over, time served, apologies made, and all the other obstacles Michael Vick had to endure; while pleading guilty to his involvement with dogfighting. Everything is now water under the bridge and the Hokie and Falcon star can get back to business as usual or can he? Will the NFL fans and animal rights groups let Vick off the hook now? Probably not and they will still be some trying to come after him and won’t let him off so easy. Now if you want to talk about abuse, I think anyone attacking Michael Vick now would have to fall in that category. If you want to punish him for his abusive actions; then we must learn when enough is enough. The man has served his time and paid for his crimes and now he needs a job and the Philadelphia Eagles have one available for him.
No need to visit the past or sugar-coat anything for Michael Vick. We all know he’s done wrong and he could have took steps to make things better but didn’t choose to. Anyone that thinks a millionaire athlete was spending all of his time around smelley dog cages and watching these dogfights are not thinking right. I’m sure he watched a few dogfights and maybe a few of these dogs lost their life directly from his hands; but I’m sure his friends was the main ones to blame and Vick paid the price due to his fame. Anyone choosing to go after Michael Vick now would have to be considered for human abuse. I think human abuse is a worse crime than animal abuse; so let’s now see who is the bigger person here.

I’m sure the Philadelphia Eagles fans are ready to talk about football and this is where all Michael Vick discussions should start and end. According to Rush Limbaugh, the current QB for the Eagles Donavan McNabb is only popular due to the fact he’s black. Not sure why these words got Limbaugh in trouble but he’s completey and 100 percent right. A black quarterback in the NFL does get a little extra attention; since so many others have been white. Asian baseball players get extra attention and the Europeans playing in the NBA get that bit of extra attention too. A lot more black quarterbacks are starting to play on Sundays and the extra attention is starting to fade.
Michael Vick is not only a convicted felon, but he’s facing the fact that his skin color is black and the fact he’s the fastest QB ever to play the position. Yes Ohio State Buckeye fans, I did see Pryor’s awesome 4.33 speed in the 40, but Mr. Vick is a tad bit quicker than that. No matter how you want to slice it, Vick will help the Eagles to win football games. The options are unlimited and the Atlanta Falcons never tried to view those extra options with such a talented athlete.
The NFL team from Philly can use Vick as a running back, wide receiver, kick-off returner, punt returner, and even throw him in the secondary on defense. I wouldn’t be surprise to see Vick near the line on defense and trying to rush a passer on passing downs. Not only would teams have to fear his speed at rushing the passer, but chances are a team would over block Vick, to make sure he isn’t the hero and this would create gaps for other Eagle defenders trying to sack the quarterback. I think it’s a good time to be a Philadelphia Eagles fan and they just added a player that will help them on Sundays.
The biggest loser now is the Atlanta Falcons and their fans. I really wish ESPN would re-air their special on Michael Vick, where they did a town hall meeting and discussed Michael Vick in-depth. Terrance Mathis was the star of the panel and his words spoke the loudest in that town hall meeting. He was speaking for the fans and talked about how that is our guy and how Atlanta was starving for that type of athlete. He was completely right and the Atlanta Falcons front office did a horibble job with the whole Michael Vick thing.
The Falcons have turned down Randy Moss and Terrell Owens due to their locker room behavior and try their best to stay away from the bad seeds. Some of these bad seeds can play football and that should be the first thing in any NFL front office. The Atlanta Falcons did have the power to have Michael Vick at quarterback with receivers like Owens and Moss.
Now fast forward a couple of years and the Falcons just signed Roddy White to a big deal that makes him the 3rd highest paid receiver in the NFL! Roddy White has a tendency to drop very easy passes and is not a number 1 wide receiver in the NFL. His stats will be up there, due to the fact Matt Ryan is a super quarterback.
The bottomline is that the Falcons organization didn’t support Vick when everyone in the world was against him. Sometimes in life our friends do things wrong and do deserve punishment, but as their friends, we don’t deliver any of that punishment. Especially when we know there will be enough going around. Arthur Blank failed big time with his comments against Vick and the way he treated him, when Michael needed his help and the Atlanta Falcons the most. It should be real interesting to see what happens in week 12 of the NFL season. That is when Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles come to the Georgia Dome to face Matt Ryan and the 3rd highest paid receiver in football. Expect the Vick jerseys to fill-up the Georgia Dome on December 6 and if Vick does get to touch the ball on offense, expect that Georgia Dome roar that fans know very well when Vick starts to run down field. The Eagles just got themselves a football player!
