I know the feeling very well that all of us fisermen go through about this time. The air temperature is just now starting to feel a little warmer outside and it makes us want to get out and wet a hook. The water temperatures are still pretty cold and it takes them a little longer to warm up; than the air temperature does. The fish are still out there and they are swimming around some, but they don’t move too much when the water is too cold or too hot. One thing that I like doing during the winter, is going along side all the rivers and lakes in my area and looking for fishing lures. A little bit of rust or wear on a fishing hook isn’t that bad. You can sharpen them up just a bit and they will be ready to land that next big catch for you. I have found a lot of good fishing lures over the years looking for them in the winter time. Some of these lures will be 5 and 10 dollar lures; that I normally wouldn’t buy for my self. You may find some other interesting things when you get out and troll up and down the banks of the water places around your community. We have had extreme drought conditions here in North Georgia and things that are normally under water, are just now sitting on top of the dry Georgia red clay. You might be lucky enough to find money, wallets, jewelry and other little valuables like that; while your out searching for all those fishing lures that the fishermen have lost. It’s also a good idea to keep your eyes open when you regularly go fishing too, because you will be surprised at some of the things that people just leave behind or lose. So until the weather gets a few degrees warmer and before you make your annual trip to the bait and tackle store; be sure to walk around the lake and rivers to see if you can save money on fishing supplies this year.

I’m not sure who is awake in Atlanta anymore. As I watched the Atlanta Hawks play last year, it was like watching television in a bad thunderstorm. Sometimes the picture would come in clear and I could see what the Hawks were doing wrong. Other times the picture would get all fuzzy and I wasn’t sure what the problem was in Atlanta and what the best route might be for them to have help.

Now comes the 2007/2008 season for the Atlanta Hawks and my picture has been crisp all year long. It’s like I have been watching them in high definition and I see everything crystal clear. The only problem with the Atlanta Hawks right now, is that they continue to give the keys to Mr. Joe Johnson and  he isn’t going to be driving no team in the NBA to the playoffs this year or any time in the near future. The Joe Johnson experiment in Atlanta is over and it’s been like that for some time now. It doesn’t appear the coaching staff, the GM or the owners have the same high definition picture as me.

Joe Johnson for two number 1 draft picks and Boris Diaw was a bad trade. The situation with the owners group splitting up was a bad situation and their disagreements with the Joe Johnson trade. So you made a bad trade; what’s the big deal? It’s time to move on and the players and fans in Atlanta can still have playoff basketball this year, but only when they admit the trade for Joe Johnson was a mistake and cut their losses. Joe Johnson doesn’t deserve to be on the court for 40+ minutes a game. He gives you some great long range scoring and has become a little bit better driving the ball to the hoop and scoring. That’s it! Nothing more and when your “star” only shows up for 1 out of every 8 ball games, that isn’t going to be enough to get you into the post season. Joe Johnson is tied with Marvin Williams as the 8th best player on the team. Joe Johnson is the 3rd best shooting guard on the team. Joe shoots technical free throws when he’s not even the best free throw shooter on the team, does any of this make sense? I guess it does if your trying to save face from recently departed owners and the admission you made a bad trade. The Atlanta Hawks play Joe Johnson for 40 plus minutes a game and he doesn’t rank no where near the top in any stat category (other than minutes played).

If you would like to see more teams like the San Antonio Spurs that only scored 5 points in the first quarter against the Hawks; then find someone else to start in his place. Joe takes breaks out on the court, uses his fouls to grab players so he doesn’t have to run as much, the ball comes to a halt everytime they pass it to him on offense and he doesn’t have the hustle on defense needed to keep opposing NBA teams from getting open looks at the basket.

Joe Johnson has never been a star. He never will be a star. Joe Johnson can be a valuable role player, but nothing more than that. I can’t believe no one in Atlanta has woke up and smelled the Joe Johnson coffee that is very weak. No playoffs for the Atlanta Hawks with Joe Johnson playing 40 minutes a game, nuff said!

Searching for extra cash can be hard and sometimes it can just be stressful. Fresh fish is my main choice at any seafood restaurant. I love amberjack, halibit, tialapi and mahi mahi the best. They are several others that I like too, but usually when I see one of those 4 on the menu, I will order them. Mahi mahi comes from dolphin fish and it’s not the same dolphin like Flipper. The dolphin fish is a great seafood item to put on the menu and is one of the best tasting fish from the oceans. If sharks eat the dolphin fish in their daily diets; then I am highly jealous of them. Once you have a nice piece of fresh fish, you can just throw me a little bread and some french fries with it and I am happy. I do prefer to get a seafood combo platter where I can add in shrimp for a few bucks more. Grilled shrimp is really good and I like shrimp scampi too; which is basically the same thing. Popcorn shrimp that is fried is also an excellent choice to go with a nice piece of fish. If you’re the owner of a seafood restaurant and have fresh fish and shrimp on the menu, please offer a combination of the two for a good price! If there is any seafood restaurants in my state of Georgia, please invite me out for a nice seafood meal and I would be happy to blog about my experience in your establishment. Maybe I could attract other customers from the state of Georgia and you could be receiving new customers; while I would get a good seafood meal out of the experience.
