Atlanta Thrashers Start Season Tonight

The puck will drop tonight and the Atlanta Thrashers will get their 2008/2009 season off and running against the Washington Capitals. I like what the Thrashers have did in the off-season and they should be a tough team to beat this year in the NHL.

The Thrashers look like they will be a better defensive team this year and I think that will be a big plus for Thrasher fans. Mathieu Schneider was a huge addition on the defensive side and I can’t see many teams scoring on the Atlanta Thrashers this year. The problem might also consist of the Thrashers not being able to score and their defense will be key into keeping the team close in the 3rd period with a chance to win. The Atlanta Thrashers rank 26th in the power rankings and I can understand why the hockey community thinks this way. I think they will prove to be much higher than that, if they can stay healthy and the defense does hold teams to 3 goals or less a game. A team that can score 4 or more goals in a game, will be the games the Thrashers will lose, because they just don’t have the offensive firepower to score 4 goals this season. If the chemistry blends well at the start and we can make a trade later on in the season for a big time offensive player, the Atlanta Thrashers could make the NHL playoffs this year.

The Washington Capitals sniper from Russia will test the Thrasher defense tonight and Ilya Kovaluchuk will need to knock a few pucks in the basket to help the Thrashers get off to a winning season. The two Russian players will be the featured match up and the winner of this individual battle, might just prove which team skates away with a win tonight. I’m sure Thrasher fans and just hockey fans in general are glad that the NHL season is finally here and it all gets started tonight!

Start a Family Tree

It can be very exciting to trace our roots back and see what occupations our relatives did or just where our ancestors came from. Many of us find that we had someone famous in our family tree if we go back far enough. I think my roots go back to around the area of Europe that is located in the area of Norway today. I never tried the family tree maker myself, but I had cousins that traced our family origin back a few generations. I would like to give it a try sometime and see how far I could go back in time. FindFamilyTree.org is a good place to start for anyone that is planning to do a family tree. They have a huge database of all the important documents that will help you trace the roots of your family history back. It can be a little tough just getting started, but most families have a aunt or uncle that can give you a big head start and I would suggest talking with them, before you start using your computers to get the family tree growing.

If you have done your family tree in the past or perhaps you did it in high school, please be sure to share the things that helped you the most with your family tree. Did you find out anything that surprised you and did your information rewrite the family history? Share anything you think might be helpful to others that would benefit them with their own family trees. If the whole family tree process seems hard and you don’t even know the first step you should take; then please look at FindFamilyTree.org and use their services as a starting point.

Tim McGraw: Number 8 Song

The Tim McGraw Countdown continues and I will be posting the country superstar’s biggest songs over the next few weeks. I have already got the first two songs taken care of and now it’s time for number 8 on the countdown.

8th Best Tim McGraw Song

Just to show how big of a star Tim McGraw is you can look at this song and see how he got together with a big R&B star like Nelly and made this great song work. Both musical talents did well with this song Over and Over Again and it was a big hit on the charts and in other countries too. It peaked at number 1 in Australia and in the UK given both artists world-wide fame. Tim has had other songs do well overseas and it’s not like this was the song that introduced him to the world, but it is another great song that has landed Tim McGraw as one of the best country music singers ever.

The thing that makes this song so catchy are the lyrics and they say the chorus over and over again, just like the title of the song suggests. When you listen to the same lyrics over and over, it makes you more familiar with a song and this song does just that. I believe this song with Nelly is one of Tim’s top 10 songs of all time and was worthy of a spot in my top 10 countdown.

I have a good feeling you haven’t seen the last of someone else teaming up with the legendary Tim McGraw and he has had other mega hits, where he shared the vocals with someone else. He has the amazing ability to turn out songs of just him singing or to work with someone else and make the magic happen. I don’t think a lot of big time artists could do this and wouldn’t be able to work with another big star. Nelly has his own name and most would even say this is Nelly’s song and it just features Tim McGraw on it. I think this goes with the thing that has made him such a big star today and Tim McGraw doesn’t care about which name is first on the list and it probably wasn’t even a concern of his to be mentioned 2nd on this great song. Nelly has a good voice and does wonders for this song, but without Tim McGraw helping out, this song would never go to number 1 in places like the UK and Australia. Both men did a great job with Over and Over Again and I think they left their egos at the door and it allowed us fans to hear this catchy song. Well done gentlemen!

Don’t worry if you haven’t saw your favorite Tim McGraw song yet, because My Favorite Blank will show the best Tim McGraw songs ever and you will see your favorite Tim McGraw songs very soon!

Where Does Business End?

I wouldn’t need much right now to make me happy in the financial sense. I would be thrilled if I owned a small bar with a few pool tables in it and to me that would be the perfect business. I know if the business gets popular and you need more seating and pool tables to make people happier, you would want to expand the business. You’re not only making your customers more comfortable, but your financial situation improves and you start making more money. The more money you make, gives you more thought of expansion or just opening up a new pool hall or bar in a new city or community. So I could see this process going on and on, until you reached the point that you owned one of those las vegas hotels. I’m sure a big hotel located in a city like Las Vegas would be the ultimate business to own and even that might not be the end of the business road. I can’t think of too many ways that you could move up from there, but I guess starting a chain of hotels and casinos all over the country would be the next logical step. I don’t have any plans to own a big hotel located in a big city, but the much smaller dream of running my own pool hall would be something I would like right now.

Hunting in the Fall

It’s not deer season yet, but the trees are losing their leaves and it makes it a perfect time to squirrel hunt. You can see them much better after the big oaks and hickory nut trees lose their leaves. I have the best luck during the early morning hours or just before dark. They aren’t too active during the middle of the day, but right after the sunrise and just before the sunset you can find them jumping and running from tree to tree. I think a small shotgun is the best way to go, but you can challenge yourself and use a .22 caliber gun. Shooting squirrels with a 22 will help get you in practice for the deer, so it will seem easier when you break out the Nikon rifle scopes. I think all hunters are glad to see the cooler days finally getting here and we can start strolling out into the woods more and enjoy some fall hunting.

Stocks Still Falling…

The markets aren’t done yet and now they have sunk below 9,000 on Wall Street. It’s hard to believe that they continue to fall after the 700 billion dollar bailout plan and with interest rates getting cut too. I have done my own calculations and in the worse case scenario I see the level stopping at 6,800. I will be surprised to see it go under 7,500, but we could substain a market level at 6,800 right now. If things go any further than that, I’m not sure the runaway train could be stopped and the Stock Market would crash. It’s my own calculations and something I can sleep easier at night with, knowing that the Markets are far from the 6,800 level.

Let’s hope things don’t get this bad and soon we can start to see certain sectors of the market gaining steam. The financial and housing sectors will have to move eventually, but housing won’t get corrected until June 30th of 2009, so we can’t expect much help there. The holiday season does have magical powers and history has shown the months of November and December being very good to a sick market. If Wall Street is still the main topic at Thanksgiving Dinner; this may cause immediate problems for the Friday after Turkey Day when so many consumers go consuming. This isn’t a good time to be given stock tips, but anyone that has a little extra money to play around with right now, should look at Google and anytime you find their shares for under 500 dollars is a good buy right now. I know many bargains exist, but Google might be the best one and shares are going for under $400 right now and I strongly believe a very small amount of people will profit from Google, because so many other bargains exist that are safer right now.
