I know many of us comb Wall Street everyday and try to find the best investments that will make us the most money. Sometimes just not having to spend money is a way to make money. I know that might sound strange, but the older you get, the more wise you become to just how valuable it is to not spend money. That is where insurance can come in and insurance these days can cover so many costs of our daily lives.

It’s nice knowing that a car accident that might total our cars or a severe storm from Mother Nature that causes our homes to be damaged; can all be replaced just by having insurance. We all complain about paying for monthly payments each month, but when we need our insurance to cover the cost of life’s unexpected dangers, we are glad we have it then.

It’s good to see that people now can buy flood insurance and other types like Commercial Insurance for the things we want to protect or keep intact. You might not think of insurance as an investment, but it really is an investment into our futures. We can rest easier at night knowing that we have certain types of insurance to cover us in times of emergencies. Just remember that the next time you’re complaining about having to pay that monthly payment or when you just found out that your insurance went up a little bit. I hope nobody ever needs their insurance, but it’s good to know it’s there if we do need it.

It wasn’t a typical day for students on Monday morning when they were headed to Dean Rusk Middle School and Sequoyah High School in Cherokee County. Their bus driver ran slightly off one side of the road and then over-corrected the huge bus and sent it out of control across two lanes; where it eventually hit a power pole and flipped the bus on it’s side. I live on the Hickory Flat Highway Road or 140 as we call it; in Cherokee County, so this accident wasn’t too far from my house. I was up at the time of the crash and heard several sirens going off that morning. They were going up and down the road I live on and it doesn’t make a lot of sense, considering where the bus crash took place at. I even heard the helicopter that took one student to a hospital in Atlanta.

This story was the top story on all the local news channels here in Atlanta. Some students were taken to the North Fulton hospital in Fulton, County; while others were transported to the local emergency room in Cherokee County at the old R.T. Jones Hospital (now known as Northside). I have been in that emergency room before and I believe they said 16 kids were transported there and I could only imagine all the kaos that was happening there that morning.

Other than the one student that was taken out by helicopter, most of them came out of it in good shape. When you consider just how big a school bus is and for it to crash in that manner, it’s a wonder more students weren’t injured seriously. If you were a student on that bus that awful Monday morning and your reading this post right now, be sure to leave a reply and tell me your side of the story. I would love to know more of what happened from the people that actually went through the experience. If the busdriver is reading this post now, please share your story with me too. I realize you’re facing legal charges right now, but just a brief description from your point of view would be very helpful!

I know the news reporters were saying some of the kids on board were not looking to get back on a school bus anytime soon. I never did see those comments from the kids their self and I was just wondering how serious they was about that. I actually think you’re much safer in a school bus than you would be in a car. Easy for me to say, eh? I know my feelings might be different if I was on that bus and perhaps a crash like that does make you fearful of buses now. I would much rather be in a bus that wrecks than to be in a wreck that a bus causes. Hopefully the students and parents will all get to know the details of what exactly happened on that beautiful March morning in Hickory Flat. It does appear to just be a driver error and we all make mistakes. I would hate to see a former FBI employee that was driving kids to school in his sixties have to serve any jail time.

I think you kids need to get with the Hickory Flat Community and try to get a free meal at Kaysons! They do have pretty good food at the Kaysons in Hickory Flat and would be nice for a local business like that to invite all the kids from the bus crash on 140 in for a free meal on them!

All furniture is not big and only made for adults. Pain is one thing I don’t think any of us like. The more we can go through life without any is the better! I have suffered through a few kidney stones in my life and they are the worse pains I have ever had. I guess some others might be able to relate in their own everyday pains they might have. I’m sure the pains from PMS or fibromyalgia are no fun either. If you are someone that suffers from chronic pains and it affects your day to day activities, please be sure to see your doctor. The doctors have a lot of powers and helpful advice for pain management and no one should have to go through life with the pains and aches some of us can have sometimes. So stop hurting and find the relief for your pains; no matter what they might be.

After 17 years of being a quarterback in the National Football League, Brett Favre is hanging it up. Just when everyone thought he was done a few years back, he came back last season to have one of his best seasons ever. They just barely got beat by the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants in the NFC Championship Game. The Green Bay Packers have some of the best fans in football and most of them got to witness one of the best quarterbacks ever.

It wasn’t always easy for Brett Favre. When the Atlanta Falcons drafted him all those years ago and then traded him away to the frozen tundra, he didn’t start right away for the Green Bay Packers. When he did finally get his start, he didn’t miss a game. He was there each Sunday to lead his team win or lose. Brett Favre did have a problem with painkillers. Apprarently Favre’s drug of choice was vicodin and he asked for help publicly and apologized to everyone for his addiction to the pain killer vicodin.

I think many will always remember the passing of Brett’s father and how Brett Favre went out on Monday Night Football and performed one of his best games ever. That was truly an emotional night with Favre having to play that game with his dad just passing earlier.  Many players, fans and coaches will miss Brett Favre as he’s finally decided to hang it all up after 17 years. I wonder if his buddy Warren Sapp will soon follow in Brett’s footsteps.
