Term Life Insurance with the Family
by Chris Padgett on Dec.31, 2008, under Finance
The best bet if you want term life insurance is to search online. This is an easier approach than spending a lot of time searching for the best offers available and you still run the risk of over-looking a cheap term life insurance policy. A good direction for you and your family to start off the New Year is by sitting down and discussing term life insurance for everyone in the household. Just be patient and selective with what choice you make, so you know you chose the plan with the lowest possible rates.
Advertising Online
by Chris Padgett on Dec.22, 2008, under Marketing
The marketers online today use every bit of the internet they can to drive more traffic to their websites or interests. Blogs and traffic exchanges is a good way for any webmaster to start delivering higher traffic numbers to their site. There are so many great benefits to take advantage of, when you do see an increase of daily visitors showing up at your website. All webmasters need to take advantage of the thousands of new hits they can receive from a traffic exchange. I would suggest all webmasters using at least 5 different traffic exchanges to start creating that avenue of traffic that is available for free online.
You can’t beat free traffic and any place that you can find free traffic should be embraced and used by the webmaster. The quality of traffic does matter for search engine benefits and you will want to make sure you deliver quality traffic too. You will find quality traffic by having a website that provides valuable information or a service to the visitors showing up. This will be the people that return to your website over and over to take advantage of the quality services or information that your website might be providing. You can’t start your website off with quality traffic and new websites need any kind of traffic to get them up and going. Search engines do reward websites with higher traffic volumes and they are not to picky about the quality of traffic. A ton of traffic gets you indexed in the search engines and this is your first step as a webmaster. Quality traffic will determine later on how high you can climb in the search engine rankings. Google Ranked Us is one good place to start getting a ton of free traffic. Once you see your website listed in the search engines, you can take a better focus on the content of your website and make sure new visitors bookmark or save your website to their favorites, so they can return again in the future. Take time now to market like others are on the World Wide Web and start advertising online as much as you can.
S-300 Missles in Iran?
by Chris Padgett on Dec.22, 2008, under Blogging
The U.S. is strongly opposed to Russia selling S-300 missles to the country of Iran. These missles could risk the security of U.S. troops in the nearby region and the United States has made this clear to high-level Russian officials. What isn’t clear if these S-300 missles are in fact being sold to the Iranian governement. Russia is supplying Iran with weapons and it seems this knowledge is widely known. The U.S. doesn’t want Iraq possesing these long range missles and the threat it could bring to the Middle East region. Russian officials aren’t being clear what exactly is being sold to the Iranian government and this is leaving a conflict between the U.S. and Russia right now.
Russia is already uspet with the actions that America has done in the Georgia Conflict and with the defense system being set up in Poland. The Russians may see this as an opportunity to get back at the U.S. government, by allowing long range missles inside the border of Iran. If any of these S-300 missles are to be found inside of Iraq, the U.S. military could make swift decisions and attack these places that house the long range missles from Russia. This is going to be a very important story over the next few months and it should be interesting to see how much more of a strain the U.S. and Russia can take from each other as things continue to grow intense between the two large nations. Russia might want to think twice, before they make such a bold decision and relize any risk to the troops in the Middle East caused by them, will be a move that forces them to have to watch their own skies and borders for a U.S. attack inside the Russian nation.

Do You Have a Blog Yet?
by Chris Padgett on Dec.21, 2008, under Blogging
If you don’t currently have a blog, you’re missing out on a valuable marketing tool. A blog is a marketing tool for many and it helps people to promote their websites and affiliate pages. Most companies see the value of a blog these days and they are all taking advantage of the services a blog offers. A big or small business can talk about upcoming promotions or specials they may have, list employment opportunities, or just talk about their stock to investors. There are dozens of things that a company can post in their blog and it makes it a useful tool to keep around.
Individuals should have blogs to help promote their online interests. You can also find many blogging companies that will pay you for links or posts in your blog; once you have an established blog that receives traffic daily. This is another good way to earn money online and so many other things that make owning a blog now a good decision for any person or small business. Blogs that have their own domain name do best, but start out with a free blog and later on you can transfer your posts over to your paid blog.
June 30th, 2009 Housing Help
by Chris Padgett on Dec.21, 2008, under Home Finance
The housing problems continue to face home owners and new home buyers looking for the American Dream. This will end soon, but not before a few things get fixed first. It’s gonna take another 6 months for the housing situation to fix and people will just have to hold on until then. The real estate companies and hardware stores will have to be patient until June gets here of next year. It will be June 30th when everything starts to look bright and home sales and homes will begin flourishing once again.
Some people may not be able to hold on for another 6 months and these people may be in trouble. It will take the housing industry more time to get things straight. Everything will be fine after June 30th of 2009, but not a minute sooner. These are the tough times we’re facing right now and everyone will just have to sit back and bite their tongues on this one. I know it’s hard and it will get a little harder before things start to look up in our housing sector in America. June 30th is the date we can see improvements and these will be across the board for everyone involved in the housing industry.
Twas the Night Before Christmas…
by Chris Padgett on Dec.20, 2008, under Blogging
They were all snuggled in a sleep number bed with visions of Santa bringing lots of toys in their head. Actually they might have already got their Christmas present if they were sleeping in a bed as comfortable as one of the Sleep Number Beds. Not too many people would be waking up at 6 AM in the morning if they were sleeping in one of these beds. They are great for sleeping or relaxing in during the day watching television from. These beds aren’t just for the adults and if you don’t want your children sleeping with you; better get them one too.
A lot of people have trouble sleeping or sleeping disorders that a doctor has to treat. I wonder how many of these people have good sleeping habits. It’s not a good idea to eat or drink things with caffeine or sugar in them after 8 PM. Another good sleeping tip is not to have any lights on in the room and this means a clock/radio that produces some form of light. 100 years ago, people went to bed when it got dark outside, because there was nothing to do after dark. Those days have changed, but now we have lots of people with sleeping problems. Some experts believe that lights are the biggest factor in people that have trouble getting a good night’s sleep. So try turning off everything in your room that emits a light source and see if this helps. A good bed can be important too and this should help some people with sleeping better at night. The kids will still have a hard time on Christmas Eve but the other 364 days should be easy falling asleep at night.
Tech Gifts from Santa
by Chris Padgett on Dec.19, 2008, under Uncategorized
A new flash drive or a cable for the desktop computer is something little you may need for your setup right now. If I am going to buy you a gift for Christmas or a birthday gift, I want to give you something good; at least something that you will use and get something done with it. I hate getting gifts that I have no use for and I certainly hate giving them. I don’t want to sound like Grinch, but that’s just the way I believe. They say it’s the thought that counts, but I disagree with that and it’s really the gift that counts. So keep that in mind this year, if you plan to play Santa and get gifts for family and friends.
Cherokee Gambling
by Chris Padgett on Dec.19, 2008, under Favorite Poker Games
Up there in the mountains of North Carolina is a little casino nestled between the Smokey Mountains. It’s located on a Indian Reservation in North Carolina and it takes a little over 2 hours to get there from my house. I like having a casino that close and its a good thing that there isn’t one closer than that. If I could gamble everyday, I probably would be doing that and I would be broke all the time. I’m already broke all the time, but a casino located any closer to me than the one in Cherokee, North Carolina; I really would be broke.
I had great success my first trip there and at one point I had $1900 in my pocket. This is pretty good considering I only brought $130 with me to gamble on. I didn’t manage to make it home with that much, because after I won, I did give some of it back by gambling more. I did manage to get home with $1500+ and that was a great feeling. I have gone a couple of times sense then, but still haven’t had the success like I did that first time. As of right now, me and a few friends are planning a trip there on New Year’s Eve. We will get to the casino in North Carolina around 9 that evening and stay past midnight gambling the night away. I hope I get lucky and a slot machine will reward me with another nice payoff or two. It would be a great way to start the 2009 year, if I can manage to go up there and win a $1000 payout or more.
Have you gone to the casino in North Carolina before? Please let me know if you have made a trip to North Carolina and how much did you win? I spoke to two different people that won about $700 on two different penny slot machines. I like the 1 cent and 5 cent slot machines. You get a chance to play longer and you can win nice payouts from them too.
Food Worse with No Trans Fats
by Chris Padgett on Dec.19, 2008, under Blogging
I think we over reacted to the trans fat scare news; when we learned that heart disease was a direct link with these types of fats. Now our foods don’t have them and they just don’t taste as good. Fried chicken at fast food restaurants isn’t that great tasting anymore and our potato chips have lost their flavor. I hope we take a different approach on this matter and let trans gram fats back into our foods. Give consumers a choice on the matter and don’t make a decision for us. If you eat a few more fats than normal, you can always take diet pills or exercise a little more if you want. You could also shop for foods that don’t have trans fats in them. I would like for shoppers to be able to go to the aisle in the grocery store that has potato chips and see some listed with no trans fats and some with trans fats in them. If we have a choice on the matter, it makes the decision more acceptable. It’s not good that the government decides this without us and now we don’t get to eat foods that are that great tasting, due to the steps the government has taken against trans gram fats in food. Everyone is aware of the dangers of trans gram fats now and we can eat a more sensible diet. I would even eat food less that has trans fats in them, but I do want to eat them sometimes and I hope we get trans gram fats back into our foods like potato chips and fried chicken.
National Lampoon’s Movies
by Chris Padgett on Dec.19, 2008, under Favorite Movie
The National Lampoon Movies have been some of the funniest movies ever. I wanted to see the history of how it all began and a list of all their movies. That’s proved a little harder than I imagined and it’s tough to see the history of National Lampoon. While doing searches online I found a company called National Lampoon Inc and this company started in 2002. Now most of us know they had a lot of movies before 2002, but the “Inc” company isn’t claiming any of those movies. So if anyone knows or can provide any information on the history of National Lampoon, I would appreciate a reply on any information that you may have. Perhaps a previous actor, director, or employee working with National Lampoon is reading this blog post now, could help fill in some of the gaps I have on the National Lampoon story.
I know one of the most popular movies was the hit back in 1978 called Animal House. National Lampoon’s Animal House is a cult favorite and really did well for the entire decade of the 80′s, but that trend has continued today and a lot of people still take the time to watch it, when it comes on tv from time to time. John Belushi was in his 7th year of college at the fictional Faber College and his character is the first one I think of; when someone mentions the name Animal House. This movie came out in 1978, but was based in 1962. To the best of my knowledge and what I have been able to gather up, Animal House was the first National Lampoon’s movie.
Based on the National Lampoon Inc company, their first movie starts with Van Wilder in 2002 and this is the same year that the company got their start in. Repli-Kate followed Van Wilder in 2002 and these were the only two movies that came out that year. The following year in 2003, the movies Blackball, Gold Diggers, Dorm Daze, Barely Legal, Thanksgiving Family Reunion, and Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie’s Island Adventure was all made in 1 year. I’m sure the owners of the National Lampoon name was really happy in 2003, to have so many good movies to come out. They produced 3 movies in 2004, but really only 1 was considered a hit and Going the Distance wasn’t really that great of a movie. We would get to see 6 movies come out in 2005 and really all of these movies failed, with the exception of Adam and Eve and it was an average flick. 9 movies would fall under the National Lampoon’s name in 2006 and you had 2 or 3 movies that year that were descent, but still far from the expectations we have from a National Lampoon’s movie. The 2007 year produced only 2 movies and in 2008 National Lampoon has been throwing them out left and right and got 9 new movies released this year. If you weren’t aware of 9 movies coming out this year from National Lampoon, don’t feel alone. I will list all of the 2008 National Lampoon movies and tell me how many of these you know.
2008 National Lampoon Movies
1. Bag Boy
2. Jake’s Booty Call
3. Electric Apricot: Quest for Festeroo
4. One, Two Many
5. 301: The Legend of Awesomest Maximus Wallace Leonidas
6. National Lampoon’s Home Erectus
7. Ratko: The Dictator’s Son
8. Dirty Movie
9. RoboDoc
These movies are not that well known and it seems like National Lampoon is more concerned about quantity than quality these days. I don’t see any movies listed for the upcoming 2009 year, but in 2010 you can expect to see Snatched. I think National Lampoon needs to find that theme once again and a spark of magic, like they had with Chevy Chase and the Griswold family. The name National Lampoon is still something that can get people to buy a movie ticket, but that might not hold true if they keep producing these movies that no one knows about or isn’t getting billed as something to see.
Please be sure to pass along any information you have about National Lampoon and see if we can pinpoint what is going on behind the scenes of this movie company.
Small Business to Big Business
by Chris Padgett on Dec.13, 2008, under Finance
Sometimes to catch the big boys in business you have to play like them. I know a lot of small businesses can add a professional touch to their company by selecting gift cards with their name or logo on it. A small business could create a typical gift card that would be good for buying merchandise or services from their own company. I think this would add a nice touch to any business and a gift card is just one more promotional tool a company could benefit from. There are other ways a business could take advantage of gift cards and only giving them out to employees is another way to give off that professional appearance. Sometimes in business a company has to project their selves out larger than what they really are. This strategy can pay off later if the employees and customers start to believe this big business image and the tables could get turned; where the competition is now chasing your small business. You just never know what or when a company will have a huge break and a gift card could do the trick for some small business out there. Just jot down the “pros” and “cons” of adding gift cards and see which one prevails for your business’s future.
Top 3 Movies Now Playing
by Chris Padgett on Dec.13, 2008, under Favorite Movie
The box office continues to be kind to the top Christmas movie of the year and this movie is currently doing better than all movies in theaters. Four Christmases is racking in the dollars and people want to see a good Christmas flick this time of the year. The word of mouth is getting around and the people that have seen this movie already, did like what they saw and this is driving new people to see this holiday movie.
The 2nd top movie is Twilight and you just had a feeling this movie was going to do well this fall in theaters. A vampire movie that targets a teen audience but isn’t too bad for the tween crowd and the adults are fulfilling their vampire cravings. I can’t see this movie dropping out of the top 5 anytime soon and should have a strong finish as the 2008 year winds down. Right behind Twilight last week is a cartoon movie from Disney. The animated hit Bolt is holding it’s own and this is the movie for all the ones too young to see Twilight.
I know a lot of people catch a movie during the Christmas holidays and it is nice to see 3 good choices playing right now that we can go see. Have you seen any of these 3 hot movies yet? If you have seen Four Christmases, Twilight, or Bolt; please be sure to leave a review and tell us if you liked it or not. Don’t give away any endings or spoilers, just a generic review will do and maybe others can decide which one they will make plans to see. If these 3 movies don’t interest you or you have seen the ones you wanted to see; the movie Australia came in 4th place at the box office last weekend.

Popular Video Games Right Now
by Chris Padgett on Dec.09, 2008, under Favorite Poker Games
If your kids own a gaming system and you was looking to get them a new game this year, I have a list of some of the most popular video games on the market right now. These games are hot and its the ones video gamers want to play the most. If you find yourself in the dark when it comes to video games; don’t feel bad because you’re not alone. Here is a list you can copy and take with you to the video game store, so you can pick up some of the games your children will love the most. They may be a couple of adults on your shopping list that would enjoy playing some of these games.
1. Saints Row 2
2. Dead Space
3. Far Cry 2
4. Fable 2
5. LittleBigPlanet
6. Guitar Hero World Tour
7. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
8. Fallout 3
9. Tom Clancy’s Endwar
10. Resistance 2
11. Gears of War 2
12. Valkyria Chronicles
13. Mirror’s Edge
14. World of Warcraft: Wrath of Lich King
15. Left 4 Dead
You can certainly earn some brownie points with the kids this year if you can find enough money to buy a couple of these games. I know Guitar Hero is a very popular game and the Guitar Hero World Tour will be just as popular I’m sure. Tom Clancy’s Endwar is another video game that I hear a lot of buzz about and this may be another good choice to throw in the shopping cart. I think video game sales are going to do fine this year, despite the tough financial times most of us are having right now. The video game generation is here and they aren’t going any where no time soon.

Obama’s Citizenship Blocks His Road to the White House?
by Chris Padgett on Dec.09, 2008, under Uncategorized
To be president of the United States there is a little thing in the Constitution that states you have to be a natural born citizen of this country. Apparently this little qualification isn’t important to the Supreme Court or that is what Judge Clearance Thomas said on the matter of Barack Obama’s citizenship. One lawyer filed a lawsuit stating Barack was born in Hawaii to a British citizen and this would make him half American and half British. Another lawsuit isn’t even given the newly elected president half of the citizenship and it states that Obama was born in Kenya and the records in Hawaii was falsified.
I can’t say where the man was born at, but I do see some statements now that are nothing like his campaign speeches. He said we needed change and he was the man that could do it. Now we are hearing that the economy is so bad it will take a long time to fix and it’s even going to get worse before it gets better. So when Barack Obama promised the citizens of this country change, he really didn’t mislead them, he just forgot to tell them it was a change for the worse. I’m willing to give Obama a chance on January 20th, but hearing the latest news of the false documents in Hawaii and now we also learn that Barack Obama is still smoking. Not sure why he would tell voters and the citizens living and working in this country that he had quit smoking; then after elected he informs us that he hasn’t totally quit. You factor these things in with the ties to terrorist Obama has and the church he was attending, that had a man preaching down on America and it’s good reason to give the people in this country concern or at least a raised eyebrow.
I’m not sure if any judge or court system in America is going to sit down and carefully review all of the lawsuits coming in. Obama is by no means sitting in the driver seat and he’s going to have to prove a lot to the people that didn’t vote for him on election day. I think with all of the latest news surfacing about Obama’s citizenship and that he is still a smoker; he may just have to prove his worth to the people that did vote for him on election Tuesday in November.
Just for the record I don’t consider myself a Republican or Democrat. I consider myself an American and I want the next president to succeed because it is for the better welfare of my country. No Republican here trying to take cheap shots at the newly elected democratic president. I think a birth in Kenya and creating fake documents in Hawaii is grounds to block his presidency if any of this ever comes to truth. I guess the fireworks won’t begin on January 20th and the new president is already facing the pressure that the 43 men before him had to face too.
Business Christmas Cards
by Chris Padgett on Dec.08, 2008, under Marketing
Have you or your small business ever thought about buying Christmas cards in bulk? I think it’s a great way to save money and its a nice touch to send employees and your most loyal customers. You will even have a little something to send to those distant relatives and friends that you don’t see much during the year. Christmas is a special holiday and you can make it more special this year by sending out Christmas cards to everyone. It makes good business sense too if you think about it. Most small businesses struggle to keep up with their competition or they’re just always looking for a way to get the upper hand. The competition might not be sending out Corporate Holiday Cards and this is a way for you to separate from the other guys.
The leader in personalized Christmas cards is The Gallery Collection and they can be found at GallleryCollection.com. You don’t become the leader by having a low selection to choose from or a price that isn’t reasonable. You will see they offer affordable solutions for business Christmas cards and I found several cards that I liked. If you get a chance to check them out look for the Winter Sparkle Holiday, Skating in the Park, Sparkle Bear Greetings, Moonlit Forest Holiday, or the Glittering Poinsettias cards; these were just a few that caught my eye, out of the 197 different Christmas cards to choose from.
The Gallery Collection is also sponsoring free downloads of the Christmas Carol on DailyLit.com. The Charles Dickens’s classic that has Scrooge and he gets a visit from those 3 ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Future, you know this one, right? This is just a nice holiday gesture they are doing for free, so everyone can start feeling the Christmas spirit this year. Go take advantage of the free download and pick out a Christmas card you can send to your employees or co-workers. Any that you have left over can be sent to family, neighbors, friends or you won’t have to worry about buying any personalized Christmas cards for next year!
Gators & Sooners Set to Clash
by Chris Padgett on Dec.08, 2008, under Favorite Blog
The BCS Champion will be crowned after the Oklahoma Sooners and Florida Gators play their football game. Florida has actually won the college football title for this year, because they beat the 2nd best team in the country, which was the Alabama Crimson Tide. It’s all about who you play during the year and the other football conferences don’t stack up to the SEC. The ACC is full of talent and good teams and they deserve to play SEC teams and be ranked with them. All other schools outside of the ACC and SEC just confuse the polls and voters. This is why we have Ohio State getting blown out every year and they have to play a team from the South and they just don’t match up. Even the weak PAC 10 manages to put a team like USC in the top 10 in the country and that team can’t even win their games against that weak Pac 10 competition. The Oklahoma Sooners may or may not have a good team this year. We don’t really know the answer to this because they haven’t been tested with good competition yet. If they beat Florida or lose by single digits I will be impressed and know they had a good football team this year. If they are on the losing side by 20 points or more; then it just shows once again how these other conferences are way over ranked.
Other great bowl games college fans will get to see this year
Sugar Bowl: Utah .vs. Alabama
Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech .vs. Cincinnati
Chick-Fil-A Game: Georgia Tech .vs. LSU
Capital One Game: Michigan State .vs. Georgia
Gator Bowl: Clemson .vs. Nebraska
Liberty Game: Kentucky .vs. East Carolina
These are some of the more desirable bowl games you will see this year. I’m not sure why some of those teams are playing in BCS Bowl games when they didn’t play a real football team all year and still manage to lose along the way. I guess we will never determine who’s the best until a playoff system is in place. I know they don’t want this to happen because of the teams that don’t play in the ACC or SEC would never stand a chance in a game with the type of talent these teams put out on the field every Saturday.
