Everything About Dolphins

by Chris Padgett on Feb.28, 2009, under Blogging

dolphin bubbles

The dolphin is one of the most beautiful and intelligent animals on our planet. I think man has always had a fascination for dolphins and it appears they share that same fascination with us. A dolphin is a mammal and the scientific community view these animals more like humans than a fish. They are a marine mammal like a whale is a marine mammal. The appearance of the dolphin is what gives humans such a big interest in these sea creatures. I don’t think there is another animal on the planet that is smarter than a dolphin and this has created a long list of themes that revolve around the dolphin.

Have you ever wanted to swim with the dolphins? I think this would be an experience like none other. People living in the state of Florida or that go to the Sunshine State on vacation have the opportunity to swim with dolphins. They do this in Orlando, Florida at a place called Discovery Cove. If you haven’t ever heard of Discovery Cove it’s more popular than you think. It is located with Sea World in Orlando and there are lots of tourists and travelers that visit SeaWorld every year. If this feels like a place that you would like to take the family; then I have a great blog that you can visit for more information about swimming with the dolphins.

Dolphin Bubbles

This is a great blog with information and pictures on the adventure you and your family will enjoy at Discovery Cove in Orlando. Anyone that likes dolphins will enjoy this blog and it’s a great read too. If you visit Dolphin Bubbles be sure to leave a reply or should I say “leave a bubble”. I think a dolphin swim would be a day the whole family would remember. Just don’t forget the camera, so you can take your own dolphin pictures.

Our daily lives have a lot of things that are geared toward dolphins. I have seen dolphin screensavers, dolphin backgrounds, and lots of dolphin images that you can find online. I’m sure some people decorate their computers with dolphin items and have dolphin merchandise all through their house. I have also seen a dolphin game for the computer that appears to be pretty popular. The game is called Dolphin Olympics and I think it went over pretty well because there is a Dolphin Olympics 2 game that has came out recently. If they made a dolphin 2, you know that dolphin 3 or Dolphin Olympics 3 is probably in the making. Dolphins have certainly made a place for their self on our computers and if you want 3d dolphin wallpaper it is available!

Orlando isn’t the only place you can find dolphins. They are lots of them in Miami, Florida! Well these dolphins are a bit different and these are the players and fans of the Miami Dolphins football team. I have always loved the uniforms of the Miami Dolphins and have kept up with them for many years now. The Miami Dolphins is a NFL (National Football League) football team that plays in South Florida. I think all across the country they are many fans of one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL and that is Dan Marino. He is a legendary Miami Dolphins player and his numbers speak for their self. The Dolphins football team is also known as the last NFL team to go perfect on the year. They had a perfect record back in 1972 and since they achieved this incredible mark, no team in the NFL has won every regular season game, playoff game, and the Super Bowl in one year. The New England Patriots had a perfect record going into the Super Bowl a few years back, but was unable to win it, after a devastating upset by the New York Giants. The long-time coach of the Miami Dolphins Don Shula was happy to see the Dolphins perfect record intact, since he led the Miami team to that magical season in 1972.

There are lots of different dolphins that roam our oceans. I think we all see the bottlenose dolphin when we think about these beautiful animals. Do you remember the most popular dolphin ever? If you said Flipper then that would be correct. Flipper from the popular TV show back in the 1960′s was a bottle nose dolphin. Everyone loved the show and Flipper was the Lassie of the ocean.

Bottle Nose Dolphins

bottlenose-dolphin

Have you ever heard of people eating dolphins? There is a great tasting fish that goes by the name Mahi Mahi and I highly recommend eating this type of fish. Mahi Mahi isn’t a bottlenose dolphin, so you’re not eating Flipper when you try Mahi Mahi. This is actually from the dolphin fish and not the marine mammal that is so popular. The dolphin fish is not related to the Delphinidae family and the way we usually think about dolphins. I wasn’t going to write up a nice blog post on dolphins and then give you recipes on how to eat them, so don’t worry about trying mahi mahi sometime. An excellent tasting fish and it doesn’t have that strong fishy taste that you get from some types of fish. Several of your favorite seafood restaurants will offer mahimahi as a menu selection and it isn’t hard to find.

Types of Dolphins

*Blue Dolphin

*Grey Dolphin

*White Dolphin

*Dolphin Whale

*Humpback Dolphin

*Pink Dolphin

There is over 40 different types of dolphins. However, if you mention the word “dolphin”, then most people will see the bottlenosed dolphin or Flipper. Florida isn’t the only U.S. state that you can see dolphins and there are California Dolphins and I’m sure many dolphins roam around the shores of Hawaii, where the term “mahi mahi” is a Hawaiian word. I enjoyed the research on dolphins that I did today and found some great information that I learned about dolphins. It isn’t hard to find dolphin information online. You can type in “dolphin” or even dolphine and you will get lots of great information about this incredible creature. It’s easy to understand the fascination and love that so many people have for dolphins. They do seem to have a great personality and who knows how high a dolphins IQ might really be. They do make sounds under the water and can communicate with other dolphins. The dolphin sounds get classified into 3 types and they all have different purposes.

Garden Hose Reels

by Chris Padgett on Feb.28, 2009, under Blogging

garden-hose-reel

The garden is ready to be plowed and weeded to get it in shape for spring; which is coming soon. There is a lot of nippy air that remains around, so it can be tough getting the garden in shape. If you can brave the cool air now and get the ground ready for planting, you will be able to start sowing seeds soon. I think on Easter Sunday or the weekend following Easter is a good time to start planting the garden. I live in Georgia, so states to the north might want to wait a couple of extra weeks to make sure Jack Frost doesn’t come nipping at their gardens. There is nothing worse than getting a garden started and then having to deal with a freeze.

The garden supply stores are stocking up now and I’m sure the gardeners won’t have a hard time finding a sale on garden supplies. I will be going shopping soon and I need to pick up several things to help me keep the garden going this year. I spent way too much time rolling out and rolling up garden hoses last year that I had to do manually. I’m going to make it easier on myself this year and get a retractable garden hose reel. This is going to save me a lot of time and energy on the garden this summer.

The garden hose reel in the picture above is a little out of my price range or at least I thought it was. I actually found a good bargain at Buy.com and this no-crank retractable garden hose reel is affordable for me. I don’t think I will find a better deal at the garden supply stores or the hardware store. I can order this product online and the shipping is free on this item at Buy.com. I’m glad I saw this being sold over there and this makes me want to look around online for other deals on garden supplies. You may want to do the same while the weather is still too cold for planting and feel free to come back here and share the deals you find online. I think I will actually enjoy watering the garden this year; if I do get a new garden hose reel.

Shaq Dives into the Crowd

by Chris Padgett on Feb.28, 2009, under Uncategorized

Shaquille Oneal had a big night against Toronto scoring 45 points and Chris Bosh of the Raptors accused him of cheating on this big night. He claims that Shaq was camping out in the lane and the 3 second rule was not enoforced on Mr. Oneal. I didn’t see the game so I really can’t comment on Bosh’s statements, but I did see the dive into the crowd.

Shaquille Oneal is a very large man and when he dives into a crowd of people, they are going to either run or get hurt. It appears while hustling out of bounds against Toronto Friday night that Shaq had room to stop his momentum. His speed had a slight increase at the end before launching his self into the crowd. I think the NBA needs to review this very closely and even perhaps handing down a suspension. It would be the first of it’s kind, but some message does need to be sent to the league office. As an NBA fan, I don’t want to be in the path of Shaq and certainly in a situation that could have been avoided. There was no reason for him to dive into the crowd, but that didn’t stop this 300+ pound man from leaping into the laps of many spectators. Someone can have been seriously injured and for what? Perhaps Shaq was wanting a round of applause of his hustle and effort, but only “boos” need to rain down on him for that little stunt. I hope the NBA takes this matter seriously and suspend Oneal for a game or two, so it sends a clear message to other NBA players. The sport is about basketball and not showing off Mr. Oneal!

Home Prices Losing Value

by Chris Padgett on Feb.21, 2009, under Home Finance

The housing market has been going down lately. Many people owe more on their homes now; than what they are actually worth. I think this would have to be very frustrating for home owners having to pay more for their houses when the currenty economical crisis we are in now, actually shows their homes in a lower value. It may take some time for things to correct in the housing industry, but it seems we have hit rock bottom in a lot of areas of our economy.

If your home is currently losing value you may be able to renogiate your current financing plan. It is a good idea for all home owners to do this regularly so you are paying the cheapest interest rates possible. Jim Crammer is saying that things will fix after June 30th of this year and he usually knows what he is talking about. Let’s see if July is the magical month where the housing industry gets back on track and our homes do increase in value. This is a good market for people looking to buy a house and you should be able to find some really good deals in most parts of the country.

Do You Love Dolphins?

by Chris Padgett on Feb.21, 2009, under Favorite Blog

dolphin bubbles

I think dolphins are amazing creatures. These are beautiful animals and I have always had a fascination with dolphins. I’m sure you remember Flipper and just how smart Flipper was. Dolphins do use about 90% of their brains and it’s estimated that humans only use 10% of theirs. I think I have a few friends that don’t even use that much, but that’s a story for another day.

People that trap fish and the seafood companies often harm these animals with their nets in the sea; I really hope more things get done in the future to prevent our dolphin population from getting harmed. If you have ever had the chance to go to Sea World you know just how smart and beautiful these animals really are. Make sure you take the family down to SeaWorld sometime and see the dolphin show, it’s really spectacular the tricks that these animals can do. They have been trained very well and I’m amazed at just how smart they are.

I’m not sure there is a smarter animal in the sea or on the land than the dolphin. I found a great blog that shows some really great information on dolphins and lots of pics to see. The name of the blog is Dolphin Bubbles and I highly recommend checking out this cool blog, if you like dolphins as much as I do.

One Very Nice TV

by Chris Padgett on Feb.20, 2009, under Favorite Sitcom

A TV is not just a television set to some and the size and quality of the picture is very important to some. If you’re searching for a really nice television set, it isn’t going to be cheap. You do need to spend the money to acquire one of the nicer TV’s on the market today. I found one that isn’t right for everybody, but those looking for a good television set; will certainly get that with the Sharp 46″ LCD HDTV.

sharp-tv

This is one great television set that anyone would like to own, if they have room for a 46 inch TV. I’m sure most would make room to have this TV set to watch all their ball games and favorite shows on. This would be the perfect television for me and my family and we would love to own this specific TV. Before you get ready to go out and buy this TV, keep in mind the price. This is a $3,000 TV set and I know this is out of most people’s price range. You can look for a sale and save some money. I know Buy.com is offering this at a great reduced price and you will only be paying about $2300 if you order it from them. No one should pay the full amount when you can knock off about $700 from the price and Buy.com does this with a lot of the various products they carry. Before you get ready to purchase a TV, be sure to check with them first and see what sales they have available online. Sharp does make some other very good TV’s that offer HD and other features for a super quality picture.

Dale Jr. at 2009 Daytona

by Chris Padgett on Feb.20, 2009, under Blogging

Dale Earnhardt Junior is not a very good driver. I think most of the true NASCAR fans and other drivers on the circuit know this already. A lot of die-hard Earnhardt fans would never admit this and this goes back to them being fans of his dad Dale Earnhardt. Little E clearly caused a major wreck at this year’s race in Daytona, but the young, unexperienced driver is taking no blame. He some how is blaming others for his raming of Greg Vickers car. He first starts out blaming someone else and then shortly after turns the blame to Greg Vickers saying that Vickers is no Saint.

Not sure when Dale Junior is going to figure out this grown up thing in life. We have to take responsibility for our actions and everyone knows the wreck in Daytona was your fault. Just own up to it and go on, trying to blame others for your mistake only makes you look worse than what you really are. You have had everything handed to you on a silver platter and now it’s time to start earning some of that silver. You have no problems celebrating the good times and the wins, so learn to take the bad times in stride and quit the blaming game. Even if it’s the other driver’s fault, still accept responsibility and people will look at you in a much greater light. The light is casting very dark in your corner now and it’s only going to get darker if you don’t start taking responsibility; like the rest of us adults do everyday.

Planning for Surgery

by Chris Padgett on Feb.20, 2009, under Cosmetic Surgery

If you’re getting ready for a surgical procedure, they are a few things you need to do first. You want to make sure the plants are watered and the pets are fed. You don’t want any thing sick or dead due to your time in the hospital and you never know how long your visit might last for. Even the simple cosmetic surgery procedures have the chance of something going wrong and you may need to stay longer than expected. Just make sure the animals and plants are going to be cared for and giving a friend or relative a key to your house or apartment isn’t a bad idea.

Go ahead and give the house a good cleaning if you’re able. Coming home to a house that is clean with no dishes or laundry to wash is a good feeling and this gives you the chance to be lazy when you return home from the hospital. If you plan to stay in the hospital for a few days, you will certainly be packing a suitcase to take with you. If your procedure is only supposed to last one day, you might still want to get out the luggage and pack a few emergency supplies just in case. A few extra clothes, your toothbrush and hairbrush isn’t a bad idea to throw in the suitcase. You don’t have to carry this to the hospital with you, but leaving it with a friend or where someone else can get it, will be great if an unexpected emergency does arise. Most surgical procedures going very well these days and I’m sure you don’t have anything to worry about. Just play it safe and take care of the little things now and you won’t have any extra stresses if something does go wrong.

1 Way Links to Websites

by Chris Padgett on Feb.20, 2009, under SEO

You must search for sites that are related to yours to make quality inbound links. Don’t just get any website to add a link back to your website, because this isn’t doing either website any good. Linking websites need to be related in some way and it’s good that both offer quality content. Posting your link in message forums and other services similiar are okay, but you don’t want to over do it too much.

How do you find websites that match up in relevant content and is closely related? Well that’s the “magic bullet” of trying to drive your PR numbers higher. There really isn’t an exact method for any webmaster to obtain 1 way links coming to their website, but the ones that do manage to find a way, do have something that most people don’t. Exchanging 2 or 3 way links with other people isn’t too helpful either and is pretty much a waste of time. You want more links coming to your website than going out. One good way to get links coming in to your website, is to pay other webmasters for a link pointing or directing to your website. It’s not easy to find 1 way links and people usually don’t do it for free. If you really want those extra links coming in to your website, be ready to pay a little money for it.

New Bruce Springsteen Sale

by Chris Padgett on Feb.17, 2009, under Favorite Singer

Do you like to find good deals on music? Anyone that is looking for the new Bruce Springsteen album will be in luck if they choose to buy it at Buy.com. They have a lot of low prices on a variety of things, but I thought the new Bruce Springsteen CD was really good. We just saw Springsteen perform the halftime show at this year’s Super Bowl in Tampa Bay. He put on a good show and was promoting his new album in Florida at the Super Bowl. I have a feeling his new music will be really popular. Not only does the Super Bowl feature Bruce Springsteen, but Buy.com is stocking up on his music too and this new album will be in demand.

You can check other places online and compare prices, but I think I will get my Springsteen music from Buy.com. These guys always have a sale going on and they have just about anything you would want. I always like to check in each day to see what the “Deal of the Day” is for today. You can also see other items in their “Featured Deals” and currently they have a vacuum cleaner, an Xbox 360 wireless controller, a video card from PNY GeForce, a Samsonite notebook case, and a storage binder for your CD’s and DVD’s. This is just a few of the items that are listed there and you can find other cool merchandise in this section or throughout the entire Buy.com website.

I love a sale and Bruce Springsteen’s new CD Working on a Dream is at a good price! It just came out on January 27th, 2009; so this is your chance to be the first one in the neighborhood to own it. It’s the 16th album he has made and they are a lot of great songs on it. After you get a chance to listen to it, please come back here and let me know what you thought. We know Bruce was the Boss in the 20th century; let’s see if he’s still got it in the 21st century.

Movie Updates

by Chris Padgett on Feb.17, 2009, under Favorite Movie

No big surprises at the box office over the weekend. I have been talking about this movie for over a month now and it was the number 1 movie over the weekend. Jason stormed through all the other movies in theaters and the new Friday the 13th movie is number one right now. It beat out He’s Just Not That Into You for the top overall movie.

A lot of people went to see this horror movie classic that was made into a new movie and it debuted on February 13th or last Friday. I was thinking it might go number 1 at the box office but you never know with these things. A family movie for kids is easier to predict than the adult movies and I’m sure Friday the 13th is for adults. I know a lot of kids like to watch these movies too, but they usually don’t make it to the theaters to watch it. The man wearing a hockey mask and slashing up people is back and people are paying to let Jason scare the you know what out of them!

The 3rd movie over the weekend was Taken. I am hearing some good things about this movie and it looks like a good one to go see too. The number 4 movie is for kids and it is called Coraline.

dakota-fanning-coraline

Dakota Fanning in Coraline

A few good movies to go see at the theaters right now. Movie watchers can seek out a PG-13 movie that has Dakota Fanning as the voice of Coraline Jones or go see Jason do his thing in Friday the 13th. There is also a couple of more choices in between or you can check out the 5th top movie called Confessions of a Shopaholic. I think I would be a shopaholic if I had enough money, so it’s hard to do when your poor. Don’t forget about Paul Blart: Mall Cop still playing at theaters nation wide too.

Two new movies will be starting this upcoming weekend and they are Fired Up! and Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail. I live just north of the Atlanta area, so I know who Tyler Perry is. I’m sure many of you know who Madea is and this will be her return to the big screen. The other movie “Fired Up!” will be about a couple of guys ditching football camp, so they can go be with the cheerleaders and attend cheer camp. I’m sure these two new movies will do well this weekend, but not sure any movie will pass the new Friday the 13th movie.

There is a lot of different styles of eyeglasses to choose from and they have all the accessories too. The clip-on additions to your normal glasses are some of the ones I like best from Zenni Optical. The ones I show in the picture above are available in a variety of colors. Everyone looking for a great pair of eyeglasses that are stylish to wear will find what they are looking for here. I visited their website for maybe 15 minutes and saw about a dozen pairs of quality eye wear that I wouldn’t mind owning.

NBA All Star Weekend Here

by Chris Padgett on Feb.13, 2009, under Uncategorized

These two basketball games on Friday night are just the start of all the fun on NBA All Star Weekend in Phoenix. Saturday night we will get to watch the 3 point contest and see the very popular dunk contest. It should be interesting to watch Dwight Howard from Orlando go against little Nate Robinson from the Knicks. We will also get to see the HORSE game that will be played by a few NBA stars. This is the first year that players will battle each other in a game of horse and I think fans will really like this new addition to the NBA All Star Weekend.

Credit Cards Boosting Sales

by Chris Padgett on Feb.13, 2009, under Finance

I think every business has concerns with the recent economic troubles that have been facing companies in many different countries all over the world. Big businesses and small businesses are paying attention to the “numbers” right now and deciding on how they can survive these tough times financially. It won’t be easy increasing customer base and sales when times are like this, so any angle and aspect are being looked at right now. Every business has to find a way to keep the working capital moving forward and the companies that do this the best in 2009, will be the ones still in business in 2010.

Lithotripsy for Kidney Stones

by Chris Padgett on Feb.06, 2009, under Cosmetic Surgery

I wanted to see what people thought about surgery in general. I know some stories are good to hear about how a surgical procedure allowed someone to do something they couldn’t previously do or haven’t done in years. On the flip side, some stories are not success stories and surgery only made the problem worse or created new problems. What is your opinion on sugery in general?

I have never gone under the “knife” but I have had the lithotripsy procedure done before and it’s considered a surgical procedure. Lithotripsy is a shockwave treatment and used to bust up stones in the kidney that are too big to pass. I have had dozens of kidney stones in my lifetime and they are no fun. If you have experienced the pain or know someone that has had a kidney stone before; then I’m sure you know all about the pain a kidney stone can create. If a kidney stone is located inside the kidney and is too big to pass, the doctors have to perfom lithotripsy to bust it up. The shockwaves from this procedure will turn the stone into sand for the most part. Some bigger pieces of the stone that break off may be a little hard to pass, but most of the stone will get broke up from lithotripsy. They will put you to sleep when you have this done and you won’t be in too much pain when you awake in most cases. I have went through the lithotripsy process two times and it really helped me both times. I was given plenty of pain medication after the procedure and a prescription to take home. The pain medication at the hospital was needed, but once I got home, there wasn’t a big need for any medication. I was given 60 pain pills for any pain that may creep up in the days after the procedure, but only about 10 to 12 of the pills were needed. I would strongly suggest saving the extra pills after lithotripsy, because you may have another kidney stone in the future and the pills do help some with the pain.

In my case surgery did work and was the answer to my problem. I think it is different for those that actually get cut from surgery. I have no scars from the shockwaves a lithotripsy procedure uses, but people that “go under the knife” will have scars. Surgery is a life-saving process and people everyday go on to live longer due to surgery. People with non life-threatening problems that require surgery, may be quite angry to see the surgery didn’t help or made things worse. Surgery can be a gamble and everyone should weigh the risks before choosing surgery as the answer.

Should Insurance Be a Choice?

by Chris Padgett on Feb.05, 2009, under Home Finance

I know when bad things happen we are all glad we have insurance to cover the damages. In some cases we don’t have the choice of owning insurance or not. I know for me to drive my car in the state of Georgia, I have to have it covered by insurance. It’s illegal in my state to not have auto insurance and I would like that choice to be mine; instead of a law that enforces it. All home owners should have home insurance and its easy to understand why. A fire or thunderstorm can cause a lot of damage to a home and insurance comes in handy during these awful times. For the price you pay each month or yearly; the insurance on your home is well worth it. The house is the most expensive thing we will buy in our lifetimes, so it makes sense to have that insured. I think other insurance plans should be a choice for everyone and no state laws should require a person to have insurance. This is just my opinion on the subject and I’m sure it would change if I go out tomorrow and have a bad accident on the road. Since I consider my self a safe driver, I would prefer not to own insurance if I had a choice in the matter.
