Campfire Stories

by Chris Padgett on Apr.12, 2009, under Uncategorized

Do you know any good campfire stories? I know some of the best ones have been told over and over through the years. Most campfire stories are geared to scare you and those are the ones campers like most. I know popular movies that are horror related have helped with a few campfire stories.

If you know of a good story to tell by the campfire; then please pass it along. I’m looking for campfire stories to tell all ages of kids and even some for the adults too. Please tell me your best campfire story and thanks in advance.

LA Traffic for Motorcycles

by Chris Padgett on Mar.13, 2009, under Uncategorized

I don’t think I will ever be riding a motorcycle in Los Angeles anytime soon, but if I do, I will make sure I have good motorcycle accident lawyers Los Angeles before attempting it. An accident attorney is needed for every motorcycle rider in a major city and especially the ones riding their bikes in Los Angeles.

Rechargeable Batteries Needed

by Chris Padgett on Mar.13, 2009, under Uncategorized

We get use to anything in life that makes our lives easier. I’m not sure there is anything better than a remote control television. If we can’t find the remote control, we will walk around and look much longer; than if we had just went to the TV to change the channel in the first place. A remote control makes everything so much easier on us. Could you imagine if this technology wouldn’t have been invented? What our lives would be like if we had to get up and change the channel or fix the volume each time it needed adjusting.

I get to experience that type of life every once in awhile; when the remote batteries go dead. I never keep a supply of batteries on hand and it usually takes me a couple of days to make it out to the store, when the batteries do die on me. I need to break down and buy a new rechargeable battery set. It can be a little pricey to buy rechargeable batteries at first, but they do save you money in the long run. It would certainly save me time, if I could just recharge them and not have to worry about a trip to the store to buy new batteries. Now you can understand why I need rechargeable batteries!

Spring Supplies

by Chris Padgett on Mar.02, 2009, under Uncategorized

We are seeing snow right now on much of the U.S. east coast but Old Man Winter won’t be around too much longer and spring is just around the corner. The spring plungers and other supplies will be picked up soon at the garden and hardware stores. I know many home owners have waited all winter long to get busy on touch-ups around the house and they will have their chance soon. I know our yard needs a lot of work and the house is a never-ending job for us. Anyone that has leaky roofs will want to start taking care of them as soon as possible before all the spring rains get here. The weather does play a big part on when we start our spring cleaning and projects around the house, but you can go ahead and get started on the things inside the house you want to do now. You can shop for those indoor supplies to help you get started now and lots of good places online to shop. Reid Supply has a little bit of everything to help home owners get started and now is a good time to take care of the indoor touch-ups.  It may not seem fun now but when Old Man Winter returns in the fall, we will be glad of all the work we got done in the spring and summer time.

Shaq Dives into the Crowd

by Chris Padgett on Feb.28, 2009, under Uncategorized

Shaquille Oneal had a big night against Toronto scoring 45 points and Chris Bosh of the Raptors accused him of cheating on this big night. He claims that Shaq was camping out in the lane and the 3 second rule was not enoforced on Mr. Oneal. I didn’t see the game so I really can’t comment on Bosh’s statements, but I did see the dive into the crowd.

Shaquille Oneal is a very large man and when he dives into a crowd of people, they are going to either run or get hurt. It appears while hustling out of bounds against Toronto Friday night that Shaq had room to stop his momentum. His speed had a slight increase at the end before launching his self into the crowd. I think the NBA needs to review this very closely and even perhaps handing down a suspension. It would be the first of it’s kind, but some message does need to be sent to the league office. As an NBA fan, I don’t want to be in the path of Shaq and certainly in a situation that could have been avoided. There was no reason for him to dive into the crowd, but that didn’t stop this 300+ pound man from leaping into the laps of many spectators. Someone can have been seriously injured and for what? Perhaps Shaq was wanting a round of applause of his hustle and effort, but only “boos” need to rain down on him for that little stunt. I hope the NBA takes this matter seriously and suspend Oneal for a game or two, so it sends a clear message to other NBA players. The sport is about basketball and not showing off Mr. Oneal!

NBA All Star Weekend Here

by Chris Padgett on Feb.13, 2009, under Uncategorized

These two basketball games on Friday night are just the start of all the fun on NBA All Star Weekend in Phoenix. Saturday night we will get to watch the 3 point contest and see the very popular dunk contest. It should be interesting to watch Dwight Howard from Orlando go against little Nate Robinson from the Knicks. We will also get to see the HORSE game that will be played by a few NBA stars. This is the first year that players will battle each other in a game of horse and I think fans will really like this new addition to the NBA All Star Weekend.

Super Bowl Calories

by Chris Padgett on Jan.27, 2009, under Uncategorized

The big party is about to happen this Sunday when the Arizona Cardinals fly down to Tampa Bay to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl. I could see this game going either way, but I can only see my waist line going one way and that would be out! I’m preparing all the goodies for Super Bowl Sunday and I will be stuffed watching the game. I actually will use the telephone to call in my orders of pizza, hot wings and bread sticks. I think these are the best snacks to eat while watching football. You can stuff yourself right before the game and at halftime just warm it up again and eat some more. After the game you can just swallow a weight loss pill and it will make you feel better about eating so much. Go ahead and enjoy the game and there are no diets allowed on Super Bowl Sunday!

Save Time by Rubber Stamping

by Chris Padgett on Jan.05, 2009, under Uncategorized

Some small businesses waste a great deal of time by writing or typing the same message over and over each day. A personalize stamp could save a lot of time and make your message look more professional. The bigger companies use a rubber stamp system that not only saves them time but money each day. A new business or a small business that is looking to close the gap with their competition could look to rubber stamps for help. I wish bloggers had a rubber stamp system for certain posts they would like to put on their blogs. I guess for computer users it’s still the copy and paste system, but that doesn’t have to be the case for offline businesses. Check out the different rubber stamps that are available today and see if any of them make sense for your business.

Tech Gifts from Santa

by Chris Padgett on Dec.19, 2008, under Uncategorized

A new flash drive or a cable for the desktop computer is something little you may need for your setup right now. If I am going to buy you a gift for Christmas or a birthday gift, I want to give you something good; at least something that you will use and get something done with it. I hate getting gifts that I have no use for and I certainly hate giving them. I don’t want to sound like Grinch, but that’s just the way I believe. They say it’s the thought that counts, but I disagree with that and it’s really the gift that counts. So keep that in mind this year, if you plan to play Santa and get gifts for family and friends.

Obama’s Citizenship Blocks His Road to the White House?

by Chris Padgett on Dec.09, 2008, under Uncategorized

To be president of the United States there is a little thing in the Constitution that states you have to be a natural born citizen of this country. Apparently this little qualification isn’t important to the Supreme Court or that is what Judge Clearance Thomas said on the matter of Barack Obama’s citizenship. One lawyer filed a lawsuit stating Barack was born in Hawaii to a British citizen and this would make him half American and half British. Another lawsuit isn’t even given the newly elected president half of the citizenship and it states that Obama was born in Kenya and the records in Hawaii was falsified.

I can’t say where the man was born at, but I do see some statements now that are nothing like his campaign speeches. He said we needed change and he was the man that could do it. Now we are hearing that the economy is so bad it will take a long time to fix and it’s even going to get worse before it gets better. So when Barack Obama promised the citizens of this country change, he really didn’t mislead them, he just forgot to tell them it was a change for the worse. I’m willing to give Obama a chance on January 20th, but hearing the latest news of the false documents in Hawaii and now we also learn that Barack Obama is still smoking. Not sure why he would tell voters and the citizens living and working in this country that he had quit smoking; then after elected he informs us that he hasn’t totally quit. You factor these things in with the ties to terrorist Obama has and the church he was attending, that had a man preaching down on America and it’s good reason to give the people in this country concern or at least a raised eyebrow.

I’m not sure if any judge or court system in America is going to sit down and carefully review all of the lawsuits coming in. Obama is by no means sitting in the driver seat and he’s going to have to prove a lot to the people that didn’t vote for him on election day. I think with all of the latest news surfacing about Obama’s citizenship and that he is still a smoker; he may just have to prove his worth to the people that did vote for him on election Tuesday in November.

Just for the record I don’t consider myself a Republican or Democrat. I consider myself an American and I want the next president to succeed because it is for the better welfare of my country. No Republican here trying to take cheap shots at the newly elected democratic president. I think a birth in Kenya and creating fake documents in Hawaii is grounds to block his presidency if any of this ever comes to truth. I guess the fireworks won’t begin on January 20th and the new president is already facing the pressure that the 43 men before him had to face too.

Oil Prices Continue to Fall; 99 Cent Gas?

by Chris Padgett on Dec.05, 2008, under Uncategorized

I know most of us are happy to see oil prices falling, but the reason we are seeing them fall so low, is because of the bad economy. They will be a lot of people traveling this month to go shopping and to visit friends and families over the holidays. So the low prices at the pumps will be a good thing for the people traveling this December.

We may not see oil go back up anytime soon, because the economy is not going to improve anytime soon. The housing industry will be the sector that leads us out of these troubled times and that isn’t going to happen until June 30th of 2009. So we can expect bad economical times until then as Americans try to hold on. July will be a positive month in 2009 for the American economy and other world economies. Oil will probably jump to $3.50 a gallon then and prices should stay around $2 a gallon until then. One thing that would jump start our economy before July of 2009, would be a stimulus package that would put money into the hands of each American household. I think a few gas companies or gas stations will make a short term sacrifice and lower their regular unleaded fuel to 99 cents a gallon. We should see gas for 99 cents in the coming weeks!

Help with Structured Settlement Payments

by Chris Padgett on Dec.03, 2008, under Uncategorized

For almost 20 years Stone Street Capital has been helping people receive lump sum payments from money that was owed to them from Structured Settlements. You may have settled an agreement in the past where you would receive a certain amount of money each month or year from a business or even lottery winnings. Over time things may have got worse for you and you need that money sooner than it’s coming in. We all find ourselves in a pinch sometimes and need some financial assistance. You may have the opportunity to cash in those structured settlements for money today. This could help pay off some bills or take care of other cash emergencies.

A Structured Settlement can be the cure for your financial woes. Some people may have access to more cash than they realize right now. If you’re currently receiving money from a settlement that occurred in the past; Stone Street Capital’s team of qualified people can help speed up the process and get you a bigger lump sum now. I think a lot of people will be looking to cash-in structured settlements and anything else they can with the economy doing so bad these days. If you need your money now and can’t wait for your next payment; see if you can make a deal that will allow you to have a much bigger share of the money that is rightfully yours!

What’s on the Table for Thursday?

by Chris Padgett on Nov.24, 2008, under Uncategorized

What is going to be on your Thanksgiving tables this year? I can’t say for sure, but I know the typical things my mama cooks, so I have a pretty good idea what to expect for our family’s Thanksgiving feast. I know turkey and ham will be the meats we will be eating on Thursday. The vegetables will be green beans, mash potatoes, fried okra, corn on the cobb (just like the pilgrims had) and probably a big pot of soup beans. We will have dressing and giblet gravy along with some cranberry sauce. I like taking a bite of warm dressing and then cooling the mouth off with the cranberry sauce. Our bread for Thanksgiving will be homemade biscuits. We will have several desserts for our feast and I know sweet potato pie and a lemon pie will be two things that will be on the table. I’m sure there is a few more things that my family will be eating on Thanksgiving and I just can’t think of what those other items might be right now. I’m already getting hungry just talking about eating this meal, so Thanksgiving won’t get here soon enough for me! I hope you and your family have a pleasant Thanksgiving this year and your tables are just as full as mine will be on Thanksgiving!

Fantasy Team Does Well in Week 1

by Chris Padgett on Nov.05, 2008, under Uncategorized

My fantasy basketball season got off to a good start and my team went 11-2 in it’s first week. We play 13 games each week in my fantasy league and that’s how many stat categories we have. Things like points, rebounds, and assists are things we can win games on and determines how we did. Our fantasy basketball league starts on Monday and ends on Sunday. You get matched up with another team in the league and you play against that team for the whole week. So my first week I played against the High Flyin Hawks and my team’s name is Hotlanta Hawks. Our league does consist of owners from Georgia, but there is only 2 Hawk’s teams in our league. It was just coincidence that we played each other first in our 10 team fantasy basketball league.

The two stat categories or games I lost on were in the areas of field goal percentage and turnovers. The High Flying Hawks had 19 more percentage points in the field goal race and my team had 2 more turnovers than his team. The other 11 stat categories I won in, so that is the reason my record now stands at 11-2. I barely won the “free throws made” stat and my team had 115 and the High Flying Hawks had 113. The offensive rebound stat was even closer than that and I only won that stat by 2. I don’t mind losing the turnover and field goal percentage games, but I do focus on the other 11 stats. I do need to improve my team with players that can get more offensive rebounds and with players that get to the free throw line more. I really done well in the points category and won that by 90. So maybe trying to figure out a way to trade some of those points for some offensive boards and guys that make a lot of free throws.

I really like my team and I am very balanced. I may not have a team that is good at any one stat, but I’m hard to beat across the board. So I won’t let teams beat me easily and I should be competitive in most of the stat categories each week. I do have a team of thieves and I got a lot of steals last week. My team had 46 steals and my opponent’s team got only 32. So if there was one stat that I am currently thriving in, it would be the steals category and I might go undefeated in that stat category all year long. I’m sure injuries will come into play shortly and that might change the whole make-up of my team. Michael Redd is my first injury and his status for Wednesday’s night game is uncertain right now. It’s nothing major and just a bad ankle he hurt the other night. Even if he does suit up and play tomorrow night, I already have plans to keep him on the bench.

The players I am counting on the most in my fantasy basketball league are Dwayne Wade my first round pick and then guys like Tracy McGrady, Ron Artest, Vince Carter, and my favorite player Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks. I will be riding these guys back and trying to surround them with the best players possible. I’m keeping up with the whole NBA right now and plan to stay that way until my team can be comfortably in first place. There were two other teams in my league that went 11-2 last week, so right now I am in a 3 way tie for first place. This week the Hotlanta Hawks will play the Warriors and their team was 7-6 last week. So they had a winning week too, so one of our two teams will lose their first match-up this week.

2 More Days: Obama or McCain?

by Chris Padgett on Nov.02, 2008, under Uncategorized

It will be a long two days, but I sure will be glad when this election stuff is over with and we can go back to life as usual. It gets old seeing the same old political ads on television and seeing which candidate can put the other down the most. We never get to hear things that each candidate stands for or how they will make things better. We just hear why we shouldn’t vote for the other guy.

I don’t think any ticket is too attractive for the presidential election, but I would have to lean for McCain/Paulin ticket as of right now. I’m not a registered voter and I don’t plan to be one anytime soon. I don’t care to do jury duty and I don’t think your vote really counts anyways. I’m not sure how much value goes in these polls, but it seems like they have a grasp on who might win the 2008 presidential election. All signs point to Obama being our next president, but I love an underdog and would be happy to see John McCain pull out a little magic at the end.

The presidential election has been covered way too much on our 24 hour news stations and can’t wait until they get back to talking about things that are more news worthy right now. I do hope a president is named by noon Wednesday November 5th and there is no debate or lingering effects like we had back in 2000 with Al Gore and George W. Bush. The local ads get on my nerves too and can’t wait to see them gone from my television set. So just two more long days and we can put this 2008 election in the books and start dreading the next presidential election that will happen in 2012.

Children’s Hospital Christmas Card Donations

by Chris Padgett on Oct.30, 2008, under Uncategorized

The Gallery Collection made a very nice gesture and donated 800 Christmas Cards to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. It’s great to see people and businesses donating their time, money, or products to a great cause. I think a children’s hospital is a great cause and the one in Cincinnati, Ohio got a nice gift from GalleryCollection.com. Please be sure to help the people out that are less fortunate than us and there is no better time to donate than the holiday season. I’m sure those kids in Cincinnati got a big boost from seeing those cards and I wished I had been there to see the smile on their little faces. I also think the people working with these kids everyday like to see donations come in like this too.

You can design and make your own holiday cards this year. If you’re looking to make Personalized Christmas Cards, be sure to check the ones at GalleryConnection.com. They have a nice selection to choose from and easy instructions to follow for you to get your Christmas Cards just right. It’s a much nicer touch sending out a personalized card than the standard Christmas cards you normally buy. They offer a lot of other cards too that fit other occasions and holidays. You can find Thanksgiving, wildlife, business, calendar, die-cut, and other great cards you can personalize and send to friends and family. The most appealing thing is the price and the bigger quantity you buy, the cheaper you will get your cards. I love the fact that all the card designs are the same price regardless of what greeting, personal message, or envelope you choose. Give it a try and you will find it’s much easier to get your Christmas or greeting cards online than to go to the mall or a local store and purchase them.

Obama or McCain? VOTE NOW!

by Chris Padgett on Oct.25, 2008, under Uncategorized

Who is your vote going for on November 4th? Or perhaps you have already voted and took advantage of the early voting process that is available in many parts of the country. I don’t register to vote, because I don’t want to do the whole jury duty thing. Most people that get selected for jury duty, come from the voters of your community. I also don’t believe my vote counts. The electoral votes is what determines the winner and you can only hope that the person representing your area votes with the popular vote. Fraud in voting machines has also cast a dark shadow on the whole voting process in America.

Obama is the Democrat and McCain is the Republican and I don’t refer to myself as either one. I am an American and I see no reason to follow a party line and I believe a good idea, law, or policy is a good one, no matter which party came up with the idea. I think they should just count up all the votes in any election and determine the winner with the popular vote. We don’t need the electoral college anymore and times have changed. It’s an out-dated system and we have 24 hour news stations and the internet to keep us dumb people informed now. We don’t need anyone representing our vote and let’s do away with the electoral process should be priority number 1 for this country.

I think the perfect ticket would be Joe Biden for President and John McCain as Vice President. When I compare Barack Obama with Paulin, I give the nod to Paulin. So my vote on this blog post goes to the McCain/Paulin ticket.

Be sure to leave your vote and let me know who you would like to see get elected on November 4th.

Atlanta Thrashers Start Season Tonight

by Chris Padgett on Oct.10, 2008, under Uncategorized

The puck will drop tonight and the Atlanta Thrashers will get their 2008/2009 season off and running against the Washington Capitals. I like what the Thrashers have did in the off-season and they should be a tough team to beat this year in the NHL.

The Thrashers look like they will be a better defensive team this year and I think that will be a big plus for Thrasher fans. Mathieu Schneider was a huge addition on the defensive side and I can’t see many teams scoring on the Atlanta Thrashers this year. The problem might also consist of the Thrashers not being able to score and their defense will be key into keeping the team close in the 3rd period with a chance to win. The Atlanta Thrashers rank 26th in the power rankings and I can understand why the hockey community thinks this way. I think they will prove to be much higher than that, if they can stay healthy and the defense does hold teams to 3 goals or less a game. A team that can score 4 or more goals in a game, will be the games the Thrashers will lose, because they just don’t have the offensive firepower to score 4 goals this season. If the chemistry blends well at the start and we can make a trade later on in the season for a big time offensive player, the Atlanta Thrashers could make the NHL playoffs this year.

The Washington Capitals sniper from Russia will test the Thrasher defense tonight and Ilya Kovaluchuk will need to knock a few pucks in the basket to help the Thrashers get off to a winning season. The two Russian players will be the featured match up and the winner of this individual battle, might just prove which team skates away with a win tonight. I’m sure Thrasher fans and just hockey fans in general are glad that the NHL season is finally here and it all gets started tonight!
