Falcons Locker Room Meltdown

posted in Blogging |

The lockerroom in Hotlanta is heating up and tempers are beginning to flare. If you think the Atlanta Falcons are having trouble on the field, with their 0-3 start to the season, it gets worse in the lockerroom. Sources are saying that several Falcon Players and Coaches were involved in a shoving match in the lockerrom after the loss to Carolina on Sunday. Apparently D’Angelo Hall was in the middle of it all, but he’s not the only one causing disruptions off the field.

The guy that has a sparkling reputation with his charity works and well-liked by his peers in the NFL; Warrick Dunn has been speaking up on the Falcons 2007 Season so far. However it appears this goes back to last year too; when Dunn was speaking up then. He wants to be a bigger part of Atlanta’s attack on offense. His vocal comments to the team’s coaches has got back to the players and some of the players on the Falcons are looking down on his vocal comments.

There is one thing that the Falcon players are acting as a unit with and that is their concerns for head coach Bobby Petrino. They fear that he isn’t prepared for a head coaching job in the NFL and they go on to say that he has made countless mistakes in practices and in games. None of the players are willing to blame the coach for the 0-3 start and think that the head coach is only slightly involved with the bad start. They do know that there is no way a coach like Petrino will ever lead a team to a Super Bowl victory in the NFL. One player from the Falcons has stated that “you have to be so perfect to win a Super Bowl, yeah, there are a few little things that you can get away with, but for the most part you have to be mistake-free to win a Super Bowl”.

As a fan of the Falcons it’s really been amazing to see just how much the 2007 Falcons team looks, compared to the 2006 Falcons team. Especially when you watched this team in the preseason, there was no signs of a new man in charge. You would think that with a new coach that the preseason would be handled differently from the past few seasons, and there was nothing that had changed from the way the Falcons conducted business in the preseason. This leads me to believe that owner Arthur Blank or GM Rich McKay is having influence on the coaching staff and that Petrino is a puppet on a string for someone within the organization. I’m sure it’s similiar to the Dallas Cowboys situation and how many feel that Wade Phillips is the puppet on the string for the Cowboys team. Stay tuned and I will try to get more information on the off-field troubles that D’Angelo Hall and Warrick Dunn are creating in Atlanta.
