Golf Courses During Droughts

I got to thinking about all the golf courses and wondered what type of restrictions they have when it comes to droughts? We are experiencing one of the worse droughts in our area over the last 50 years and every drop of water is precious to us. I see a lot of golf courses that still have that beautiful green grass. So they are obviously watering their courses and should they really be allowed to? I think it’s important to let businesses like car washes continue to use their water, because it is vital to the owners and their employees. I don’t think golf courses fall under those same rules and you can play golf on brown grass as easy as you can on the green grass fairways. I would hope my state gets involved and hold golf courses all over the state in the same restrictions as the home owners in our state.

Golf courses can take measures to help trap the water when it does rain. Most golf courses have lakes and creeks on their property that they can pump water to different areas needing the extra moisture. Golfers help too and the ones that have the little spikes on their golf shoes are punching little holes all over the golf course and this helps the rain to soak in, when it is raining. We all need to pitch in and help conserve our precious water, but let’s make the same rules and restrictions for golf courses as the other residents in our area.
