Hey Deliah by Alex
The YouTube Sensation that goes by the name Alex is continuing to sing away over at You Tube. She has an impressive amout of videos she has uploaded and one of her latest ones is the song Hey Deliah. This is a classic song and Alex did a great job singing it. If you can sing this song; please feel free to upload your own version singing this great song and I would love to hear it.
You can see more of Alex’s videos at my other blog Single Source Writing. I have a category there called Alex YouTube and there you can see dozens of the videos this Mexican teen has uploaded at YouTube. Most of them feature her great singing talents and she has taken the You Tube Nation by storm over there. Her friends and people subscribing to her videos increases daily and she has created a huge fan base at You Tube.
Continue to keep an eye on this rising star from Mexico. Alex is only creating a buzz at You Tube for now, but soon I’m sure her talents will take her to new places. It should be fun to watch this rising star continue to shine bright! Pretty soon we will have to compare Alex to the Energizer Bunny, because she just keeps going and going and going…

Hannah Montana Wins Top Prize

New Hannah Montana Movie Wins

The top prize for new movies is the box office and Miley Cyrus had no problems there this past weekend. The new Hannah Montana Movie took in over 34 million dollars and this set a high mark for other movies that may debut in 2009. A lot of good things are being said about the new Hannah Montana movie. It seems most of her fans did like the movie and they may return to the theaters again to watch it.
It must be nice for a teenager to be the star in a movie that is number 1 in America right now. I’m sure her dad Billy Ray Cyrus, who also appears in the movie, is very proud of his daughter. Miley Cyrus is hot and Hannah Montana may just be hotter. She also has a music album that is set to debut later this summer. This is one girl that has the world by the hand right now and she is certainly making the most of it.
Top 5 Movies Now Playing
1. Hannah Montana
2. Fast & Furious
3. Monsters vs. Aliens
4. Observe and Report
5. Knowing
The one movie that caught me by surprise is Observe and Report. It has made a nice showing with the fourth spot from last weekend’s box office sales. Judging by the previews it seems this movie is a copycat of the mega hit Paul Blart: Mall Cop. We may be witnessing a new trend here and using police/security in comedies is once again hot. I know the Police Academy movies were very popular in their day and now we see a new trend of movies that are similar to them.
New Movies Playing this Weekend
1. 17 Again
2. Crank High Voltage
3. State of Play
4. American Violet
5. Is Anybody There?
I’m not sure if any of these movies will crack the top 5 movies this weekend. They do add to the solid mix of movies currently playing right now and anyone going to the movies will be seeing a good movie. I think we are seeing the best of both worlds right now and Miley and Hannah should have another strong showing this weekend too.
Campfire Stories
by Chris Padgett on Apr.12, 2009, under Uncategorized
Do you know any good campfire stories? I know some of the best ones have been told over and over through the years. Most campfire stories are geared to scare you and those are the ones campers like most. I know popular movies that are horror related have helped with a few campfire stories.
If you know of a good story to tell by the campfire; then please pass it along. I’m looking for campfire stories to tell all ages of kids and even some for the adults too. Please tell me your best campfire story and thanks in advance.
New Star Trek Movie Coming Soon
by Chris Padgett on Apr.09, 2009, under Favorite Movie
I’m sure all the “Trekies” out there will be happy to know that Star Trek has a new movie coming out soon! It’s still a few weeks away before this major blockbuster hits theaters, but fans will want to buy their tickets now. It’s going to be sold out in most theaters nationwide on May 8th; when this new Star Trek movie makes its debut on the big screen. I know the Star Trek fans will be lining up to buy tickets before this movie starts playing, so they can be the first to see what the crew on the Star Ship Enterprise is up to. If you just want to see this new Star Trek movie to look at the ears of Dr. Spock or you really are a true fan of the Star Trek movies and TV shows; then you will need to look for tickets now. This movie will be number 1 at the box office on the May 8th weekend. It might be tough finding a ticket for the May 8th or even the May 9th showings, so it is strongly suggested that all movie goers get tickets now!
Star Trek is one of those movies that fans will go see anytime and anywhere. The legacy began in 1966 with the original Star Trek episodes that were created by Gene Roddenberry. The first showed aired on September 8th in 1966 and ran until September 6th, 1969. I don’t think anyone thought then that this series would be making headlines in 2009 and over 40 years later. There have been 10 other Star Trek movies to come out, so if you haven’t seen any of the Star Trek movies yet; you will want to go catch up now, before the May 8th Star Trek comes out. This will be the 11th Star Trek movie and I wonder how many people could have guessed “how many star trek movies have there been?”; but I’m sure a few loyal fans knew the answer. These will be the same Star Trek fans that will be searching for movie tickets; to make sure they are watching it the first night it premieres.
Other movies won’t have a chance when Star Trek comes out and this movie may stay number 1 for the entire month of May. There are some other good movies playing right now and they will have a tough battle trying to keep up with the newest movie that features the Star Trek Crew. Before I tell you more about this Star Trek movie; let’s take a look at the top 10 movies from last week.
1. Fast & Furious
2. Monsters vs. Aliens
3. The Haunting in Connecticut
4. Knowing
5. I Love You, Man
6. Adventureland
7. Duplicity
8. Race to Witch Mountain
9. 12 Rounds
10. Sunshine Cleaning
No big surprise that Fast & Furious took top honors last weekend. It should have another strong showing this weekend too. I was surprised to see Knowing drop so far back down to number 4 on the list. I’m not sure if people do not like the new Nicolas Cage movie or perhaps the short title has left them not knowing about this new movie. The previews for Knowing do look pretty good and I would be surprised if people didn’t like this movie. Sunshine Cleaning made a nice showing and this movie finished 10th on the box office list. This may be a movie I have to go see soon, but the R rating doesn’t make it good for children to watch. The children will want to watch Monsters versus Aliens anyway and this is the kid movie of the week!

All of these movies and new movies coming out like Hannah Montana that starts this week will be in trouble when Star Trek starts playing in May. I think the Hannah and Miley Cyrus fans will flood the theaters this weekend and this movie will be tops at the box office. They may just hold that spot until May 8th too.
The new Star Trek movie will be about the early days of James Kirk and the USS Enterprise. I guess the creators will be taking a “Star Wars” type approach and rewinding the years back. This worked well for Silence of the Lambs too and I love the move Hannibal Rising. Star Trek will be a major hit movie and possibly the only thing standing in Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus’s way right now is this new science fiction movie that will be huge!

Responsible People Seeking Board Positions
by Chris Padgett on Apr.07, 2009, under Finance
The financial rewards of someone serving a board position can be very lucrative. The larger companies that have a board members helping oversee their company and working with the CEO in many cases are great paying jobs. Before you get caught up in the pay for being a board member, make sure you have the time and are responsible enough to hold such a powerful position. I think I would be a perfect candidate for a board position, since I have no spouse or children in my life right now. LIGHTSHIP RESEARCH is an excellent website online for those that are seeking a board position in Corporate America someday.
DO YOU WANT A BOARD SEAT?
According to Lightship Research Co. www.lightshipresearch.com. There are approximately 60,000 publicly traded companies and an additional 20,000 private companies with boards of directors in the United States. This results in a total of 80,000 boards nationwide. Experts estimate that the average board tenure lasts approximately eight years, meaning that in any given year, up to 10,000 board seats must be filled.
The board is responsible for planning the long-term future of a corporation and work side by side with management. Together, the board and the management strive to align long-term goals and the company’s vision with attainable short-term objectives. The board will often work closely with the CEO – the relationship between board members and the CEO/management team is complex and very important. Before even considering accepting a board seat, you may want to ask yourself:
• Do I believe in the cause/vision of this organization?
Am I at the particular stage of my life to add the responsibilities of board membership?
• What can I personally contribute to the board?
• What do I hope to gain from being a member of the board?

Michael Jordan Heads the Hall of Fame 2009 Class
by Chris Padgett on Apr.07, 2009, under Favorite Blog
There wasn’t any surprise that the NBA’s best basketball player made it into the Basketball Hall of Fame on his first try. Michael Jordan was a sure lock for the Hall of Fame and he joins other great NBA players that played before his time. This is a great tribute and honor for MJ and I know there are a lot of basketball fans living around Chicago right now glad to see number 23 finally in the NBA Hall of Fame. Michael Jordan voted in the Hall of Fame isn’t that shocking of a headline for anyone that knows the career of Michael Jordan. He amazed us in the North Carolina uniform he use to wear in college and it didn’t take him long to become a star in Chicago for the Bulls. He won a couple of Slam Dunk Titles and one of those dunks is locked in everyone’s memory; due to the logo that Nike created for him. Michael “Air” Jordan is going to be remembered long after his days on Earth are done. It’s too bad that future generations won’t get to see this magnificent athlete play in person, but they will have plenty of footage of the games he did play so well in for so many years.
Michael Jordan was the headline name to make it into the Class of 2009. Two coaches were also voted in today and they were the Utah Jazz and Rutgers Women’s basketball coaches. The other NBA players that share this honor with Jordan, were John Stockton from the Utah Jazz and David Robinson that played and won championships with the San Antonio Spurs. It’s a great day for the Basketball Hall of Fame that added 3 super players in Stockton, Robinson, and Jordan. All 3 deserved it and I’m glad to see all three made it in now.

Bold Print for Address Labels
by Chris Padgett on Apr.03, 2009, under Blogging
I think we are all getting up there in age these days and reading books or things online isn’t always that easy. Bigger letters or bolder letters in print would help our eyes out more and there are things we can do to help. I know I like to create my own return address labels and this saves a lot of time on writing them out on envelopes and packages. I want to start making my personalized labels with bolder and darker print. I think this would help people see more clearly that it’s me sending them a letter or package through the mail. It can be much easier to read something in bold print for some people.
If you would like to create labels with bold print or other personalized designs, be sure to check out VistaPrint. They offer a variety of services for those wanting to personalize or create new labels or address labels from scratch. You can upload your own images, designs, or logos through their website to help with your new creations. These services are perfect for individuals just wanting to create their own return address labels like me or for companies or small businesses to take advantage of designing and mass producing their own labels. I think a custom-design label for a business makes them look more professional. Its also is very affordable to design your own labels and you won’t have any problem with the costs at VistaPrint.
Do you currently use your own personalized labels? Do you think a business can stand apart from their competition by having custom-made labels? If you have never tried to design a label before, it is very easy at VistaPrint. If you already have return address labels for mailing purposes; you may want to check with them the next time you need new ones. You may find these labels are better than the ones you’re using now. Let me know if you do choose to order some and how easy the process went.
Last Week: Top 10 Movies Playing
by Chris Padgett on Apr.03, 2009, under Favorite Movie
1. Monsters vs. Aliens
2. The Haunting in Connecticut
3. Knowing
4. I Love You, Man
5. Duplicity
6. Race to Witch Mountain
7. 12 Rounds
8. Watchmen
9. Taken
10. The Last House on the Left
A jammed pack movie list that is providing movie goers with top notch entertainment; which top 10 movie from last week’s box office results would you like to see the most? I think the 10th place movie The Last House on the Left is as appealing as any of the other 10 movies making the list. I wouldn’t mind seeing any of these top 10 movies currently playing in theaters. I don’t think you can pick a bad movie right now and everything seems positive at the movies right now.
These 10 movies won’t stay in the top 10 next week and they will have to make room for new movies that may make their way into the top 10 this weekend. I’m sure Fast and Furious that starts playing in theaters today will be a hot ticket this weekend. I see this movie being a top 10 attraction this weekend at the box office. Other movies starting today are Adventureland, Alien Trespass, Bart Got a Room, and several others making their debut.
The debut of the new movie Fast and Furious will make things more crowded at the top and some really good movie won’t show up next week in the standings. There might be other new movies that push out some winners from last week’s results too. It might be tough choosing just one movie to watch this weekend, but you should get to see a good movie, no matter which one you select. Let me know if you have seen any of these movies yet or the ones you plan to watch in the near future.
