UK Mortgage Seekers Act Fast

Now is the time to act on a mortgage as over 1 million fixed rate mortgages are due to expire in 2008 and brokers are urging citizens to snatch up these offers before they are gone. If you’re in a position to make a move to a new mortgage; now is the time to get in on the action. You can find places online to compare Mortgages and get the deal that is most suitable for you. Locking in your fixed rate now, could save people lots of money down the road as changes may be just around the corner. Buying a home or land is just like buying something at the supermarket. You want the best deal for your money so you compare the other brands before you pick out your groceries every week. See all the available mortgages that exist on the market today and see which one is best suited to you and your family’s budget. Taking a little time to compare mortgages can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars down the road. Most people will still be paying for their mortgages decades from now; so locking in a fixed rate now could be the best way to go!

Top 10 Rock Ballads of All Time

The countdown is on to find the top 10 rock ballads of all time. Those great songs from the 80’s and 90’s that still makes us want to crank up the radio when we hear them. A rock ballad is that one song you can identify a rock band or singer with. The ballad is like their theme song or it can be the first song that comes to your mind when you hear the singer or group’s name. I love a lot of the rock ballads that have came out over the years and this will be tough to get the top 10 of all time in this countdown. I’m sure I could pick 50 great rock ballads and I will still leave one off.

So to get the countdown started I will start with number 10 and work my way up to number 1. I will release a new ballad every few days and you can chime in and let me know how I am doing with my countdown to the greatest rock ballad of all time!

10th Best Rock Ballad of All Time

For anyone that was around when this song came out can remember just how popular it was. If you ever had the chance to attend a Cinderella concert you would get chills just listening to the piano that would start this song off. It’s truly a classic and I think it will be one rock ballad that will always be associated with the group Cinderella.

So number 10 is in the books and I have 9 more great rock ballads to come, so stick around and see which one I will name as the greatest rock ballad of all time!

Yard Sale Bargains

I don’t have much time these days and the weather is still pretty cold, but I do love seeing all the yard sales on the weekends. You can really find some good bargains out there and if you make a habit of going to yard sales, you will come away with some nice finds. I like the fact that most things in yard sales will go cheaper than the price that might be on them. So it’s a great opportunity for us bargain hunters that like to talk down the price of the items that we might see. I’m still looking for a good deal on a homemade quilt. I find ones that I like, but they are still out of my price range. I know homemade quilts take a lot of time to make and are worth the hundreds that most people sell them for, but I would like to find one a little cheaper. I would like a homemade quilt as a mattress topper for my bed. Just something that would look nice if I have company in my bedroom. So when the weather gets a little warmer and the yard sales start happening, I will be looking for a homemade quilt that has a good price tag with it!

The New Rambo Movie?

Has anyone seen it yet? I haven’t heard anyone talking about it and was just curious. I haven’t had a chance to go and see it yet; but I’m sure I will like it. I love all the Rambo and Rocky movies and I’m sure the newest Rambo movie will be good too. I did see some funny t-shirts that had Rocky and Rambo as an old guy with a walker and shooting a machine gun or an old man with boxing gloves in the nursing home. It is amazing to see Sly Stallone in his 60’s and still doing these action movies. I guess he and Clint Eastwood just really enjoy making movies and the money has never been a issue for them. That’s the reason that both actors have so many great movies out. Please be sure to tell me about the new Rambo movie if you have seen it. Give me a rating scale 1-10; with 10 being a great movie and 1 means it wasn’t worth the 8 dollar ticket price.

Boston Red Sox Players Get Greedy

Yes, once again greed has consumed Major League Baseball and this time it’s the players for the Boston Red Sox. They were threatening to boycott the baseball game in Japan due to money. OH WHAT’S THAT TERRY? You want to make it perfectly clear this wasn’t about the players and it was the others associated with the team? Well my friend let me make this perfectly clear; the average baseball player makes more in one year; than a guy in corporate America makes in 25 years. If your words meant anything Mr. Terry Francona this story would have never been an issue or been brought up in the media. If the players care so much, just let them donate 1 percent of their pay to the coaches, trainers and other people that is associated with the team. Instead your players chose to deprive the fans here and in Japan of watching Major League Baseball. Sure your players were sticking up for the low paying guys working with the team; but the only way they knew how to do this was by not taking the field?

The Boston Red Sox has now become the lead culprit in the ugly world of baseball. Why we are in 2008 and still don’t have a level playing field for all the teams is beyond me. It’s only spring training and we are already hearing about the rich spoiled brats of summer trying to keep fans from baseball again. Many will agree with what the players were thinking; but they went about it all wrong. Terry Francona allowed this to go on while the team was on his watch and I hold Terry Francona personally responsible.

So Terry Francona the manager of the Boston Red Sox thinks he’s so big to make that opening announcement about making it perfectly clear that this wasn’t about the players and being greedy; well you’re dead wrong! Its money, money and more money and baseball has once again lost another step to all the other sports leagues and this time we can directly point the finger at Terry Francona and the Boston Red Sox. Who cares about the Red Sox spring training games, regular season games or even post season games; when they have one of the highest salaries in Major League Baseball and now they won’t the fans to miss more baseball as they try to get more money for people associated with the team.

The Boston Red Sox don’t get it; Terry Francona doesn’t get it and Major League Baseball has never gotten it! Sorry Red Sox fans and I know this must not be pleasing to hear, but your players were greedy and this was the wrong approach and Terry Francona allowed it. No more Red Sox baseball cards or memorabilia for me, I will stick to the pinstripes from New York or the merchandise from my local team the Atlanta Braves. Yes the Yankees are the worse team at the greed, but it’s not them threatening to take baseball away from the fans like the Boston Red Sox and Terry Francona was doing in the spring of 2008.

Georgia .vs. Arkansas

The bulldogs from Athens, Georgia is getting ready to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks for the winner of the SEC basketball conference. This should be a good game and I can’t wait for the tip off that is about 30 minutes away. Even the storms in Atlanta can’t stop this match up today from happening. The skies are crystal clear and very blue over the Atlanta city skyline.

It will be important for Georgia to continue what they have been doing and that’s the tough and scrappy defense that has got them here. They get into foul trouble playing this way, but it’s prove to be effective to this point. Hopefully our players from Georgia will make it to halftime with 2 fouls or less for our top 7 or 8 players on the team. The whole team has been working the magic in this SEC tourney run and I hope that continues today in the Championship Game.

It was tough on our boys to have played back to back games and now have to turn around play a 3rd game in 2 days. They are young, strong and determined and as far as I am concerned, they are already champions in my book. Let’s hope the basketball gods are kind to them one more time and let them get out of the SEC with a championship that they deserve so much. Go Dawgs!!!

High Speed Travel on the World Wide Web

It’s not been too long from the days of the dial up services and I think most now have some type of high speed connection online. I use to just be happy being online, but you soon learn that speed is everything on the internet. You can really waste a lot of time if you have to constantly wait for pages to be loaded. I’m glad I made the upgrade to a high speed connection and if you still have a dial up service, you really should make the jump to high speed internet.

There is just so much information that can travel through those existing phone lines and you really need some type of CAT5e product that can push much more information through in a shorter amount of time. The router and the cables that come with a high speed connection allow you to exchange much more information online; than you ever could with a standard phone line. The Ethernet cable is larger than the phone line running from your phone to the wall jack. So when the World Wide Web comes knocking at your door and wants to send that information through the line, bigger is better!  If you have considered a high speed connection in the past, but haven’t made the jump yet, go ahead and make arrangements today to move up to a higher speed service, I promise you will never regret it!

Twin Nephews Growing Up

My twin nephews turned 3 in December and I believe they have learned a lot during those 3 years. They can sing songs, say the alphabet, know some of the state capitals and they know what they like to watch on television. They are both much smarter than I was when I was 3 years old. They don’t even like their kiddie toys anymore and want the stuff they know they are not suppose to have. I guess even as adults we keep that little trait going; wanting things we can’t have. I think they will make an easy transition to when school starts for them, since they have learned to play with each other and will have each other at school. I know they won’t be this size forever, so I try to enjoy them now and I just wonder how much of this they will remember when they get older.

SEC and College Basketball Must Learn Lessons

College Basketball is very exciting right now with all the conferences having their tournaments this week. Some champions have already been crowned, while others will be crowned on Sunday. Soon after the crownings, the selection process will begin to find the best 64 or 65 teams in the country. It’s a great time of the year and college basketball is very special.

However, they try to pack all this excitement too close together and when you have a tornado that disrupted the SEC tourney; you’re then faced with teams like the Kentucky Wildcats and Georgia Bulldogs having to play two games in one day. Kentucky lost their game to Georgia, so they had to only play one, but Georgia was forced back on the court 5 hours later to take on another very good team in the tournament. The Georgia Bulldogs shocked the nation by sending Kentucky home early in the tournament and it became even a bigger shock when they won their 2nd game of the day over the Bulldogs from Mississippi. Georgia now finds their self in the championship game, where they will once again be facing another very good team in the Arkansas Razorbacks.

College basketball needs to fix this and do it next year! Our weather is changing and emergencies will occur and this needs to be spaced out better. I’m sure if the USC Trojans were faced with this issue the whole landscape would have changed for them. Nobody respects the SEC and teams from the South in general, so it’s no big surprise they would just make Kentucky and Georgia play 2 games in one day. You can bet your last dollar the same would have not been the case if the USC Trojans had to face this terrible dilemia.

College Basketball had no compassion for the tornados in Atlanta and even chose to take the tournament a few minutes away to the Georgia Tech Thriller Dome; where they let over 9,000 seats go unfilled thinking this was the best way to handle the situation. College basketball failed and I hope Atlanta never invites another SEC event back into our state. College Football is already a mess with no playoffs and yet they crown a champion based on the rich guys and the schools they attended.

A History on Jewelry

Students of the natural sciences are in agreement when they say that of all the creatures in the animal kingdom, only humans seek to adorn themselves. Even as far in the past as primitive man, designer jewelry took on this role in a variety of forms.. Small objects were of primary importance, with some examples being found in the early Neolithic strata of the caverns in mas d’avil. It was here that many pierces stags’ teeth were discovered, often still in the shape of a necklace with its holding twine long since disintegrated. (Jewelry objects have now been found in pre-historic Africa that date back about 75,000 years.)

Closely related to the human need for ornamentation was the use of jewelry as amulets endowed with magical powers. For a true understanding of the growth and history of the importance of jewelry and precious stones, one has to be aware of the indelible belief that precious stones could affect the fortunes of the wearer.

I believe it does affect the person wearing it and if it’s not with any luck or fortunes, it still makes a nice little chunk of change at the pawn shops!

High School Athletes

Have you been to a high school sporting event lately? It seems the guys in high school are getting so big these days. You can always find one or two people at a high school that has a very adult appearance, but now you see a lot of the athletes on the field and court having those adult like features. I’m not sure if our health and nutrition is better these days or if it’s due to bodybuilding supplements. My local high school football team has at least a dozen guys on the team, I believe I could take to any sports bar or club and could get them past the guy checking ID’s at the door. It’s not just their looks either, but the amount of weight they are lifting and the speed they are running at is amazing. The future of sports is going to be very bright in another decade or so, when these new-look athletes from high school start to sign all those professional sports contracts!

Tornados Bomb Atlanta and the State of Georgia

What started out as a typical Friday day in the Peach State would all go horribly wrong before the day was over. Beautiful weather, warm temperatures and Atlanta hosting the SEC college basketball tournament was just a few of the highlights going on in Georgia on March 14th. A typical basketball game being played in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta would come to a crashing halt as the city of Atlanta was being hit with the first tornado ever! It was the first direct hit from a F2 tornado and it caused damage at the Georgia Dome and many of the surrounding landmarks in the heart of Atlanta.

There was one person that said the tornado in Atlanta on Friday Night reminded him of the Olympic Bombing during the 1996 Olympics. It had that same impact and panic in the streets of Atlanta. My home is located 40 miles north of the Atlanta area and I’m not even sure the powerful F2 tornado made one limb move in my area. It was unbelievable at all the destruction that was taking place in Atlanta, while just a few miles up the road nothing was happening.

The amazing part of it all is that nobody lost their life in this powerful twister that stayed on the ground for over 6 miles in the heart of Atlanta. When I say the “heart of Atlanta”, I mean that in every sense and if you had to pick the middle of Atlanta, you would choose the area around Phillips Arena, the CNN Building and Georgia Dome. Mother Nature took a precise hit on Georgia that only a military general could appreciate; that might be trying to land a guided missile to a target.

The residents in our state didn’t have time to lend a hand or feel sympathy for the city of Atlanta, because as soon as the Mayor of Atlanta Shirley Franklin was declaring the city of Atlanta in a state of emergency, the rest of Georgia would take it’s blows on Saturday. Storm after storm came blowing through our state, all of them were moving very fast, but leaving damage behind all the way. The main topic on Saturday March 15th was hail. We had pea size hail, grape size hail, golf ball size hail and even some had baseball size hail falling from the skies. Mother Nature didn’t stop with her attack on Atlanta, but she then sent out the other weapons in her arsenal and began to carpet bomb the state of Georgia with frozen pieces of ice. Georgia has truly been in a war zone over the last two days and it’s finally good to see that the attacks have stopped for now. Lives were lost on Saturday, homes destroyed and the people’s way of living has taken a whole new perspective in the 24 hours of destruction that took place on a March Weekend in the Peach State.

Cufflinks by Theme

In today’s fashion world every little piece of spark or glitter you can add to your wardrobe is what can set you apart from the others. If you have one of those dinner parties you get all dressed up for and you’re trying to look your best from head to toe; you should consider Tateossian Jewelry. This is designer jewelry that can put that final touch on a man’s wardrobe. The cufflinks that you can add to your designer suits can have a theme or perhaps you would prefer a little crystal in your cufflinks. These are Modern Cufflinks and with the ever changing world of fashion, it’s good to know the cufflinks with themes is keeping pace. Some of these cufflinks are really very nice pieces of jewelry and if you browse through some of them, you will see what I mean. These cufflinks are certainly not the same kind your father or his father wore back in their day.

Atlanta Braves Fans Seek Star Baseball Player

The Braves are off and running again down in Florida. A lot of the same faces and a few of the new faces will be making up the Atlanta Braves this year. I think one member of the team will shine brighter than anybody else and that player is Yunel Escobar. He is going to be making a lot of noise in the National League and baseball this year, as he will be putting up stats as any shortstop in the game. It’s not often when you see a shortstop that comes along with the gifted bat as Yunel Escobar. It’s not clear right now why they are batting him 2nd in the lineup, when he would be much more effective in the 3rd hole. Chipper Jones isn’t going to play every game anyways and the Braves don’t have a solid back up for Chipper, so Yunel Escobar should still get his opportunity to bat in the 3rd hole.

Chipper Jones is not going to last long, because he doens’t stretch properly during games and doesn’t hustle. This combination allows his muscles to constrict and when he does try to make a quick play, he just ends up pulling a muscle. Yunel Escobar will be the leader on this team with Mark Texiera right behind him. So the Braves will try to improve on their 3rd place finish in the division and if they are able to land a big time player before the season starts, we should see the Atlanta Braves move up this year.

NFR in Las Vegas

Every year the NFR or National Finals Rodeo takes place in early December in Las Vegas, Nevada. Vegas has been hosting this event since they out bided Oklahoma for the prized event, that still came down to a close vote. Money talks and everyone knows there is lots of money in Sin City and now every year cowboys all across America dream about being in the NFR.

All the rodeo events I have attended, I have always enjoyed them. I never went home regretting the time I spent at a rodeo. Now our local rodeos here are probably quite different from the biggest rodeo show of them all; when people go to attend the National Rodeo Finals. We have a few local sponsors that do our rodeos, where the event in Vegas attracts all the big automobile companies, farming equipment and supply companies and of coarse Wrangler is the main sponsor for the NFR event. I’m sure it would be tougher to get Wrangler National Finals Rodeo tickets than the good seats I get from my local hardware store, which gives them away for free with a $20 purchase. Our tickets are just general admission and once you get inside, you just sit where you want. It can be fun to be near where they are releasing the bulls, because the loud sounds and struggles that go on at that end are fun to watch. There is a lot of action that some might not see, if they are not close enough to see the cowboy actually getting placed on the angry bull. Normally the bull doesn’t use much of the arena and sitting at the 10 yard line (where the bulls get released) is the place I prefer to sit.

I have never been to Las Vegas to gamble or see the National Rodeo Finals that has been going on there for over 20 years now. I might just have to plan a December trip to see the NFR and taking the time to pull on a few slot machines. Gamblers are not the only ones that dream about going to Vegas, but cowboys have the same dream too!

Idol’s Final 12

I see American Idol has a special two hour show on tonight with their final 12 contestants for this season. It’s really boring to watch if you ask me. Remember when MTV use to show videos? Remember when they use to sing on American Idol? Well these days you can’t watch music videos on MTV and you can’t see the amateur singers, singing on American Idol. I could care less about most of the stuff they show on American Idol and they spend 20 minutes of talk and letting the judges talk for every 2 minute singing performance you get to hear. It’s really not worth watching American Idol anymore and I can’t wait until someone gives the same product with more singing. When that occurs, there won’t be any more high paying advertisers looking for spots on American Idol anymore.

I really do like seeing the singers, but just way too much talk for my taste!

Fantasy Baseball Tips

It’s that time of the year and some have already started drafting their fantasy baseball teams. I love to play fantasy baseball and I have managed to win a few leagues I have been in over the years. When I started playing fantasy sports in the 80’s, we didn’t have the luxuries of the internet to get all the fantasy tips available now or have the ability to follow our players with real time stats, like you can do now. It’s changed a lot over the last 20 years, but fantasy sports are still fun to play.

Now getting your baseball team ready to compete in your fantasy league is easy to do with fantasy baseball software. This software can allow you to see player rankings based on Predictive Modeling by PhD scientists, draft data tool assistance for draft day, full season roster management with updated mid-season projections, and all those injury and stats reports for the latest news in fantasy baseball. Software like this can help any fantasy baseball owner to win their league this year!

Some people actually make money from wining their fantasy baseball leagues. If this sounds like you and you would like to try and win money from the various fantasy baseball leagues that pay cash prizes, you will really want to get the software from Fantasy Sports Prophet. If you decide you want to try their fantasy baseball software out; please be sure to use promo code: BMC200 and this will save you $10! Now you won’t only win your league each year, but you will dominate! Good luck to all the fantasy baseball owners out there and now it’s time to PLAY BALL!
