Bad Vlad was the man for the night in the 2007 Homerun Derby. It wasn’t a bad homerun derby, but it wasn’t a great one either. The big surprise of the night happen when Ryan Howard didn’t get past the 1st round. They said back in 1999 Ken Griffey Jr. only hit 3 homers in the first round and then came back and won the event then. The rules was different back in 1999 that allowed Griffey to advance to the 2nd round. If Ryan Howard would have been able to stick around longer in this event, I think he might have won it. Guerrero did a great job and hit the ones when they counted and that 503 foot shot was amazing. He got all of that one!

If you stuck around after the show was over, then you got to see the new show on ESPN The Bronx is Burning. That was a pretty good show and I think I will have to watch next week to see what they do with part 2 of the 8 part miniseries. Now one thing that I couldn’t quit thinking about was Barry Bonds. After all they were having the event right in his own backyard. I wonder why he didn’t participate? I think he let his fans down in San Francisco by not participating in the homerun derby. I would have like to seen him bat and we could have seen more balls land in McCovey Cove. I guess he might be saving his magic for the All Star Game on Tuesday Night. I think he will be swinging for the fences in that game, but don’t be surprised to see Brian McCann of the Atlanta Braves win the MVP as the National League will beat the American League 7 to 4! Well that’s my prediction, and I will be watching it. I love the All Star Games.
