I think the cold days of winter aren’t just for the bears to sleep through. We might not hibernate like the bears do, but I think humans can enjoy sleeping in the winter time just as much as the bears do. I love it when it’s really cold outside and you can snuggle up under a bunch of blankets and seek warmth in the middle of winter. Our beds can be a welcome sight for anyone that has had to fight the cold and harsh conditions outside all day. It makes coming home to a warm bed or any adjustable beds that you might have a pleasure. We don’t take those warm beds for granted, when we had to battle Old Man Winter all day. It’s also nice if you have an electric blanket you can turn on first and have the bed really warm before you crawl into it. It might only be for 8 hours, but I think us humans hibernate too, when winter is in full swing, like it is now. Yes, winters were made for sleeping!

What is your favorite Christmas Sweets that you like to snack on for the holidays? I know a lot of people like to send fruit cakes as gifts for Christmas. I guess most people don’t like fruit cakes, because it seems those people always tried to send it to someone else for Christmas. I like the chocolate covered cherries around Christmas time. I think that would have to be my favorite holiday treat. Something as simple as a candy cane or sugar stick can be a tasty little treat too.

I also think you have to include all the yummy pies you can get around Thanksgiving or Christmas, as some of the best sweets to eat during the holidays. Pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and sweet potato pie are just some of the pies that won’t last long around my household. I know pies are loaded with calories and many people try to stay away from them during the Christmas season. Are there anymore great pies for the holidays that you can think of?

Is the egg nog considered a Christmas sweet? Or is this just a Christmas treat with it’s own food group? I’m not a fan of egg nog and I guess it gets talked about a lot, because so many people use alcohol in their recipe. I think brandy and rum are some of the more popular things to add to your egg nog. I don’t have any good recipes to pass along, but I’m sure you can do a search on Google, MSN or Yahoo and find dozens of ways to make egg nog.

White chocolate is something popular around Christmas and you can decorate your goodies in this for a festive look. I prefer the brown or dark chocolates myself, but sometimes white chocolate can be a break from the norm. I guess white chocolate is popular around Christmas, because you can create a snow-scene or something relating to snow with the white color. If you have any great Christmas recipes for sweets, then be sure to leave me a reply with them. I’m always looking to try something new and if it’s not too hard to prepare, I might just give it a try. I would love a good peanut butter balls covered in chocolate recipe. A cyst on your wrist is not that big of a deal in most cases. Sometimes when the wrists or hands are exerted over a long period of time, you can develop a cyst on them. The most common one that people will get is a ganglion cyst. This can form as a lump or knot on your wrist and usually doesn’t cause that much trouble. People will usually develop these cysts and can have them for years without any major troubles. The biggest thing with a cyst or a ganglion cyst is that they are an eye-soar.

If you have a cyst on your wrist and it’s been there for years and now is causing you problems, you might have to look for ways to treat it. The best advice is to go to your doctor and make sure it is a ganglion cyst. 98 percent of the time your lump or knot on your wrist will be from a ganglion cyst. It can be a cancerous tumor that has formed, but this is really rare. So don’t get worried if you have a lump that has been on your wrist for years or has just formed. In all likelihood, it’s just a ganglion cyst.

Once you have been diagnosed with a ganglion cyst on your wrist or hand, they are a few ways to deal with the problem. The easiest step is to have your wrist put in a splint, so this will limit movement and the knot/lump will go away. You will probably have to have your wrist immobile for about 2 weeks for this procedure to work. The next choice you have is to have a needle poked into the cyst and try to drain the fluids out of the cyst. This can bring you instant relief, but 50 percent of the time, the cyst will come back. If you have had your cyst for many years, then the “honey-like” fluids might have harden too much and a needle can’t extract the fluids out. If this is the case, then surgery is the final option. Surgery pretty much guarantees that your cyst will not come back, because the doctor will remove the whole sac that was holding in the fluids and it’s rare that a cyst will form again on the wrist that has had surgery done to it.

Are these my only choices? Well there is one more thing you can do and I’m not sure a lot of doctors would recommend this step. However, many years ago a lot of families were poor and some procedures were taken care of at home and not at the doctor’s office. Most people would have a bible at home and it was recommended that you take your bible and just whack the cyst with the holy book. This would bust the sac that contains the fluid in your cyst and after about 5 minutes of pain, the situation would have been taken care of. So taking a bible or a book and just smashing the cyst was something that a lot of people did. The success rate on busting cysts with a book are pretty good, but be aware that some problems can arise from this and its not 100 percent recommended by the doctors of today.

Your cyst is from fluids that are used in the wrist. These fluids will build up in a sac and that is what causes your knot/lump to form on your wrist or hand. So if someone can take enough pressure with something like a book, then you can just bust the sac and it’s much like popping a pimple on your face. The downside to this procedure is that the fluids have become too hard over time and you can crack a bone or even break it, when the sac is forced into the wrist bone. Since the book of choice is the bible, the ganglion cyst has often been referred to as Gideons Disease or Bible Bumps.

The cyst can go away on its own, but you might have to change your daily routines for this to happen. A splint can keep you from using your wrist and over a certain amount of time; the cyst could just go away on its own. You can have a lot of pain associated with a ganglion cyst and if this is the case with you; your best bet might just be to have a doctor look at it for you.
