Where To Get Gold for Investment Purposes

by Chris Padgett on Aug.13, 2010, under Favorite Blog

Going out to a pawn shop or trying to strike it rich at a yard sale with gold isn’t very likely. You probably can find some in the pawn shops, but in most cases the owners will have it priced at the right amount. Your chances for finding a bargain on gold is very slim these days. If you’re seriously wanting to invest in gold, you should deal one on one with a real professional of precious metals. That is exactly the kind of employees the United States Gold Bureau has working for them. They can help answer your questions and find gold coins or gold ingots that are the exact weight of gold in which they claim to be. You will get your money’s worth; when you choose to buy gold from the U.S. Gold Bureau. They have a website online or you can give them a call to arrange a personal delivery to your home for any gold, silver, or other precious metals you decide to purchase. For those buyers who plan to buy a significant quantity of precious metals, you may want to have these larger purchases delivered to an independent bank or depository for storage and safe keeping. You won’t have to worry about any of the details on your end, because the friendly staff at the Gold Bureau will make all the necessary arrangements to have your gold or silver items delivered to the depository or bank; you feel the most secure with for storing your precious metals.

Gold has been all over the news, TV commercials, and online for the way its prices have shot up in the last 3 to 4 years. It’s not a secret anymore that gold is hot, safe, and a very worthy investment for anyone who plans to go this route with their investment portfolios.

Don’t forget about silver either! We are now going on 20 consecutive years; where the world demand for silver is greater than the world can currently produce this precious metal. I realize no one considers silver a rare metal, but at the rate the silver supplies are shrinking up, its fast-becoming a rare metal and who would have believed this 50 years ago? Probably no one, since the U.S. Government was routinely dumping huge supplies of silver on the World Markets, right after the end of World War II. They no longer can practice this silver-dumping method on the markets, because they don’t have any huge supplies to dump anymore. They are out there searching for their own ways to buy silver, just like other investors who seek a precious metals investment.

Just remember if it sounds too good to be true; then chances are it isn’t true. I’m sure a lot of bad people will be coming to the surface with false claims and counterfeit metals, they will try to pass off as the real thing. Avoid these people and make sure these sellers have credentials and a long background history you can check; like the United States Gold Bureau has and provides for each of their customers. They just don’t strive on being honest and helpful to people like you and me, but they’re striving to be America’s Best Dealer in precious metals. So if you are not sure and do have a little doubt about another seller’s merchandise, just walk away and erase all doubts, by calling US Gold Bureau and buying all of your precious metal items from them. More than likely everyone’s gold and silver investments will be turning a profit, so just make sure you have the real thing!

Braves Hanson Continues to Struggle

by Chris Padgett on Aug.12, 2010, under Favorite Blog

Tommy Hanson may have showcased his best pitches for the Majors already. He has been unable to win a game for the Atlanta Braves in the past several weeks. He’s still a young guy and he may develop a new pitch or get better control of his pitches later on, but for now he’s just a highly over rated pitcher for the Atlanta Braves. Announcer Joe Simpson disagrees with this I’m sure, as he has become one of the biggest cheerleaders for the young pitcher.

Even after a thrilling comeback in extra innings, where catcher Brian McCann hit a grand slam in the 10th inning, to seal the win for the Braves over the Astros; Simpson was still not happy. He’s become a fan of individual players and not of the team and it shows very much on the air.

For some reason Joe Simpson put Alex Gonzalez on a defensive mountain for shortstops. Saying how this guy could do things most other shortstops couldn’t do. Mainly trying to point out Gonzalez was so much better of a baseball player than Yunel Escobar, the Braves former shortstop. Oh how we forget so soon, how Escobar carried the team in 2009 and was easily the MVP of the Atlanta Braves last year. He got put out on an island and no coaches, players, or TV announcers were there to stand up for him. Gonzalez has been directly responsible for costing the Braves wins with his glove and we never got that with Escobar. Tommy Hanson and Troy Glaus both showed up the former Braves shortstop on the field, in what they felt was lack of effort and concentration. Since that time, Glaus can’t buy a hit and has made numerous errors at first base and doesn’t hustle at all. Yes, he is a slow player, but he could still hustle out there. Then Hanson was the one who dropped the ball in a run down play with the Astros Michael Bourn; in which Bourn got back to 2nd base successfully.

The two biggest problems with this Braves team over the past 6 weeks has been Troy Glaus and Tommy Hanson. These two don’t belong on the team and are both spoiling the good chemistry in the ATL. Trading away the shortstop from a 1st place club and getting a Toronto Blue Jays shortstop is already proving to be a big mistake. Why no one is calling the Gonzalez a bad trade yet is beyond me. This trade may very well prove to be the difference in the final NL East standings with the Philadelphia Phillies. One thing is for sure. The Braves or Phillies will win the NL East Pennant. It’s a two team race and replacements for Glaus and Hanson have to be in the thoughts of every player and coach wearing a Braves uniform right now. Let’s go ahead and cast these two aside too. No sense in standing up for them, since no one in Braves country was “brave” enough to to it for the new Blue Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar.

Braves Heyward for Homerun Derby

by Chris Padgett on Jun.03, 2010, under Favorite Blog

I hope the Atlanta Braves rookie right-fielder Jason Heyward or the “Say Hey Kid” will get to be one of the NL sluggers in the Homerun Derby. I like watching the home run derby during the All Star Break. I think it will be on the 2nd Tuesday in July for the All Star Game. The Home Run Derby usually takes place on the Monday before the Tuesday All Star Game. The Atlanta Braves are in first place right now, so that should help to draw attention to Jason Heyward. I believe his smooth and easy stroke would be perfect for a home run derby event.

Jason started off hitting 6th for the Braves. He is currently hitting in the 2 hole or 2nd in the line-up. His hot bat has cooled down in recent games, but he’s still hitting the ball hard. He has just missed on about 5 homerun balls in the last few days. Heyward and the Braves are now traveling out to Los Angeles to face the LA Dodgers. I look for the Say Hey Kid to rock 1 or 2 out of Dodger Stadium this weekend. It will be a 4 game series and it should be interesting to see if the Braves can keep their 8 game winning streak alive against the Dodgers. It’s gonna be a tough road trip for Jason Heyward and the Atlanta Braves. Let’s just hope the Braves and Heyward look good in California, so the Braves can pick up a few more All Star votes for the players that are deserving on their roster right now. I really hope Jason Heyward gets his chance in the 2010 Home Run Derby; which will be in Anaheim this year.

Car of the Future with Plastic Parts

by Chris Padgett on Nov.07, 2009, under Favorite Blog

Car of the Future

The car of the future is closer than you think. It might just be a lot lighter than you think too. It’s possible we could be driving around in plastic cars one day. This is probably something you haven’t gave much thought to and it’s a new one on me too. What are the advantages and disadvantages of plastic parts over the steel cars and parts we drive and use today? My first thought goes toward the environment. All of the old cars rusting in junkyards now and the steel parts that are buried in the ground are not going away anytime soon. These old car parts will remain in our soil for many years. It would seem plastic would be a better environment choice and would rot better, right? Well plastic materials make the headlines a lot and how it takes a long time to turn into dust too. This is why it’s important for us to recycle our plastic and avoid putting it in landfills and other dump sites for trash. I can’t say for sure, but even though plastic takes a long time to dispose of, it would still be much faster than the steel parts. I think we can give a “check mark” to the plastic parts over the steel parts; when it comes to our environment.

How would safety play into the cars of tomorrow? If we did use plastic over steel would it be safer on the roads? For protection in auto accidents; then there is no doubt steel would win. However, if the impact from the other driver is a car made of plastic, how much damage could it really do? I know just about everyone has lost a friend, family member, co-worker, neighbor, or someone in a car accident. As a society we must change this pattern and perhaps plastic cars is the answer? If we could lower the death rate on our highways from automobile accidents; then I am in favor of plastic cars now!

I can think of one more important issue for comparing plastic cars to steel cars and that would be the price tag. You know using plastics to create cars would be much cheaper than the prices we pay for our steel materials. I think if the cars of tomorrow are made with 50% plastic and 50% of all the other materials, it would cut the cost in half. Plastic parts in our automobiles would be much cheaper. They might not last as long as the steel parts do, but even if you factor in the frequent changing of parts, plastic would still be the better bargain. I think from the viewpoint of money, consumers would prefer to buy a plastic car over the cars we use today.

These are some of the things that come to my mind about the car of the future. Do you have anything else you can add to this discussion? Please reply and help me look at some new angles about plastic cars and plastic parts. I would like to know what your thinking and if you think plastic is a good idea or just something you’re not going to see in your lifetime.

Amy Africa’s QLOG

by Chris Padgett on Aug.31, 2009, under Favorite Blog

amy-africa

If you like to market various products or programs online and you’re trying to earn money or just a better ranking in the search engines; you should look at Amy Africa’s QLOG website. If you go to amyafrica.com and check out the overall looks of her website, you will notice that it has a real professional look to it. This is important for webmasters to get this professional look, because it can really help visitors stay at your site longer. The amount of time that a surfer spends on your web pages, is the more the search engines will appreciate it and reward you with higher listings in the searches. You must have a lot of good information and attractive things that will keep people looking at your website and I think Amy Africa has accomplished this.

While visiting this QLOG ( http://www.amyafrica.com ) I know I can not look over the entire site in less than a minute. This is because Amy has loaded up her website with links, pictures, and easy-to-read boxes that appear on the sidebars for keeping everything well organized. I will have to spend several minutes there digesting everything and getting a gest of the site; that my time there will help increase her web site’s visitor time. Other webmasters should strive for more information on their sites and especially the homepage, so they can keep their traffic viewing longer; than just seeing it and moving on to another website online.

The color scheme is going to be great for the female viewers that come passing by Amy’s QLOG. The deep purple colors that get highlighted up by the different shades of pink are perfect for getting a woman’s attention. Designing a simple format to read and follow is important. Choosing a nice blend of colors can be that “cherry on top” that really sets the website and webpages off. I give passing scores for Amy Africa’s color selections if she is indeed targeting a female following.

Amy has already done all of the hard work and now it’s just a matter of finding a niche for her website. She has the opportunity to promote affiliate links on her sidebars to earn money, she can oraganize an online group that has a certain purpose, and she has a way of using her website just like a blog for sharing stories, expressing feelings, or if she needs to vent about something. Others can do this exact same thing and this is a perfect model others should stride for; when they try to create their own little place on the World Wide Web.

Follow the Atlanta Hawks

by Chris Padgett on Aug.01, 2009, under Favorite Blog

This is no Twitter request to follow another link there. You can keep up with the Atlanta Hawks on the Official Atlanta Hawks blog. A great in-depth source information about the only NBA team in the state of Georgia. The Atlanta Hawks have made the playoffs the last two seasons in a row and are looking for a 3rd straight playoff appearance. Now is a good time to hop on the bandwagon and watch these young Hawks soar in to action in the upcoming 2009/2010 season.

Nothing politically correct on this Atlanta Hawks blog. A straight forward approach about the team’s players, coaches, fans, and the announcers that call the Hawks games on television. A dedicated fan that doesn’t mind giving credit when it’s due and pointing out faults when they occur.

One of the most athletic teams in the NBA is the Atlanta Hawks. They have the ability to out-run any team in the NBA, but the current coaching staff still insists on a half-court offense. Let’s come together as fans and get things corrected in Atlanta, so we can have an NBA team we can be proud of. The Hawks have a great national TV schedule this year and we don’t want to get shown up on the national stage.

A great Thanksgiving Day game for the Hawks and Orlando Magic will be fun to watch this year. It should be fun listening to ESPN and how they break down the Atlanta Hawks team. Just so much action is around the corner and you can keep up with it every step of the way, by following the Hawks on the best NBA blog on the Net today.

Get your popcorn ready and let’s root on these Atlanta Hawks for this year’s NBA season. It’s time we make a stand in the NBA and this is our year to take it all the way!

Dr. Oetker Shakers for Birthday Events

by Chris Padgett on May.26, 2009, under Favorite Blog

The fine people that make Dr. Oetker’s Shakers are doing a good job at bringing smiles to the faces of kids. Their products are great fun for those that like to find their self in the kitchen baking up something yummy to eat. I have twin 4 year old nephews that are all the time trying to get into something. You can imagine the fun they had when I showed them one of these cool shakers. They both like go grab or hold onto things and in this case, they both wanted to do some shaking. You can find several varieties of shakers from Dr. Oetker and you might want to pick up some before your next birthday party you do for the kids.

This product is really simple and easy-to-use. I like taking sprinkles and chocolate chips and mixing them up or shaking them together and spreading over a birthday cake. This was the original idea I had for the cake and thought this would work well on cupcakes too. If you noticed I said “original” because the plan did change a bit. The twins decided they wanted to try their own combinations of food and we made some interesting combinations on their birthday. I know the candies like M&M’s and Skittles found their way into our creative combinations and sometimes we didn’t even shake our creations on the cake. Instead we just ate the mixed up creations on the spot and they both loved it. This is a fun and affordable way to do something a little different on the birthdays you gear up for. Sometimes we don’t have to spend a lot of money on food and decorations, because the fun can sometimes be found in the simplest things. These shakers were easy and fun and I may have to do this idea again on their next birthday.

I believe they are 10 different types of Dr. Oetker Shaker products you can buy in the store. We created our own combinations and you can too or just stay with the original idea of the shaker you buy. You can check out their website for more information and also learn how to win a $1200 Visa Card for the next weekend you spend with the family. You can enter this contest daily and other prizes are also up for grabs!

Michael Jordan Heads the Hall of Fame 2009 Class

by Chris Padgett on Apr.07, 2009, under Favorite Blog

There wasn’t any surprise that the NBA’s best basketball player made it into the Basketball Hall of Fame on his first try. Michael Jordan was a sure lock for the Hall of Fame and he joins other great NBA players that played before his time. This is a great tribute and honor for MJ and I know there are a lot of basketball fans living around Chicago right now glad to see number 23 finally in the NBA Hall of Fame. Michael Jordan voted in the Hall of Fame isn’t that shocking of a headline for anyone that knows the career of Michael Jordan. He amazed us in the North Carolina uniform he use to wear in college and it didn’t take him long to become a star in Chicago for the Bulls. He won a couple of Slam Dunk Titles and one of those dunks is locked in everyone’s memory; due to the logo that Nike created for him. Michael “Air” Jordan is going to be remembered long after his days on Earth are done. It’s too bad that future generations won’t get to see this magnificent athlete play in person, but they will have plenty of footage of the games he did play so well in for so many years.

Michael Jordan was the headline name to make it into the Class of 2009. Two coaches were also voted in today and they were the Utah Jazz and Rutgers Women’s basketball coaches. The other NBA players that share this honor with Jordan, were John Stockton from the Utah Jazz and David Robinson that played and won championships with the San Antonio Spurs. It’s a great day for the Basketball Hall of Fame that added 3 super players in Stockton, Robinson, and Jordan. All 3 deserved it and I’m glad to see all three made it in now.

Do You Love Dolphins?

by Chris Padgett on Feb.21, 2009, under Favorite Blog

dolphin bubbles

I think dolphins are amazing creatures. These are beautiful animals and I have always had a fascination with dolphins. I’m sure you remember Flipper and just how smart Flipper was. Dolphins do use about 90% of their brains and it’s estimated that humans only use 10% of theirs. I think I have a few friends that don’t even use that much, but that’s a story for another day.

People that trap fish and the seafood companies often harm these animals with their nets in the sea; I really hope more things get done in the future to prevent our dolphin population from getting harmed. If you have ever had the chance to go to Sea World you know just how smart and beautiful these animals really are. Make sure you take the family down to SeaWorld sometime and see the dolphin show, it’s really spectacular the tricks that these animals can do. They have been trained very well and I’m amazed at just how smart they are.

I’m not sure there is a smarter animal in the sea or on the land than the dolphin. I found a great blog that shows some really great information on dolphins and lots of pics to see. The name of the blog is Dolphin Bubbles and I highly recommend checking out this cool blog, if you like dolphins as much as I do.

Gators & Sooners Set to Clash

by Chris Padgett on Dec.08, 2008, under Favorite Blog

The BCS Champion will be crowned after the Oklahoma Sooners and Florida Gators play their football game. Florida has actually won the college football title for this year, because they beat the 2nd best team in the country, which was the Alabama Crimson Tide. It’s all about who you play during the year and the other football conferences don’t stack up to the SEC. The ACC is full of talent and good teams and they deserve to play SEC teams and be ranked with them. All other schools outside of the ACC and SEC just confuse the polls and voters. This is why we have Ohio State getting blown out every year and they have to play a team from the South and they just don’t match up. Even the weak PAC 10 manages to put a team like USC in the top 10 in the country and that team can’t even win their games against that weak Pac 10 competition. The Oklahoma Sooners may or may not have a good team this year. We don’t really know the answer to this because they haven’t been tested with good competition yet. If they beat Florida or lose by single digits I will be impressed and know they had a good football team this year. If they are on the losing side by 20 points or more; then it just shows once again how these other conferences are way over ranked.

Other great bowl games college fans will get to see this year

Sugar Bowl: Utah .vs. Alabama

Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech .vs. Cincinnati

Chick-Fil-A Game: Georgia Tech .vs. LSU

Capital One Game: Michigan State .vs. Georgia

Gator Bowl: Clemson .vs. Nebraska

Liberty Game: Kentucky .vs. East Carolina

These are some of the more desirable bowl games you will see this year. I’m not sure why some of those teams are playing in BCS Bowl games when they didn’t play a real football team all year and still manage to lose along the way. I guess we will never determine who’s the best until a playoff system is in place. I know they don’t want this to happen because of the teams that don’t play in the ACC or SEC would never stand a chance in a game with the type of talent these teams put out on the field every Saturday.

Toys for Christmas

by Chris Padgett on Nov.29, 2008, under Favorite Blog

It’s the season for giving and there is no shortage in children giving parents their Christmas Lists for the one day of the year they love the most. Yes, December 25th is Christmas Day and this day is even more popular than birthdays with the kids. They can hardly go to sleep Christmas Eve Night, knowing they will get to unwrap their gifts when they wake up. If you’re having trouble coming up with gift ideas; then just ask the kids, I’m sure they will give you plenty.

The toys aren’t just for the little kids either and our older children like them just as good. If you have a child entering their teens or even early 20′s, they will want to unwrap a toy or two on Christmas Day too. They do make toys for their ages and I know the Nintendo Wii or Nintendo ds is a very popular item with the older kids. You’re much better off getting them a gaming system than something more dangerous like a motorcycle, 4 wheeler, or hunting riffle and they will ask for these type of presents.

I’m not sure how households without kids and toys react on Christmas Day. I know in my household we have had toys being unwrapped for the last 30 years or so. If it’s not the kids tearing off the Christmas wrapping paper; you have the grand kids following in their footsteps. It just seems its a never ending process and I’m sure the toy companies are grateful for this. It’s just not Christmas without good food, family, friends, and of coarse toys!

Cheap Shares on Wall Street

by Chris Padgett on Oct.30, 2008, under Favorite Blog

Stocks got a boost from the government today as the Feds cut interest rates sending the markets higher. They are so many cheap stocks to find right now on Wall Street and it’s a great buying opportunity for investors. If you haven’t got any of these bargains yet, there is still plenty of time and things should stay cheap until the election on November 4th.  I think we will see a surge in the Market after McCain or Obama is elected president next Tuesday. I think we will have to stay up late on Tuesday to find out who wins and this presidential election is shaping up to be a very close one. I would assume we will know who wins in the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday November 5th.

If you do buy the cheap shares of companies right now, please remember it will take a little time until you see a big turn around. June 30th of 2009 is when the housing market will correct itself and everything should be smooth sailing from there. Investors need to be investing for the long term right now and this is not the time to buy and sell. The holidays will factor in a postive market soon and this coupled with the Presidential Election should bring a nice gain as the last days of 2008 slip away. You don’t have to look hard to find stock bargains, but I don’t see how you could go wrong with Google and any share price under 472 dollars from Google should be snatched up. That 472 dollar level is where I’m drawing the line on Google and this is a 28 dollar drop from my 500 dollar or less buying target. So grab a little Google while your buying the discounts on Wall Street right now and be sure you’re buying for the long term.

Halloween Shopping Time

by Chris Padgett on Oct.23, 2008, under Favorite Blog

The kids are getting excited and the stores are stocking up on the candy as everyone gets ready for Halloween. I like this time of the year and really Halloween Night is the start of the holiday season that will run until the end of the year. The Halloween Costume Stores will stay packed from now until October 31st as kids and parents both try to find the perfect costumes. I think you have to dress-up for Halloween or it doesn’t feel like a special day. Even the adults need to wear something from the norm, so they can get in the spirit of things too.

So what are you going to be this year? I’m not sure what the popular costumes are going to be or which new costumes will be available this year. I know what we see on television or at the movies will affect some costumes this year. The Movie Costumes are always popular and anything else that deals with the media or current events. Finding costumes online is the easiest way to buy them and you can go through a larger variety to choose from. It’s also important that you get a costume that fits and is comfortable to wear. You don’t get to experience this if you buy a costume online, but some local Halloween Stores might let you try on your costumes before you buy them. Finding a costume online is easier and can be cheaper too; but they are some benefits to shopping locally and getting the chance to try it on before you buy it. Just do a little shopping before you purchase a Halloween Costume and then you can decide what is most important to you. I hope everyone has a fun time getting ready for Halloween and be sure you make it a safe one this year too!
