Super Bowl Calories
by Chris Padgett on Jan.27, 2009, under Uncategorized
The big party is about to happen this Sunday when the Arizona Cardinals fly down to Tampa Bay to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl. I could see this game going either way, but I can only see my waist line going one way and that would be out! I’m preparing all the goodies for Super Bowl Sunday and I will be stuffed watching the game. I actually will use the telephone to call in my orders of pizza, hot wings and bread sticks. I think these are the best snacks to eat while watching football. You can stuff yourself right before the game and at halftime just warm it up again and eat some more. After the game you can just swallow a weight loss pill and it will make you feel better about eating so much. Go ahead and enjoy the game and there are no diets allowed on Super Bowl Sunday!
Mall Cop: Number 1 Movie
by Chris Padgett on Jan.27, 2009, under Favorite Movie
The top show stopper at theaters right now is Mall Cop. I know the main actor Kevin James would prefer you say the whole name and not just refer to this movie as “Mall Cop”. Ok Kevin, your new movie Paul Blart Mall Cop is the top movie in theaters currently.
Paul Blart Mall Cop
I haven’t seen this movie yet, but it does look like a good one to see. I wonder why this movie didn’t open sooner and it would have fit the shopping season of Christmas so much better; than a January 16 release date. It didn’t seem to matter much and it’s doing very well at the box office right now.
Underworld and Gran Torino are the next top movies you can see right now. I’m surprised Clint Eastwood got beat out by Underworld and I think Gran Torino looks like a better movie to see. I guess it just depends on your movie taste, but any movie with Clint Eastwood is going to do well when it’s first released.
The movie that finished 6th in the standings was My Bloody Valentine and this is a 3D movie currently playing. My Bloody Valentine 3D is just the start of the movies and tv programs coming out that will be featuring the 3D technology. Please let me know if you have seen this movie yet and what you thought about it.
The new movies that will be coming out on January 30th are: New in Town, Taken, The Uninvited, The Class, and Serbis. I believe we could see a new number 1 this week and Paul Blart Mall Cop may drop a couple of spots. I’m not sure if the movie Taken has did enough advertising for their movie, but it looks like one that could be number 1 this week (if people know about it). The movie The Uninvited is the other one that could contend for that top spot in theaters this weekend.
The Uninvited
Taken’s Popular Scene
It should be interesting to see which one of these two movies come out on top this weekend. It looks like 2009 is off to a good start for those of us that like our movies. I believe Taken and The Uninvited will be two more solid movies that are worth the price of admission.
Recording My Favorite Things
by Chris Padgett on Jan.27, 2009, under Blogging
I think we go too fast in life sometimes and don’t stop to enjoy where we are now. It doesn’t always have to be about tomorrow and I wish I could go back to a lot of yesterdays. I wished I had recorded those times with a camcorder or just took some still pictures with my Canon camera. It would be fun to go back now and live those memories over again with the help of images from the days gone by.
If I don’t stop now and start recording my memories of today, I will find myself in the same position 5 or 10 years down the road. I know new and exciting things will happen again in my life and I hope I take the time to enjoy them more than I did the first time. I would like to always have my batteries charged in the camera and film just waiting to be used for these special moments. We don’t always know some things are special while it’s happening, so recording as many of my favorite things as possible would be the best way to go.
How many of us would like to see pictures or videos of the last time we spoke to a loved one that is no longer with us and has passed away now? I know in many cases we don’t know when that very last time might be, but if we record as much as possible, we will certainly be creating footage that we would treasure later in life. The birthdays and holidays we celebrate and all of the family reunions should be caught on film, for us to go back and see images and videos to help us remember those special times. Our cameras are great for vacations, but everyday moments are a great time to film too!

New Friday the 13th Movie
by Chris Padgett on Jan.22, 2009, under Favorite Movie
I never get tired of the horror movies and it was a surprise to see Jason Voorhees is coming back! That’s right, he’s coming out on February 13th, 2009 and this will be a “Friday the 13th”.
2009 Friday the 13th Movie
This new Friday the 13th movie looks great and I will probably go see it the first day it comes out. I know my nephew likes horror movies too and he’s already talking about seeing it the first day it hits theaters. I didn’t even realize this movie was coming out, until I seen the previews on television. We don’t get the horror movies much anymore, since the Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and Freddy Krueger’s of the world are “dead”.
For those that were around when the first Friday the 13th movie came out know just how big it was back then. When part 2 came out and was playing at theaters, everyone from kids to adults wanted to see what Jason would do next. The story that is behind Jason and the camp at Crystal Lake are legendary and it makes the movie even better.
So let the countdown begin and soon we can all go see the new Jason movie in theaters and see what’s up with this latest Friday the 13th movie. I really think this movie is going to be huge with it’s timing of coming out on Friday the 13th and the amount of time that has passed since one of the legendary serial killers, made an appearance on the big screen. I’m predicting 3 weeks in a row at the top spot and no movie will come close to it on opening night (Friday, February 13th)!
Be Patient in Check Out Lines
by Chris Padgett on Jan.18, 2009, under Blogging
I was at a supermarket the other day and was very mad that people were complaining because the person paying at the counter had cerebral palsy. That person took their time to wait in line like the rest of us and just because they were a little slow in paying at the cash register was no reason to get upset at that person. I really had to bite my tongue not to say anything to the others standing in line that was complaining about this person. The person was paying the fastest way their bodies would allow them too, but most in line at the supermarket didn’t understand that. Let’s please have a little more consideration for those at the grocery stores that may take a little extra time to pay for their merchandise at the supermarkets. There are lots of other times when people get rude while waiting in lines and we could all use a little more patience when waiting in lines these days. Cerebral palsy wouldn’t something these people ask for in their lives and they could use “special attention” when we do see somebody with a health disorder that might not be as fast at the supermarket as us.
Dieting Technology
by Chris Padgett on Jan.10, 2009, under Marketing
As our waist lines continue to grow, so does the products that help us try to lose weight. I think most of us can remember the first few diet pills we saw because of commercials on television and now the marketplace for dieting products has grew by leaps and bounds. The dieting technology continues to improve too and the diet pills of yesterday are being improved all the time. A popular dieting supplement like Ephedrasil has changed and its been improved with a new name called Ephedrasil hardcore. Other dieting pills and supplements are trying to change for the better too and other dieting products are trying to improve on yesterday’s technology. I think safer drugs in the dieting industry is what a lot of consumers look for today and people wanting to shed pounds, need to know the products they’re taking will be safe. I don’t think we have seen the best dieting products yet and 5 to 10 years from now, another product will come to the headlines. Let’s just hope as the dieting technology continues to grow our body fat won’t!
Jordan Crowder: 3 Hour Project
by Chris Padgett on Jan.10, 2009, under Uncategorized
What if you only had 3 hours to make a film and wasn’t allowed to edit. How well do you think your film would come out? How good do you think Stephen King or other famous Hollywood filmmakers would do in the 3 hours? I think 3 hours is enough time to come up with something, but not being able to edit anything would be the hard part in my opinion.
The rising filmmaker Jordan Crowder was put to that test and came up with a simple title for his project. It’s called Turtle and what could a genius mind like Mr. Crowder’s come up with in 3 hours about a turtle. No need to try and guess because you would never get it in a million years. Jordan put a real unique story together for this project he had to do in 3 hours. This short film runs about 5 minutes long and gives us an early glimpse into the mind of a budding fillmmaker that is sure to be making blockbuster movies on the big screen one day. Jordan might just get an acting role sometime in the near future if he continues to show his acting skills in these short films. So let’s take a look at Turtle that was created in 3 hours with no editing allowed.
Turtle by Jordan Crowder
What did you think? Do you think you could have did a better job in 3 hours? Please let me know what you liked or didn’t like about this project and what suggestions could you have made to help Jordan’s film turn out better?
Loans to Jump Start the Business
by Chris Padgett on Jan.09, 2009, under Finance
There are Franchise Loans available to help get a business going that might be currently struggling. The economic times right now are really hard for a lot of businesses and mainly the small businesses in America. We get to see the Government bailing out some of the richest companies in the United States, but they don’t help the small guys out with their financial problems. It’s the big businesses that have led us to these times and it’s unfair they get help and the small businesses don’t get anything.
A business that needs a boost financially can’t always wait for the money to arrive, so getting a fast business loan is a must for some businesses. Money is the lifeline to any business and when that lifeline runs dry or gets cut off, it can be the end for a lot of these struggling small businesses. A lender that does provide a loan to a small business needs to know that the business is going to avoid these problems in the future. I’m sure the business owners want to avoid this too and finding a way to grow your business during these times is a challenge they face.
I think many businesses can help their self by expanding their customer base and trying to get customers online or advertising on the World Wide Web is a good way to increase sales. The Internet is a great business tool if used properly and it’s really cheap to advertise online. If your business is lucky enough to get a franchise loan or any type of fast business loan, I think it would be wise to use some of that new money to focus on an advertising campaign, which would be seen by computer users all over the world. Be sure your business is also accepting credit cards as a form of payment, because just about everyone these days carry a credit card or debit card to make all their purchases with offline or online.
The South Rises Again!
by Chris Padgett on Jan.09, 2009, under Blogging
Florida Thumps Oklahoma in Title Game
If you listen real close you can hear a collective yawn coming from the South as we got to watch another over ranked team go down by double digits to a team from the South. The best college football is played in the South and everyone living here knows this. Your ESPN “college experts” like Kirk Herbstreet and Lee Corso aren’t aware of this yet and they continue to try put other teams around the country as equal or greater talent than we have in the South.
The Florida Gators only hiccup in the season this year was a missed PAT that would have sent a game into overtime earlier in the season and for that slight mistake, they almost didn’t get to play in the BCS Title Game this year. The biased media did manage to get them knocked down to number 2 in the country going into this championship game and I know they were all hoping to see Oklahoma win this one on Thursday night.
Florida had a different view and the fans from the Sunshine State knew they had already faced their competition this year by playing in the SEC each week. Facing a team like the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Longhorns, Ohio State Buckeyes, or the USC Trojans is a cupcake game and none of these teams present any real competition. All of these teams do have a huge advantage by playing weak teams each week and getting a chance to keep their starters fresh and uninjured during the season. So when they do get voted into a game they have no business being in, they do have all their weapons available.
So the South is yawning once again that we won another college football championship game and did it by double digits again. The college football fans around the country might want to see two good teams play in the National Championship Game one day, but the BCS and their money has to over rate teams, so the weak conferences look like they match up with teams from the South.
Kirk Herbstreet and his partner in crime Lee Corso have already focused on next year’s winners and we get to watch USC get another high ranking next year and have to wait for them to lose to a team that should never beat them. This really gets old every year and the BCS needs to realize the South comes first and other conferences need to follow. There would be no debates under the current system if the teams from the South got their proper respect. We haven’t forgot the Texas Longhorns and USC Trojans game either, where they wouldn’t let an undefeated Auburn Tigers team play in their money and media driven system.
ESPN can continue their ways of disrespecting the South, but you know the South is gonna rise again next year, the year after that, the year after that, and so on and so on! If they give us a chance that is! I guess we should just be thankful they give us the opportunity ever so often to showcase our college boys from the South.
Thanks for playing Big 10, Pac 10, Big 12, and you other non southern conferences; there will be some nice parting gifts for ya! As we like to say in the South “Ya’ll Come Back Now, Ya Hear?”

Your Reservations with Westgate
by Chris Padgett on Jan.05, 2009, under Home Finance
If you’re tired of the places you stay at on vacations or on business trips, you might want to consider making a reservation with Westgate. Several different states in which you can make a reservation through Westgate to insure you and your family has a great place to board at; while away from home. The Westgate Branson Woods have rooms that normally cost $84 a night, but travelers only have to pay $49 a night when using the services that Westgate provide. I think Branson, Missouri is a great destination for any family and staying there for less than 50 dollars a night makes a lot of sense. Be sure to check out places in Utah, Florida, South Carolina, Nevada, Virginia, and Tennessee for places to stay out through the help of Westgate and see what the current weather conditions are like from their website at various travel destinations.
Top Movies at the Start of 2009
by Chris Padgett on Jan.05, 2009, under Favorite Movie
The box office should be busy this upcoming week when two really good movies will start playing. Clint Eastwood has a new one coming out on January 9th called Gran Torino and it will have to battle with The Unborn that starts on that same day too. I would assume these will be the top 2 movies playing this weekend at theaters, but other movies will also be opening on that day; like Yonkers Joe, Bride Wars, and Not Easily Broken.
All of these new movies will have to beat out last week’s top playing movie at theaters; which was Marley and Me. Marley is a Labrador puppy and this is a comedy movie for the whole family and it is rated PG. It manage to beat out Bedtime Stories at number 2 and showing up at number 3 last weekend was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
It seems Tom Cruise is losing his magical touch at theaters and his new movie Valkyrie placed 4th last weekend and will probably drop out of the top 5 this weekend with The Unborn and Gran Torino debuting. The kid approved movies are the ones to beat and a lovable pup like Marley should continue to do well and another nice crowd should show up again to see Adam Sandler in the Walt Disney Pictures Bedtime Stories. What movie would you like to see most at theaters this weekend? Have we seen the last of Clint Eastwood? Does Tom Cruise fail his fans with his part in a movie based on a true story called Valkyrie?
Save Time by Rubber Stamping
by Chris Padgett on Jan.05, 2009, under Uncategorized
Some small businesses waste a great deal of time by writing or typing the same message over and over each day. A personalize stamp could save a lot of time and make your message look more professional. The bigger companies use a rubber stamp system that not only saves them time but money each day. A new business or a small business that is looking to close the gap with their competition could look to rubber stamps for help. I wish bloggers had a rubber stamp system for certain posts they would like to put on their blogs. I guess for computer users it’s still the copy and paste system, but that doesn’t have to be the case for offline businesses. Check out the different rubber stamps that are available today and see if any of them make sense for your business.
2009 New Year Celebration
by Chris Padgett on Jan.05, 2009, under Favorite Poker Games
The clock is a ticking and 2009 is almost here. We are less than 24 hours away from seeing the Big Apple in New York drop or if you live in Georgia seeing the Peach drop in downtown Atlanta. Everyone needs to make a New Year’s resolution and see how far in 2009 you get to that resolution.
I think 2008 was an ok year for me, but I do have bigger plans for 2009. I think money is my main concern and I do hope I make more money in 2009 than 2008. My New Year’s resolution will be that for right now and I may come up with a few more before midnight gets here tonight.
I plan to travel to Cherokee, North Carolina to bring in the New Year. Spending a little time gambling at the casino up there is a good way to start a New Year. Especially if I luck up and win a lot of money. Now that would be the perfect way to start off any year as far as I am concerned. Just be thankful we made it through another year and let’s hope that 2009 goes as smooth as possible and we can still be here to ring in the 2010 year; which will be here before you know it.
Happy New Year Everyone!
