Mystery: Who Shot This Video?

There is currently a search under way to find the creators of this video below. The person that posted this on YouTube didn’t know where the original footage came from and now an intense search is in progress to find the makers of this video. It’s a story of two guys that are traveling from Los Angeles to New York and they have a camera mounted to the back of their car for the whole trip. Please watch the video below and any information you know about this video; then please relay it along!

MYSTERY VIDEO

Please reply if you have any knowledge concerning this video!

Now the singer you hear on the video is the daughter of Sally Struthers (Gloria -All In the Family) and her name is Sam Rader. She is a very talented musician that taught her self. Sam Rader began writing music in her early twenties and was inspired by artists like Paul McCartney, Lenny Kravitz, Fiona Apple, Radiohead, Tori Amos, Nick Drake, Beck, Jeff Buckley and Jason Falkner. She has now created her debut album Goldstar Galaxy and it includes 7 songs. One of the songs on that album is named “Grey” and it’s the song you hear in the video above. Sam has been playing to a loyal and devoted audience for the last 7 years and now you have the chance to listen to her music for your self. The lovely daughter of Sally Struthers is described to have a “sensual voice and distinctive melodies are as beckoning and satisfying as sun-warmed sand.” I like how they used the “sun-warmed sand” to describe Sam Rader and just hearing someone described in that way makes me want to hear their singing. If you would like to hear more of Sam Rader, you can order from one of the links below:

iTunes or CD Baby

Be sure to pass the word around and let’s solve the “Grey” Mystery! Let’s make sure we let the people know that their video of two guys driving from L.A. to New York is being shown all over the internet right now! They deserve the credit and to let them know just how rad they are!

Top 10 Guitar Songs

I see that Guitar World’s 100 Greatest Guitar Solos is on a list now. I was surprised that Money For Nothing by Dire Straight was not in the top 10 on that list. I think that is one of the best guitar solos I have ever heard. It starts at the very beginning of the song and that’s guitar playing to me. Another song I like is Sweet Child O’Mine by Guns N’ Roses and that guitar is at the beginning too. I like both of those songs in the way they take off right from the start with the guitar.

Their top 10 list goes as follows:

1. Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeplin

2. Eruption by Van Halen

3. Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd

4. Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd

5. All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix

6. November Rain by Guns N’ Roses

7. One by Metallica

8. Hotel California by the Eagles

9. Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne

10. Crossroads by Cream

Those are 10 great songs and its hard to deny that any of those songs don’t belong on the top 10 list too. They are some really great guitar players that are playing those songs above and I think a lot of us would consider them the best of the best. You know you have to include people like Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix when the word guitar is just mentioned. Eddie Van Halen is certainly someone that can hold his own and is a hero to a lot of guitar players. You don’t drop too far down the list when you start naming guys like Slash from Guns N’ Roses, Jimmy Page from Led Zeplin, Kirk Hammet from Metallica, Randy Rhoads with Ozzy Osbourne, and David Gilmour with Pink Floyd. Some bands have two great guitar players and you usually have to talk about both if you talk about one. Joe Walsh and Don Felder are both great with the Eagles. I know many people love Gary Rossington from Lynyrd Skynyrd, but you have to include Allen Collins too from Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Who are your favorite guitar players? I know the list goes on and on and you can still talk about guys like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Chuck Berry, Dimebag Darrel, Eric Johnson, Ritchie Blackmore, Brian May, Mark Knopfler, Tom Morello, Marin Barre, Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani. Are any of these guys your favorite? Please let me know if I left off anybody.

Carie Underwood Comes Up Big!

carrie_7.jpg

The American Music Awards 3 hour show last night was pretty entertaining to watch. Chris Daughtry had a good night racking up awards and I really like the Duran Duran performance. While the room was full of stars like Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Kid Rock, Amanda Bynes, Ferige and Rascal Flats, the brightest star shining was Carie Underwood. She won 3 awards last night and these awards are voted on by the fans, so they probably mean more to the stars than some of the other award shows.

carrie-underwood1.jpg

Wearing an unusual white dress the young country star made her way up to the stage on 3 different occasions. Each time she spoke after winning an award, you could tell there was a genuine appreciation for the award she had just won. Justin Timberlake’s via satellite speeches were weak and you could tell that he could care less about the American Music Awards show. I think it’s that southern hospitality that Carie Underwood has, is the reason she is where she is at right now. I also think it will play a huge factor in where she goes from here. I think Justin’s popularity is going to take a huge backslide as his two speeches had very little motivation in them and the fact that he didn’t feel like this award show was important enough to be there for in the first place.

Congratulations to Carie Underwood for a job well-done and representing the other country music artists that are out there too.

Kid Rock Arrested at a Waffle House

I see two of my favorite things came together over the weekend. Kid Rock who was performing near Atlanta at a place called Tabernacles, decided to stop by for a late night lunch. It was at a Waffle House; which stays open 24 hours a day and at this Waffle House a man came in yelling at a woman with Kid Rock. Now the man left and went outside and broke a window with his fist. After the window got broken; is when Kid Rock and his people ran into the parking lot at this Waffle House. A fight then broke out and several people were arrested and this included the famous Detroit Rock Star. Kid Rock did make bail, but his mug shot is now being shown all over the internet and the news channels.

I like a lot of Kid Rock songs and wish I could have seen him at the Tabernacle. The event was sold out and went pretty late into the night. It was around 3 or 4 AM on Sunday Morning when Kid Rock and his people stopped at this Waffle House. The Waffle House is a great place to cure the late night munchies. They have more than just waffles and you can get hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, or you can eat the breakfast menu at anytime during the day or night. The hashbrowns are really great and you can add a variety of toppings to them. You can get them smothered, scattered, covered, etc…, that’s the fancy way of describing what type of toppings you want on your hashbrowns. The chili is world-famous and that’s one of the things that many will add to their hasbrowns. Maybe Kid Rock had a chance to enjoy his  scattered and smothered hashbrowns before he got taken to jail.

Elton John #1 Song of All Time

Ok, I finally made it to number 1! I haven’t heard any complaints yet, so maybe I got this Elton John top 5 thing down ok? Hey Elton……if you’re reading this and you see my top 5 songs for you, please let me know how I done? I would love to hear how you would rank your top 5 songs!

Now is there really any doubts to what Elton John’s number 1 song of all time really is? There should only be one song that you think of, when you hear the name “Elton John”. I think Sir Elton John made this song so good that it’s not only being played on the radio still today, but I would imagine I will hear this song on the radio for the rest of my life. I won’t bore you with any more details and I will just go ahead and unleash the best song ever by Elton John!

The Number 1 Song by Elton John

Did you guess the right song for number 1? Did I pick the right one?

Yes, that is Elton John’s number 1 song of all time. It was a song dedication to one of the most popular actresses ever in America. Marilyn Monroe is just as big now, if not bigger when she was alive. She’s a jewel in many American’s Hearts and all of her accomplishments still live today, much like Elvis Pressley. The interesting thing about Candle in the Wind, was how a British Singer thought so highly of an American Actress to sing this song so beautifully and passionately; the way Elton John sung it.

It gets even more amazing when this song got brung back to life. A song that was dear to so many Americans and helped them cope with losing someone like Marilyn Monroe; was once again the medicine for another country. This time the trajedy struck in England, where Elton John is from and it was when they lost Princess Diana to a horrible automobile accident.

That horrible day will never be forgot by the British or American people and still so many questions still remain unanswered about that horrible crash that took the life of someone so young and still had so much more to give to the world in Princess Diana. It was unthinkable to think Elton John could use Candle In the Wind and turn around the lyrics to pay a tribute to Princess Diana. Not only did he do it, but the song for Princess Diana is just as good as the original one. So when you hear Candle In the Wind and you hear the name Norma Gene; you can rest assure many people will only think of Marilyn Monroe and now Princess Diana.

I don’t know how you did this Sir Elton, but my hats off to ya mate! So no way do I leave this 2nd edition of Candle In the Wind off, without paying tribute to both women that this song deals with. I’m not sure that any one man has ever brought two countries more together; than this one song that Elton John did for an American Beauty and a Princess from England.

Elton John #2 Song

Well were almost done with the 5 greatest songs by Elton John. I have already done the fifth, fourth, and thrid best songs ever by Elton John! So now I get to put in the 2nd best song ever by Elton John. This is one of the first songs that come to my mind when I think about Elton John.

This song was on the 1972 Album Honky Chateau. In 2004 Rolling Stone made a list of the 500 Greatest Songs of all time and this song was number 242 on the list and it ranks 2nd on my list of the best songs ever by Elton John. The song has been in cartoons like Family Guy and Futurama, as well as other popular cartoons. A baseball pitcher that is popular in New York and Houston would have this song playing at the ball park, every time he got brought out of the game. So to bring back a little bit of that music from 1972, here is the final song on the countdown, before we get to the top Elton John song of all time.

2nd Best Song by Elton John

So there you have the 2nd greatest song ever by Elton John!

There’s no room now for anymore songs, except for the best one ever. That is what will be up next and we will find out which song goes to number 1 on the countdown! The pitcher that was mentioned above was Roger Clemens just in case if you were wondering which pitcher I was talking about. So hang around and see what song I give the top honors to for number 1. Feel free to tell me the way you would rank the 5 best songs ever by Elton John.

Elton John #3 Song

We reached the middle of the countdown for Sir Elton John’s top 5 songs ever! You can go back and see what songs finished at 5th and 4th on the countdown. It’s tough choosing only five songs to list from Elton John, but I am scatching my head and trying to get this thing done.

Number 3 on the list is big in sales and the movie it was associated with. This isn’t one of the older classics that Elton John sang, but it has to be included in any top 5 you would do from Elton John. This song was really big and even today this is probably one of the most played songs on the radio by Elton John. If your kids don’t know the song, I’m sure they know the movie. They would probably hear this great Elton John song and would say something like “hey, that’s from the ______”; and would name this movie.

3rd Greatest Song by Elton John

3 down and 2 to go in the top 5 songs by Elton John. This gets much harder with only 2 spots left, to try and put in the 2 best songs ever by Elton John. Stick around and see what song will be number 2 on the list next. Any thoughts or suggestions on what 2 songs you think are the greatest by Elton John?

Elton John #4 Song

This is the list of the 5 greatest songs ever done by Sir Elton John. I have already got number 5 up and now I get to bring you the 4th song on the list. This is a song that might have got lost in the shuffle a bit. It was played on a few select radio stations from time to time, but a movie came out a few years ago that brought the song back in the spotlight. If I would have did this list 10 years ago, I would probably have left this song off. Thanks to the movie that featured this song, it was fresh in my mind and it really is one of the top 5 songs Elton John has ever done.

Be sure to let me know how I’m doing on the countdown. How would you rank the top 5 songs ever by Elton John? So witho further ado, here is number 4 on the Elton John countdown.

4th Best Song Ever by Elton John

Bonus Clip from the Movie

So the 5th and 4th songs have been decided. Now comes the hard part as I only have 3 more spots to put the top 3 Elton John songs in place. Be sure to check back soon and see what song gets the 3rd spot in these top 5 songs by Elton John.

I’m sure if 10 people came up with a list of top 5 songs by Elton John they would all be different. So I won’t be surprised if some of you think my top 5 list is off. Trying to get that down to just 5 songs is going to be a monumental task.

Guns N Roses #1

Give me the drumroll please………….we now have the top song by Guns N’ Roses in the 5 best songs we have featured here at My Favorite Blank. If you have missed any of the previous songs I have done from GNR, then please just go back on my blog and you can find the 5th, 4th, 3rd and 2nd best songs that Guns N Roses has performed.

Now there is one song that comes to mind when I first hear the words “Guns N Roses”, so I’m probably sure you have a song in your mind right now. Is it the greatest song they ever done? You can’t mistake this song for any other, because when you hear the guitar start this song off, you know right away what it is. It’s one of the most familiar guitar solo introductions that has ever been recorded in rock music. I think Dire Straight’s song Money For Nothing has one of those guitar solo introductions that is really good. This GNR song is right up there with Dire Straight’s song and is more popular due to the fact that Guns N’ Roses had more success.

I would really love to see GNR get back together but I’m not sure if we will ever see that. It seems Axl and Slash just don’t get along too good these days and probably by the time they are old and much more forgiving, they will be too old to put out anything good. Heck, I might be too old to want to listen to anything like that either!

No one could have imagined just how successful this band that formed in Los Angeles, was going to be on the rock scene. When they did arrive on the scene there was more of a glam metal that was taking to the airwaves on radio. GNR put a much grittier version of this out and the fans loved it, because they had never heard anything like their style. There was no band bigger from 1988 to 1993. These were the golden years from the greatest band ever and man did they ever put out the music in those 5 years. They just didn’t rest on the previous songs they had done, they kept the gas pedal of success press to the floor as they charged through the world in those 5 years.

Actually Axl is still a part of Guns N Roses, but he is the only one of the original members that remain. If you count his start in 1985 then you can say he’s been the lead singer for over 20 years now. However, it’s not the 20 plus years that is important here, because it was the 5 years when the band was all together and ran like a well-oiled machine that put them on top of the world. They are already the greatest band ever in my opinion, it’s unthinkable if these guys would have stayed together another 5 years, just how much control their music would have over the radio today.

So if you’re ready for the greatest song by the greatest band in the world, then I won’t make you wait any longer. Hold on, because now we will get to hear Slash take us to the start with that great guitar introduction that he does on this greatest song ever by Guns N Roses.

THE GREATEST SONG BY GUNS N ROSES EVER!!!

So how did I do? Did I pick any songs in my top 5 that you would have in your top 5 for Guns N’ Roses?

Please be sure to let me know in what order you would rank the 5 best songs by GNR. You see my 5, and that’s the way I have the greatest band in the world ranked up!

Guns N Roses #2

The 2nd all time greatest Guns N’ Roses song is the focus now. We have already went through the 5th, 4th, and 3rd best songs of all time by GNR. The 2nd greatest song the band has ever done is one that gets you in the partying mood. It’s a song full of energy and it gets you pumped up.

The 2nd all time greatest GNR song is from their debut album of Appetite for Destruction. It was listed as the very first track on the album. So you have a feeling that Guns N’ Roses wanted this to be the very first song people heard when they listened to their music. It was a great song for them or any band to announce their coming to the rock scene. This song is still considered one of the best rock anthems of the 80’s and today it is still played at many sporting events worldwide.

The 2nd best song ever by GNR was inspired by a homeless man and the lyrics of this song was written by Axl Rose and the music by Slash. Apparently they picked up the man in New York and he kept yelling the words: “You Know Where You Are?” “You’re in the jungle baby, you’re gonna die!” Axl was so impressed with the hitchhiker he made this into one of the best songs that GNR ever did.

2nd Best Song Ever by Guns N’ Roses

So now we have the 4 best all time songs by Guns N Roses done! We just now have 1 more left to do and it will be tough to list that final song by GNR. So many great songs done by this band and they are without a doubt one of the best bands of all time. Stick around and see what song gets placed as the best song by Guns N’ Roses ever!

Guns N Roses #3

GNR’s 3rd best song is the focus now as we continue to work our way up to the top song by Guns N’ Roses. You can go back and see what the 4th and 5th best songs were at My Favorite Blank. The song that is at number 3 could easily be the number 1 song by Guns N Roses because of all the popularity this song got. The video took a lot of people to make this video and it’s probably one of the more costly videos by GNR.

Now the video starts off with Axl Rose the lead singer for Guns N’ Roses sitting down at a piano. It takes a little time before the story starts to unfold. Once it gets going, the whole video tells a story and is easy for anyone to follow it in the video. Now one of the big awards in this video might be one that your not aware of. Slash the guitar player for Guns N’ Roses actually won an award for his solo guitar performance in this song by GNR. It was considered the best guitar solo in a rock song of all time. It’s not just the best guitar solos for a GNR song, but for any other band too! There’s been so many great guitar solo in songs it’s hard to just award one guitar player the award, but according to the way one place did the award system, it was giving to Slash in the 3rd best song of all time by Guns N’ Roses.

I hope you enjoy this video and there’s not been a year that goes by that I don’t think about this song. The title of the song happens every year and when it happens, I think of this song. It’s also happens close to my birthday every year as my birthday falls in the same time frame as the title of the song.

Guns N Roses 3rd Best Song of All Time

So there you have 3 of the top 5 songs by Guns N’ Roses. What do you think of the countdown to this point? Is these 3 songs in your GNR top 5? Feel free to list your top 5 songs and let me know in what order your top 5 go. I still have the top 2 songs from Guns N’ Roses on the shelf and I will be pulling them out in the very near future. So be sure to stick around and see what song scores number 2 on the top 5 songs by one of the greatest bands ever!

Guns N Roses #4

After showing the 5th best song ever by Guns N’ Roses we move up to number 4 on the countdown. The 4th best all time song by GNR is a fast song that gets you in the mood to party. I have heard this song frequently at parties and in bars where everyone always wants to sing along.

Guns N’ Roses have done so many songs and doing just 5 songs from this band is tough. I think there are no doubts you have to include this song in any list for the top 5 songs by GNR. For anyone having trouble getting started in the mornings, then just add this song in your car stereo and fire it up when you leave for work in the mornings. It will wake you up and prepare you for the day’s work.

Guns N Roses Top 5 Songs

GNR is one of the greatest bands ever! I’m not sure if there has ever been another band that has put out as many quality songs as these guys have done. Led by their lead singer Axl Rose, this band has put together music that will be around decades from now.

I wanted to try and breakdown the 5 greatest songs that Guns N Roses have done over the years. I will start with number 5 and work my way up to the greatest song ever by GNR. Over the next couple of weeks I will slowly reveal each song and leaving a little drama to what is the greatest song the band has ever done.

Starting off with the 5th best song that Guns N’ Roses has ever done, is a song that starts out with a very catchy whistle. For any true GNR Fan this whistle is just as popular as the whistling tune from the Andy Griffith Show. While I can’t whistle this as good as Axl or for that matter, I can’t even whistle the one from Andy Griffith; the guys from GNR could do the whistle and you get to hear it with the 5th best song ever by GNR.

5th Best Guns N’ Roses Song

Stay tuned and see what song will be the number 1 of all time from Guns N’ Roses!

Lynyrd Skynyrd #1

Was there ever any doubts which song would fall first in this top 5 countdown? There’s a lot of debating you can do for the top 5 songs by Lynyrd Skynyrd, but only 1 song can be put at number 1. Just to hear the first sounds of that guitar whailing away at the beginning of this song will run chills up ya. It’s songs like that and people that sings songs like that are still around many decades after originally recording them.

There might have been a horrible accident that took away the physical appearance of Lynyrd Skynyrd, but the soul of them original fellers from Jacksonville, Florida can still be felt today. When you listen to this song here, you can rest easy knowing about the horrible faith of some of those members that didn’t survive the crash. You can feel the passion in the way they sung this song and I really believe they were FREE. It’s almost like they knew what was going to happen and they decided to make this song so everyone could rest more easier about them.

An interesting trend started to take place in the early 80’s and can still be heard at concerts today. I’m not exactly sure how it started, but it is very popular to yell the name of this song out at concerts. No matter what singer or group is on stage, you can usually always hear at least one person shout out “PLAY SOME FREE BIRD!”

Lynyrd Skynyrd #2

Moving right along in the countdown to the all time best song by the legendary band Lynyrd Skynyrd; we move into the 2 spot now. Don’t worry if you missed the 5th best, 4th best, or 3rd best song of all-time by Lynyrd Skynyrd. You can go back through my blog here and look for all the songs in the top 5 countdown to Skynyrd’s Best!

It brings a smile to my face and apparently many others too, anytime you start to hear the first notes of this song being played on the radio. Perhaps you here it often in a bar, a truck stop, or on the jukebox at your favorite restaurant, wherever you hear it, you definitely know the song. This is probably the most popular song by the band and the one that most people associate with Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Anytime a song can find it’s way into our pop cultural society and appear on sitcoms, cartoons, and the big Hollywood movie screens, it’s a safe bet that the song is approved by all music lovers, races, and generations. It’s these songs that have stood the test of time and no one really knows how to bottle this secret potion or we would remember a lot more songs from long ago. It’s only the special ones that survive the hands of time and there is no doubts about this 2nd all time song by Lynyrd Skynyrd that is has done just that.

You know a song has crossed the generation gaps when a plane crash that happened almost 30 years ago took away the heart and soul of the band, and I can right now hear my 14 and 12 year-old nephews sing a lot of lyrics to this song. Not to mention all the kids that are even younger than them and they can belt out a line or two of this all time classic song by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Now some people might be shocked on exactly where the band Lynyrd Skynyrd is from. I’m sure a lot of the confusion has to do with this song I am referring to at number 2 on the countdown. They are actually from Jacksonville, Florida. If you was thinking they were from another southern state, then don’t worry, you’re not alone. It’s actually a good trivia question, just make sure the guy asking the question knows the right answer too!

It’s true, the boys that made up Lynyrd Skynyrd attended Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. It was in high school where the boys met up and history was about to be made at this high school in Florida. This is also the same high school where the band would eventually get their band name, which is still very popular today. There was actually a teacher there that had the name Leonard Skinner who also helped out with coaching the basketball team at Robert E. Lee High School. The band took his name and just threw the letters around some and voila! The name Lynyrd Skynyrd became a word that was as popular as any word Webster had to throw out.

So sit back and relax to one of the greatest anthems that is played on the FM dial today. I’m sure if you was in your car this is one of those songs you want to roll down the windows and turn up the radio and sing it just as loud as you can!

The 2nd Greatest Song by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Is that just a great song or what? Not sure anyone knows the right formula of making a song that goes through one era of time and enters a new one just as strong as the one it left, but there’s no doubts this song has done that and continues to do that in 2007!

Now I can’t just put one video up of perhaps the greatest song Lynyrd Skynyrd has ever done, so here are more variations of what has been done with the song since the 1970’s:

Lynyrd Skynyrd #3

As we move up the ranks of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s greatest songs of all time, we are at number 3 now. This is a good video for anyone needing information on the band. If you ever wondered about which members passed away in the plane crash and which ones didn’t, then you will be able to know if you watch the end of this video. The video will start out showing you the members of the band and matching up their names. So you can see who Ronnie Van Zant (lead singer) was and the rest of the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The tragic plane crash that happened in October of 1977 in Mississippi; took away the heart and soul of this band way too soon. Who knows just how much more great music this band would have achieved, if they had been given the opportunity to do so? In the short amount of time these guys were all together, they made some really great music that has stood the test of time. Their music is just as popular now, if not more popular than it was in the late 70’s.

I’ve got a lot of really good friends that are or were big fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd. A couple of my friends that were such big fans of the band have passed away too. One was 29 and the other one was 34 when they were taken much too soon from this world too. The 34 year-old friend I had was like a brother to me and we were very close. He was around when my 29 year-old friend got killed on a motorcycle and he was very close to the guy that got killed on the motorcycle. I remember so many times that we sat around and talked about our friend and how Lynyrd Skynyrd was such a big influence on him. Now he is no longer with me and I know the one song by Lynyrd Skynyrd that he liked the best.

It’s the song that is number 3 on my countdown of the greatest songs of all time by Lynyrd Skynrd. If you missed the 5th best song by Lynyrd Skynyrd and the 4th best song by Lynyrd Skynyrd on the list, then you can easily go back and check them on my blog here at My Favorite Blank.
