Thanksgiving is two days away and I think my tummy already knows it’s close. I am already craving the traditional items that we eat every year at Thanksgiving. Please feel free and share what’s going to be on your table for Thanksgiving this year.

Turkey is the number 1 thing most people think about when they talk about their Thanksgiving meals. I would have to also say this is my favorite item on the Thanksgiving table. So you must have turkey and it has to be a little moist, and everything else really isn’t that important to me. So be sure you have the turkey on the table if you’re inviting me for a Thanksgiving dinner. Goble Goble!

Do you prefer ham instead of turkey? I know we always have both at my house, but I prefer the turkey over the ham. Many people would rather have ham than turkey, but its the tradition that keeps the turkeys on the table for those Thursdays in late November.

Now to add the fixins to the turkey or ham. I will go down the list and name what my family has just about every year on Thanksgiving.

That is pretty much all the things that will be on our table this Thanksgiving Day. We usually eat our dinners around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. I never eat breakfast on Thanksgiving, so when the 1 o’clock hour does roll around, I am really hungry! I will also be watching the Detroit Lions as I eat my dinner. I have been eating Thanksgiving dinners and watching Lions Football for as long as I can remember. So as long as the Detroit Lions continue to play on Thanksgiving Day, I will continue to root for them, while stuffing my face.

Only 3 more videos remain in the top 10 video countdown. I have been releasing the top 10 music videos ever and now we come to the 3rd spot in the countdown. This video really rocks and is one of the best videos I have ever seen. This is my 2nd favorite group with only the guys from Guns N’ Roses getting a slight nod over these guys.

Now imagine this, what if you were blind, deaf, had no arms and legs and you couldn’t even speak? You could just imagine how that might feel and just how lost you would be to the rest of the world. This video shows you how that person might feel.

3rd Best Video Ever

This is the song One by Metallica. Metallica’s One is one of the most popular songs they play when the band is on tour. It was the 4th track on the album And Justice For All. The song was written by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich in November of 1987. The song made it’s way on their 1989 album and has been a big hit every since.

All the fans of Metallica and the music world got to see the debut of this video on MTV. It was shown on January 20, 1989 and the video had raving reviews right from the start. There is parts of a book and movie that you see in the video and the name of that movie is Johnny Got His Gun, which was also the name of the book too. Metallica bought the rights of the movie, so they could use it in their video for the song One. 3 videos were made for One and the one above is the best version. The other versions were shorter and one of them didn’t even have any scenes of the movie in it.

The band didn’t have any of the bright colors and flash like a lot of the heavy metal bands did in the late 80’s. They chose to do this video mainly in black and white and the band was just at a warehouse performing. You can see two of the band members playing ESP Guitars. The bass player is seen early in the video plucking the strings with his fingers and near the end of the video the bass player has a pick. Not sure if that was an error in the video or just the way Metallica wanted to shoot the bass scenes. This was a typical Metallica video in the way it was shot and had that “Metallica feel” to it.

The video was ranked 38th on MTV’s Greatest Videos Ever and finished number 7 on the greatest guitar solos in a song by Guitar World’s Greatest Guitar Songs. I have to give this video much more respect than just a 38th spot and this is definitely one of the top 3 videos of all time!

Congratulations to James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Jason Newsted, and the drummer Lars Ulrich for making it to the 3rd spot in this video countdown! A song that was written 20 years ago is still going strong.

The catch phrase that made Gary Coleman famous as Arnold on Different Strokes is once again on the tube. In my local area there is a television station called Peachtree TV and it is showing the Different Strokes reruns. I have been watching them lately and I haven’t seen these shows since they was on in the 1980’s. It’s amazing to watch these episodes and see just how out-dated some of the lingo and talk is for today’s times. The show lost some of its luster as the actors and actresses got older, but when they were young it was magic back then. I even think Webster was a spin-off of Different Strokes and how you had a black kid with white parents. Webster was played by Emanuel Lewis and he makes his home in Georgia. I just wonder if Webster has found the time to tune in and see some of these episodes of Different Strokes.

I never seen it as a kid, but Conrad Bain the guy that played Phillip Drummond was really a boring dad. He really wasn’t that much fun as a father or even cool back then, but you still see Arnold and Willis look up to him like a real dad. I don’t think its very believeable for them to show him so much respect and he really isn’t even that hip of a daddy. I still like to watch these old episodes though and it takes me down memory lane again.

I always wondered when someone would take the golf world by storm and now I think I know. Golf has never really had someone that was really dominate before and I figured it was just a matter of time, until someone would tear up all the old records. I think Tiger Woods is that man and he’s on pace to set a lot of new records. He’s already took golf to a new level and he’s so strong, that he is unbeatable on the PGA Tour right now. He has brought so much to the golfing world and Nike golf too. I think Nike will cash in more with Tiger Woods than they did with Michael Air Jordan.

One thing that makes Tiger such a strong player is his ridiculous tee shots that he hits. He can send the ball down the fairway as far as any other golfer on the PGA tour. When you then factor in his iron game and just how competitive he is there; is when you can start making the case for one of the best golfers ever. His work on the greens is really 2nd to none and his whole game is just so complete. Many golfers can play as well as Tiger in one phase of his golf game. It’s when you combine all 3 phases together (tee shot, fairway with the irons, and putting on the greens) that make Tiger an invincible golfing machine. He’s going to be so tough to beat for the next decade or so and there doesn’t appear to be any golfers on the horizon that has all the tools that Tiger Woods has.

The American Music Awards 3 hour show last night was pretty entertaining to watch. Chris Daughtry had a good night racking up awards and I really like the Duran Duran performance. While the room was full of stars like Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Kid Rock, Amanda Bynes, Ferige and Rascal Flats, the brightest star shining was Carie Underwood. She won 3 awards last night and these awards are voted on by the fans, so they probably mean more to the stars than some of the other award shows.

Wearing an unusual white dress the young country star made her way up to the stage on 3 different occasions. Each time she spoke after winning an award, you could tell there was a genuine appreciation for the award she had just won. Justin Timberlake’s via satellite speeches were weak and you could tell that he could care less about the American Music Awards show. I think it’s that southern hospitality that Carie Underwood has, is the reason she is where she is at right now. I also think it will play a huge factor in where she goes from here. I think Justin’s popularity is going to take a huge backslide as his two speeches had very little motivation in them and the fact that he didn’t feel like this award show was important enough to be there for in the first place.

Congratulations to Carie Underwood for a job well-done and representing the other country music artists that are out there too.

That is the way the countdown has gone to this point. We now get one step closer to the greatest video ever! The 4th video on the list is all about two music worlds colliding. Back in the day, you either liked heavy metal or rap. There was no line between the two and I didn’t know of anyone that liked both. These two groups came together and showed us just what would happen if rap ever got together with heavy metal. The video is great, because it shows both groups practicing on their own music and driving each other crazy, because they are neighbors at their respected music studios. This was a ground breaking video for rap music and heavy metal music and after the world got a load of this video, rap nor heavy metal would never be the same again.

4th Best Video Ever

Aerosmith and Run DMC both did a great job and pulling this video off. I think the heavy metal fans and the rap fans both liked this video and it brought respect to both musical talents. Today we see a lot of cross-breeding, but I always look back at this video as the pioneer to videos like Tim McGraw and Nelly performing Over and Over Again.

I’m surprised that we don’t have to pay for email stamps these days. Nobody writes letters like they use to, when you can communicate a lot faster and cheaper by emails. The Post Office must be losing millions of dollars, due to the fact that everybody has an email address these days. Not to mention, that many people use the internet to pay their bills online and this is less bill-paying that goes on through the Post Office. It might get to the point one day, where we don’t even need our mailboxes anymore. They might just become collector’s items or something we show school kids one day, of things we use to have sticking up at the end of our driveways. I know emails save the environment and less trees we have to cut down for paper, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone doesn’t invent the email stamp one day. So enjoy the free emails while they last!

The Atlanta Hawks are my favorite basketball team and they have a tough match up in the Garden tonight. If you haven’t heard by now, Boston is the center of the universe right now in the sports world. They have one of the best NFL teams ever in the New England Patriots, who just knocked off the defending Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts. You pair this with the World Series Champ Boston Red Sox and this would give any city or state reason to celebrate. It only gets better when you factor in the Boston College Eagles football team that is tops in the ACC this year and you have pandemonium! But wait, there’s more…

You had a struggling basketball team last year in the Boston Celtics and they had high hopes for landing one of the top two picks in the NBA Draft this year and managed to fall to number 5. It left the Celtics out in the cold, until they made their off-season moves. They managed to get Ray Allen from the Sonics and brought in one of the top players from the NBA in Kevin Garnett. Now they are referred to as the Big 3 in Boston or the PGA Tour. It’s going to feel like a tour in the PGA, when other teams have to go into this hostile environment in the Boston Garden. The PGA (Pierce, Garnett, and Allen) Tour is going to be a ticket that everyone living near Boston is going to want to purchase. The Big Ticket (Kevin Garnett) is now on a team that is considered a “big ticket” to have in the area.

However, flying under the radar is my Atlanta Hawks. They are perfect against the East and West teams this year in the NBA. They can’t lose to the West and haven’t figured out; how to beat a team from the East yet. The East games have been on the road, while the Western Conference teams have played at Phillips Arena. So the Hawks are perfect on home and the road too! It’s not the perfect you won’t on the road or with the teams from the East, but now the Hawks have to face one of the toughest teams in the East so far this year.

The Denver Nuggets were a joke against the Celtics and many feel the Nuggets are a lot better team than the Atlanta Hawks are. I don’t think many people realize just how young and athletic these Hawks from Hotlanta are. While Boston might sport the big 3 in tonight’s game, we feel we have 8 to 10 guys that could compete for starting jobs on other NBA teams. It’s this depth that is going to be a huge factor for the Hawks tonight. Don’t look for the Celtics to run over the Atlanta Hawks, because the Hawks can beat you in more ways than just 3! This should be a good win for the Hawks tonight and will open up the eyes of the NBA community, when the Hawks become the first team to give Boston a tally in the loss column this year. ESPN has elected to not show any Hawks games this year and this might be one of the biggest mistakes a sports marketing agency has ever made. The Atlanta Hawks are for real!

Stephen King has done it again and judging by the previews, his new movie really looks good. The Mist by Stephen King will be in theatres November 21st and this is going to be one of those movies that will keep you in your seats. So be sure you get your popcorn and drinks before the movie starts.

It appears that this mysterious mist is going to trap people in a store and if anybody has the nerve to leave, the mist is going to get them. I can remember when a bad thunderstorm was in my area and a lot of people took shelter at a local store. There was an announcement that came over the crowd and was letting everyone know about the terrible weather that was coming our way. All the shoppers in the store waited patiently for the storm to blow over. The winds were very strong and a lot of screams yelled out when the lights went out. The winds from this particular storm were so powerful it blew down trees and power lines, and caused the supermarket lights to go out. They did have emergency lights in place, but they didn’t put out much light. The whole store was very dim and you could just hear the wind outside snapping small branches off the trees. The thunder and lightning from the storm didn’t help things out either. The storm lasted about 15 to 20 minutes, but it felt like it was longer than that. Nobody was hurt and the store’s employees did a good job in keeping everyone calm.

I’m not sure the Mist is going to have the same results. It looks like people will be more than just terrified in this new movie that Stephen King has created. I thought the Fog was a pretty good movie and this movie seems to have a lot of the same characteristics as the Fog did.

This band brought a new style of music to the scence. Their lead singer is no longer with us, and no telling what the music world has missed out on, with his early death. This band put out so many great songs during the 90’s and they deserve a spot on my top 10 countdown.

The music world really lost a great talent when Kurt Cobain ended his life so short and suddenly. This song Smells Like Teen Spirit was from their 1991 album called Nevermind. It was a great song from the “grunge” era. Other great grunge bands were Green River, Corrosion of Conformity, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. Nirvana’s brief run ended in with Cobain’s death in April 1994. Since Nirvana’s debut, the band has sold over fifty million records worldwide and even today their music is still being played on the radio.

So Nirvana makes the list of my top 10 countdown of videos. Only 4 remain and it should be interesting to see which singers or bands fill up those final 4 spots on my top 10 countdown.
