I think a good southern meal has to include some chicken. I know most like the breast, legs, wings or thighs from the chicken, but I like the other parts too. The NCAA Basketball Tournament is going to have a great final 4 this year. All four of the number 1 seeds made it to the final four this year. So who are the top 4 teams left? We have North Carolina, Kansas, Memphis and UCLA will be the final 4 teams that will be battling it out for the top team in college basketball this year. The first game on April 5th will be Memphis .vs. UCLA and this should be a good game. I am going to give Memphis the slight edge here and pick them to advance in the final 4 bracket in San Antonio. The other final 4 in San Antonio game will be North Carolina facing the team from Kansas. I think North Carolina has the best team in the final 4 in Texas and I will give North Carolina a double digit win. So my prediction for the championship game that will be played on Monday will have the North Carolina Tar Heels going up against the underdogs from Memphis. The Memphis Tigers will be one hard team for the Tar Heels to beat, but this should really be a great championship game Monday Night in San Antonio, Texas.

Alex Explains Her Boredom

So what do you do when you’re bored?

It was just yesterday when the YouTube Sensation had her 16th Birthday and now 1 day later Alex finds her self bored. I usually get on the computer or try to find a movie on television to watch when I’m bored. I guess Alex did the same thing and came to YouTube to download her latest video. You can find more of Alex’s videos at Single Source Writing. There you can relive all of Alex’s videos as a fifteen year old girl growing up in Mexico. Alex has a lot of musical talents and those are displayed at my other blog; where you can see Alex playing the guitar and singing a variety of different songs. It’s been fun documenting her early music career through her You Tube Videos and I believe she will have many more years ahead of her. It should be interesting to see where this YouTube Sensation lands or just how much You Tube will help her to be successful with her dreams to work in the music industry some day.

I guess even a star in the making can get bored and it’s not always a super fun ride to the top. I don’t see Alex having too many more of these boring days as she waits for her big chance to impress someone in the musical field. Alex can play instruments, sing and even has a desire for composing music too. So all of her options are still in front of her and she has many roads to choose on which one she thinks will make her most happy. I think it’s just a matter of time until the right person sees the YouTube Star and all of her talents and Alex won’t be a star in the making then; she will be a star!

Well I just got my taxes done today and see if I qualified for the $600 stimulus package rebate checks and I did! I will be getting the 600 dollars but the bad news is that I have to pay in about 590 dollars. So once I pay in for my taxes this year and then get my stimulus check, I will be making 10 dollars! So I’m not super excited about this year’s rebate checks, but at least they will cover the tax money that I owe back to the government this year.

I’m sure many will have fun with their extra 600 bucks they will be getting. I bet many people already know what they will be doing with that extra money they will be getting in May. I guess my plans will have to revolve around 10 dollars and that is all the planning I will be able to do with my stimulus package rebate check. What is your plans for the money? Did you get the whole 600 dollars? Everyone that files taxes this year and made at least 3,000 dollars last year will get 300 dollars. If you made more than 6 thousand dollars you will be getting back the full amount of 600 dollars! Those that are married and will be filing their taxes out as one will get back 600 and 1,200 dollars if made over the minimums in 2007.

I got taxed 15% for being a self-employed worker, so that’s the reason I have to pay taxes in this year. I guess for 2009 I will have to come up with the entire amount and I doubt I will have a rebate check to fall back on then. So I will have to start putting money away now, so I will be able to afford my taxes next year.

I love living 40 miles north of Atlanta in Canton, Georgia. There is a lot beautiful land in North Georgia and many homes for sale at the moment. Builders are trying to find new owners for these homes and you can really find a good deal if you’re looking for a home in North Georgia.

These homes are priced right for the taking right now and this might be the best time to find your self a new home for the next several years. I really would like to start adding a little red wine to my diet, so I could take advantage of all the good things it has for our bodies. I’m sure eating grapes would be another good way to take advantage of some of these nutritional and health benefits that wine have.

I have come to number 9 on the countdown this week. This is a band that has a continent’s name and is known world-wide. The song has a simple 1 word title, but it’s probably one of the first songs you think of when you hear this group’s name.

That is a good song!

Europe’s Carrie makes the 9th best song on my countdown of the top 10 rock ballads of all time. This is a nice song to hear and I think most people that is my age remember this song. It was released in 1986 and you can still hear this song being played on the radio 22 years later. A song that can stand the test of time makes it quality material for any countdown. The song Carrie was on the album The Final Countdown and it was a huge hit for the band Europe that is from Sweden.

So now we have 20% of the top ten countdown in place with Cinderella’s Don’t Know What You Got coming in at number 10 and Carrie by Europe is number 9 on the best rock ballads of all time. The DOW is already down more than 90 points on this early trading day and the economy is still declining. I don’t think we have bottomed out, but you would have to figure that we are close. Things could still drop over the next few weeks, but sometime this summer we should see a sharp upswing in the market. I think opportunities do exist across the board and you can find value in all areas of the market. The big drug companies and your financial stocks could be the first ones to break out of this dropping market.

You don’t want to invest any large sums of money until we do see something more positive from Wall Street. I do think small investments each month is a good time now, so you can position your self for the up swing that will occur later this summer. We might have a sluggish summer too, but stocks should rebound slightly and profits will be there for those investing now. It might be in the range of 6 to 9 percent, but investors should be rewarded slightly for their commitments now.

I know the big oil companies look attractive, but the whole energy market still scares me. I think financial stocks are going to be the first stocks out of the gate this summer, but the big drug companies and retail stocks should so signs of life this summer too. If you do plan to roll the dice in the energy sector of the market, keep it under 15% of your total portfolio. Let’s ride the blue chip stocks with 1/4 of our portfolio and maybe even double your blue chip investments over any energy stocks you might own. Those are the top 31 players that the NFL GM’s should be taking in this year’s draft. I’m sure some will slip into the 2nd round of the draft and will be some nice finds for teams picking these players in the 2nd round. The 2008 NFL Draft has average talent this year and I don’t really see any can’t miss prospects. Matt Ryan should have a descent NFL career and he’s ready to step in now and take over half of the jobs in the NFL. I’m sure whoever drafts him will work him in slowly and not realize that Matt Ryan is already ahead of the QB they have in place now. Darren McFadden showed his ability to take over games and I assume he will continue this into the NFL too. The Dallas Cowboy fans will really find a couple of quality players they will be able to stick into their team for next year and Dallas isn’t too far away from another Super Bowl appearance from their legendary status as America’s Team.

Don’t expect my draft to play out like it should, because the combines have more importance than what these young men actually did in games last year. I could draft better than half of the current GM’s that hold jobs in the National Football League. It’s sad, because I give out the best free advice possible and they get paid big bucks to give out bad advice.

Don’t let the Kipper fool ya; these are the 31 best players for this year’s draft. Yes, I did include Michael Vick as the Patriots pick, because I have a solid source of information coming in, that Vick will be a Patriot soon! He is going to be the replacement of the future for the best player in the NFL in Randy Moss.

If you like seeing your face or name mentioned on television, don’t feel alone. The GM’s love to hear all the media talk they can on their teams and that is why Chris Long will be a hot commodity on draft day. I’m sure Terry, Howie and Jimmy will keep close eyes on the son of Howie Long and the team that lands him will get that extra coverage from the FOX guys on Sundays.
