Ohio State Blackeyes

posted in Blogging |

The SEC won its 2nd straight college championship as the LSU Tigers won easily over the over ranked Ohio State Blackeyes. Yawn….. They are the Blackeyes and not the Buckeyes, because they are once again a black eye for college football and the BCS. Most people that know their southern football knew Ohio State had no chance to win that game tonight. Most people from the South could have told you that half the teams in the SEC could have beaten that Ohio State team. They just aren’t that good and they don’t play anybody during the regular season. The best match up on Monday would have been an SEC Showdown between the LSU Tigers and the Georgia Bulldogs. These are the 2 best teams in college football. Yet we have a BCS System that is corrupted and the politics involve have once again given us a National Championship Game; where the winner was decided at halftime.

If the Ohio State running back didn’t have that long touchdown run in the first quarter, the scoreboard would have said 31 to 3 at one point tonight. Instead that long run was able to get the Blackeyes into the score being 31 to 10. You shouldn’t have this type of blow out in a National Championship College Game. There are no excuses for the BCS that is getting closer every season to just being BS!

Ohio State would have been more at home with the USC Trojans from California; because they don’t play anybody worth a crap either. Instead for some reason USC chose a weak opponent (which they had beaten the Blackeyes); so that they could run up the score. If Ohio State would have won by a field goal tonight, many from USC would have been crying for the championship to go their way; since they blew out the only team that wouldn have beaten Ohio State.

The Georgia Bulldogs deserve the national crown and they were the best football team in the 2007/2008 year. I guess the Bulldog Nation will just have to wait and see if they can get ranked higher than USC next year. The Georgia Bulldogs should be the top team in the nation next year and hopefully the BCS will at least get the preseason rankings right.

PreSeason Rankings for the 2008 Season

1. Georgia

2. Oklahoma

3. LSU

4. Virginia Tech

5. California

6. West Virginia

7. Oregon State

8. Auburn

9. USC

10. Florida

That is the way the pre-rankings should come out next year. I really don’t think USC, California or Oregon State deserve to be in the top 10, but favorable schedules and a lot of returning starters get them in the top 10. Ohio State should be ranked 17th in the preseason polls next year; but I’m sure the politics involved will get them a top 10 nod. I really hope the top 10 teams I have on my list above get tough schedules so that we can see who the real teams in college football are. I expect Boston College, Florida State and Kansas to be solid next year too; these teams I would rank above the Ohio State Blackeyes.

Maybe we can get the best two teams in college football to play against each other next year? Naaa….they would never let two teams from the South duke it out on the National Stage. They will have to be a weak team from the Midwest or West Coast to get one of the spots. Unless we have 3 undefeated teams again and they will leave out the undefeated team from the South like they did to Auburn a few years back. I know Hawaii got left out this year, but there is no way they will ever play for a championship, because they just don’t have enough pull in the states. It wouldn’t have surprised me one bit to have seen Hawaii and Ohio State in this year’s championship game.

Just for all the young recruits looking for a good college to go to, I will say that the USC Trojans will be put on punishment in the next couple of years and I don’t think they will be a bowl eligible school, because they clearly paid Reggie Bush money and other schools have been put on suspensions from this happening in the past. I would not want to go to Southern California and play for the Trojans; when you know they will be on suspension in the near future. STAY AWAY FROM USC RECRUITS!
