Atlanta Falcons Land 4th Best Back in the League

While some speculation has came out recently about the Falcons passing on a quarterback and taking the sensational talent out of Arkansas Darren McFadden; it appears the Falcons extinguished all of those rumors and landed one of the top 5 running backs in the league. His name is Michael Turner and if you haven’t heard about him or heard much, there is good a good reason why. He was unfortunately playing on the team that has the top graded back in the league in Ladanian Tomlinson. So any running back is going to have a hard time getting carries if he has lightning bolts on his helmet. The only two running backs grading higher than Michael Turner is Adrian Peterson of the Vikings and the questionable Ricky Williams from South Florida. Ricky is also projected as a back up with the Dolphins, as Ronnie Brown will get the majority of carries right out of the gate, but the experts are banking that Ricky Williams has the best 2nd half of the season as anybody in the NFL for the 2008 year.

It’s been a long time since the Atlanta Falcons have enjoyed a top-notch-back. You can count a couple of Jamal Anderson and Gearld Riggs seasons in there, but even these two don’t compare to Michael Turner. He will be mentioned more in the company of William Andrews, who has been the greatest Atlanta Falcons running back ever.

Remembering William Andrews

Now if that brings back memories, just wait until you see him on Sundays in the dirty south. Going to high school in Illinois, then to North Illinois as his college choice and being the diamond in the rough for the San Diego Chargers as they landed him in the 5th round, there has only been one way to describe Mr. Turner. No matter where he goes everyone has said the same thing; that the 5′ 10″ running back is like trying to tackle a bowling ball. He will certainly have his chance now with the Atlanta Falcons not having a quarterback ready to play and having no wide receivers, means the 2008 season is riding on Turner’s shoulders and don’t be surprised if he delivers! If he stays healthy, he could very well be right there with Ricky Williams as the top two backs in the league going down the home stretch of the 2008 season.

The Time Change; Summer is Near

It is now getting darker later on us with the time change over the weekend. It was that time of the year to spring forward and most people moved their clocks ahead 1 hour. This is also the time we are suppose to be checking our fire alarms and replacing the batteries in them. This is our first sign that the warmer days are just around the corner. Soon the kids will be getting out of school for their spring break vacations. It won’t be much longer until they are out for the summer. So you won’t have the school taking them off your hands anymore and will have to start spending those warm days watching them play on the swing sets and running around in the yard.

I’m not sure if I will plant a garden this year or not. I love eating fresh tomatoes and green beans from the garden. We just have a lack of water in our area right now and I’m afraid that it will continue this summer. I don’t want to invest time or money into a garden that might not ever produce due to the lack of rainfall. If I do plant one, it would probably be just a few tomatoe plants and maybe small enough I can water them with our grey water from inside the house. I just hope everyone remembered to set their clocks and didn’t show up late for work this morning.

Alyssa Milano’s New Movie on Lifetime

wisegalbanner728×90mw0.jpg

Alyssa Milano has appeared on many different channels and in movies on the big screen and now you can catch her on Liftetime this Saturday (March 15th). Alyssa will be appearing in a new movie that is a true story. The movie is called Wisegal and it’s the true story of how a young woman was struggling to provide for her kids and she is forced to do anything she can to help them. So she makes a deal with the mob to start bringing in cash to her home and you will get to see all the things she has to go through during this experience.

Wisegal Trailer from Lifetime starring Alyssa Milano

This looks like it will be a good movie! I like the ones about true stories and I’m sure this movie is going to deliver. The executive producer is Joe Pistone and he is a real life FBI Agent who help to infiltrate the mob. Joe Pistone’s life story is told in the 1997 movie that was called Donnie Brasco. This movie featured Al Pacino and Johnny Depp. So it should offer a true look inside the events of this Lifetime Movie that is based on a true story.

Alyssa Milano will play Patty Montanari  who gets involved with a captain from the mob. His name is Frank Russo and he is tied to a Brooklyn Crime Family and he’s the one that persuades Patty to start making runs for the mob. Soon Alyssa’s character Patty will find out that Frank Russo had killed his own son and wonders just how safe her and her family might be.

I think all the right people are in place to make this a really good movie. This is a long ways from the Italian role that Alyssa played with Tony Danza in Who’s the Boss. Alyssa’s biggest worries then was looking after her father and trying to handle Angela’s son Johnathan. The Bowers are a long ways from being compared to the Sopranos and in Alyssa’s new Lifetime movie Wisegal; she will be in a world much closer to Tony Soprano than Tony Micelli in Who’s the Boss.

If you get a chance on Saturday, March 15th at 9PM Eastern Time, try to check out the new movie Wisegal that will be shown on Lifetime. Please be sure to come back here and let me know your thoughts on the movie and what you liked or didn’t like about the movie.

Saving Energy in the Home

My family doesn’t go to extremes trying to save energy in our home, but we did make a move in the right direction a few weeks back. My parents got a light in the kitchen and bathroom that is basically like a night light. They plug into the sockets in the wall and only generate a small amount of light. So we don’t have to turn on the main lights in these rooms; when we might need to find something. Our bathroom lights have 3 lights bulbs attached to them and just turning on the main lights in the bathroom, we use a lot of energy. These new night lights we have now, still allow you to go in there and see for the most part what you’re doing. Our kitchen lights have 2 bulbs, but I think they are full size bulbs and if we just use the new lights we have now, we can save even more energy in our kitchen. Saving energy like this is good for the environment and cheaper on our monthly utility bills too. So anything you can do to cut down on the usage of power in your home, is a win win situation!
