23 Months For Michael Vick
The sentence has now been handed down in the Mike Vick case on dogfighting. Many thought the pro bowl quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons would be looking at an 18 month sentence in prision. He pled guilty to the charges of being cruel to animals and helping to bank roll the Bad Newz Kennels that were housing these pit bulls to fight. Instead of the 18 month sentence, the judge tacked on another 5 months and Mr. Vick will now be looking to spend the next 2 years of his life behind bars. Usually when you hear about jail time and what they actually do, Vick will probably not spend 23 months in prision. I would guess he will have about 8 of those months knocked off for good behavior and things like that. It was probably one of the reasons that made the judge hand down a stronger sentence than was expected. This sentence will insure that Michael Vick will spend the next year in containment and I would guess that around March of 2009 he will be released and then will be able to go back to his life as a pro quarterback. He’s not really going to be damaged goods then and I would expect the NFL to let him back in after he sits out the upcoming 2009/2010 season for that year.
So once he has served his time, sat out a season from the NFL, you can expect to see number 7 flying around the football again at a Pro Stadium near you. Arthur Blank has already cut ties to Vick and that might have been a mistake, after you see all the problems facing the Falcons right now. Vick will be playing in the NFL during the 2010/2011 season and it should be interesting to see which team picks him up and if the schedule makers will put the Georgia Dome on his schedule. It’s going to be a hot ticket in Atlanta when Michael Vick returns to the Georgia Dome in an opponent’s uniform. I assume he will get a lot of boos and cheers from the crowd, but don’t be suprise if Vick goes off on the Atlanta Falcons and he has one of his best days as a pro, when he does finally get to play on that Georgia Dome surface again. It will happen and Vick will be in Atlanta again, it’s just a matter of time before the football world gets to see Michael Vick and the Atlanta Falcons in the same building once again!
Pro Bowl days might be over for Michael Vick after this 23 month sentence was handed down today. It’s not just a matter of what football skills he will have left in a few years, but more of how the Pro Bowl players are selected to Hawaii. I don’t see Vick wearing a hula skirt anytime soon in the Pro Bowl game that the NFL puts on every year, but you should see Vick running around and flicking the ball out of that south paw arm of his again one day.
So who wants to guess which team will have Michael Vick? If I had to say today, I would strongly be leaning to the New York Jets as the leader in the Mike Vick sweepstakes. My sources think the Jets will make a serious run at Michael Vick when he completes his punishments from the Federal Courts and the NFL. Don’t think Packer fans have forgot just what Vick did to them a few years back in the playoffs. It wouldn’t be the first time the Green Bay Packers stole an MVP/Pro Bowl quarterback from Atlanta. Brett Favre was an Atlanta Falcon too and I could see Vick running around the frozen tundra in Wisconsin. A new NFL team in Los Angeles would also be out to land a big name and Michael Vick could be playing for the newest NFL team in the league, if Los Angeles lands a team for the 2010/2011 season. Other teams that could see Michael Vick as their quarterback too are the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, or the Indianapolis Colts.
THE MOST LIKELY NFL TEAMS MICHAEL VICK WILL BE PLAYING FOR:
New York Jets
Green Bay Packers
New Los Angeles NFL Team
Denver Broncos
Seattle Seahawks
Carolina Panthers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
New Orleans Saints
Indianapolis Colts
One or more of the above teams will be the leaders in competing for the services of Michael Vick in the 2010/2011 NFL season. The following teams are ranked in the correct order, with the highest probability going to the New York Jets and the Indianapolis Colts would be the least likely out of the 9 teams that will be trying to land Michael Vick on their NFL Franchise.
