Start Spreading the News…

Do you want to go to New York City? If you’re heading into the City for the first time; then you want to make sure you don’t miss anything. Taking one of the New York City bus tours is a good way to see everything. You don’t want to miss any of the important landmarks or sites in the City, so finding a tour guide would be smart with so much to see in New York.

Using the subway system in New York is another good way to see all the things the City has to offer. You can see where all the real New Yorkers go and many times this is much better than a bus tour! You can bring your friends, co-workers, family, or any type of groups that you might be associated with on one of these subway tours of New York City. I hope to be able to see the Statue of Liberty someday, because I think that all Americans should see that in their lifetime. So I will be planning my trip to New York City in the coming years and I’m sure I will take a few different tourist rides through the City.

BCS Doubts

I know this is going to be the topic every college football year, until they get smart and put in a playoff system in college football. They say they are too many games that involve the big bucks and I think they could have them and a playoff system too. Just finish your bowl games, take the 8 top teams and play 3 extra weekends to decide the overall champion. I know we would still have controversy in deciding which teams would make those 7th and 8th spots and would leave a team out that might deserve one of those spots, but at least we are leaving a team out there and not the top overall team in the country.

If the BCS is so good, why don’t we get their standings after week 1? I think I have a pretty good idea why, and the truth be known, IT ISN’T FAIR! The ACC is the best division in college football and the SEC is second behind them. There is only 2 teams in the ACC ranked in the top 25 and the Big East has 3 teams. South Florida is 6-0 and ranked 2nd in the country and the BCS thinks they deserve a higher rank than the 3rd place Boston College team that is 7-0 in the ACC?

Virginia is 6-1 and they are not even ranked in the top 25 and you have Texas Tech and Cincinnati that are 6-1 and both of those teams are ranked? Too much love is being given to the Pac 10, Big East, and the Big 12 divisions and these teams would never survive in an ACC or SEC schedule.

USC recruits might want to think twice before going to sunny California. The Trojans are sure to get caught in their unfair recruiting practices and what all the rich boosters do to intice young athletes to attend the USC school. The Trojans have too many people with money and in the media working for them and an investigation needs to be done into their recruiting practices. Even with the guys they get and their weak schedule, they still can’t manage to go perfect and it just shows that the USC team hasn’t really been good for the last decade.

If the BCS numbers came out after week 1, you would clearly see the Big East, Pac10 and the Big 12 teams all sitting high on the hog. The people in charge of these BCS computers know this and that’s why they wait over a month of college football being played to release these numbers. They know in time it doesn’t look as bad and it blends in, but it really doesn’t. The SEC and ACC can’t produce undeafeated teams, because they do have to battle each other in tougher competition, than a PAC 10 team does. A PAC 10 team like USC should be undeafeated every year, because they don’t play against nobody and they get good recruits from all over the country, due to ABC putting their games on Nationally every week. It’s funny with the cards stacked so much in their favor, they still can’t produce a championship team. No way do they beat Auburn when they went undefeated a few years back, with Jason Campbell as the quarterback.

Let’s get the politics out of the college football arena and let’s set up the playoffs in college football, so we can expose these weak teams like an USC or West Virginia team that has no business in the top 25 in the country.

If you’re a college football fan and you want to see a playoff system, it’s really simple. Just don’t go to any of the bowl games. If the fans will ban these bowl games (which you can still watch them on television); then we could see a playoff system in college football. This also goes for the sponsors of these events and they can help too!

Vegetables Is For Long Life

I know those meat products are good but the vegetables is what our bodies like the most. They break down so much better in our bodies than a lot of the meats we eat each day. I think vegetables are the garden of life and with that garden you can live a long life. Variety is the best diet you can have. The more things that you can consume that are different, is the better chance you’re getting essential nutrients for the body. Our skin is a big reflection on the things we eat and a healthy looking appearance is often due to a good balance diet. Try to eat fewer meats for the next few weeks, while increasing the vegetables you eat. See if you don’t feel and look much better!

Your Lottery Car

Everyone that wins the lottery always buys a real nice car. So what type of car would you like? I’m not really sure exactly which one I would buy, but I would want a truck for hauling stuff and a sports car for looks. I’m not sure if I would purchase a third vehicle, which would probably be a SUV type vehicle, because I wouldn’t want to be paying insurance on cars I wasn’t driving that often.

I do like the Ford cars and the Mustang suspension is second to none. So the Mustang might just be the sports car I would buy and I would probably stay in the Ford family and buy a Ford truck too. How many cars would you buy if you won the lottery? I know you could afford a lot of them, but would you really want to have more cars than you could drive? I hate wasting money and if I was driving a car only once or twice a week and having to pay full coverage insurance on it; I would feel like I was wasting money. So 2 would probably be all the vehicles I would buy with my lottery money.

Elton John #1 Song of All Time

Ok, I finally made it to number 1! I haven’t heard any complaints yet, so maybe I got this Elton John top 5 thing down ok? Hey Elton……if you’re reading this and you see my top 5 songs for you, please let me know how I done? I would love to hear how you would rank your top 5 songs!

Now is there really any doubts to what Elton John’s number 1 song of all time really is? There should only be one song that you think of, when you hear the name “Elton John”. I think Sir Elton John made this song so good that it’s not only being played on the radio still today, but I would imagine I will hear this song on the radio for the rest of my life. I won’t bore you with any more details and I will just go ahead and unleash the best song ever by Elton John!

The Number 1 Song by Elton John

Did you guess the right song for number 1? Did I pick the right one?

Yes, that is Elton John’s number 1 song of all time. It was a song dedication to one of the most popular actresses ever in America. Marilyn Monroe is just as big now, if not bigger when she was alive. She’s a jewel in many American’s Hearts and all of her accomplishments still live today, much like Elvis Pressley. The interesting thing about Candle in the Wind, was how a British Singer thought so highly of an American Actress to sing this song so beautifully and passionately; the way Elton John sung it.

It gets even more amazing when this song got brung back to life. A song that was dear to so many Americans and helped them cope with losing someone like Marilyn Monroe; was once again the medicine for another country. This time the trajedy struck in England, where Elton John is from and it was when they lost Princess Diana to a horrible automobile accident.

That horrible day will never be forgot by the British or American people and still so many questions still remain unanswered about that horrible crash that took the life of someone so young and still had so much more to give to the world in Princess Diana. It was unthinkable to think Elton John could use Candle In the Wind and turn around the lyrics to pay a tribute to Princess Diana. Not only did he do it, but the song for Princess Diana is just as good as the original one. So when you hear Candle In the Wind and you hear the name Norma Gene; you can rest assure many people will only think of Marilyn Monroe and now Princess Diana.

I don’t know how you did this Sir Elton, but my hats off to ya mate! So no way do I leave this 2nd edition of Candle In the Wind off, without paying tribute to both women that this song deals with. I’m not sure that any one man has ever brought two countries more together; than this one song that Elton John did for an American Beauty and a Princess from England.

Labs Are the Smartest Dogs

I know there is many different types of retrievers, when it comes to dogs. I think the Labrador Retrievers are the best and these dogs are so smart. I use to deliver pizza and while delivering pizza, I could ring the doorbell at someone’s home and the labs would come up to me and sit right beside me, waiting for someone to come to the door. They knew when that doorbell rang, somebody from inside would be coming to the door.

I also use to have a boss that could throw out these orange little floats that were for the water. He could just throw them out in a parking lot and with a whistle in his mouth, he could get the labs to retrieve those floats. The dogs were trained to go after the float on the first sound of the whistle, but if he blew it again, then the dog would stop in it’s tracks and just look at the float. He could also point to which float he wanted and sure enough the dog would go to that particular float.

I have also seen labs that would fetch anything you threw. You could throw a stick in the woods and the Labrador retrievers will bring back that exact stick you threw. It’s really amazing when you think of how many other sticks there is in the woods and for that dog to bring back the exact stick you threw is really amazing. I guess they do it with smell, and it just makes you wonder how good does these dogs really smell? It’s not like your throwing a stick that you have been carrying around all day with you. You could just pick up any old stick and only a brief odor would be able to get on that stick, but apparently that is enough when the lab runs off to find that stick you threw. There are no doubts in my mind that Labrador Retrievers are the smartest breed of them all, when it comes to well-trained dogs.

APA Pool Leagues

I would like to join a league in Georgia that is associated with the APA. If you have a team or know of a team that needs players, then please leave a reply. I have never played in a pool league before, but I have been shooting pool since I was 14 years-old. I have a understanding of how the leagues work and would love to play in one sometime.

I think it would be fun playing on a team. Most teams will play one certain night each week at a place that isn’t too far from home. If your team does really well in one of these APA sanctioned events; then you have the chance to go to Las Vegas with your team. How exciting would it be to go out to Las Vegas and play in a pool tournament?

If you play in an APA League or have in the past, then feel free to share your stories with me. Let me know how your league worked, where you played at, and how did your team do in the APA League? Pool is a great way to spend the evening and they say the more you play the better you get at it.

Elton John #2 Song

Well were almost done with the 5 greatest songs by Elton John. I have already done the fifth, fourth, and thrid best songs ever by Elton John! So now I get to put in the 2nd best song ever by Elton John. This is one of the first songs that come to my mind when I think about Elton John.

This song was on the 1972 Album Honky Chateau. In 2004 Rolling Stone made a list of the 500 Greatest Songs of all time and this song was number 242 on the list and it ranks 2nd on my list of the best songs ever by Elton John. The song has been in cartoons like Family Guy and Futurama, as well as other popular cartoons. A baseball pitcher that is popular in New York and Houston would have this song playing at the ball park, every time he got brought out of the game. So to bring back a little bit of that music from 1972, here is the final song on the countdown, before we get to the top Elton John song of all time.

2nd Best Song by Elton John

So there you have the 2nd greatest song ever by Elton John!

There’s no room now for anymore songs, except for the best one ever. That is what will be up next and we will find out which song goes to number 1 on the countdown! The pitcher that was mentioned above was Roger Clemens just in case if you were wondering which pitcher I was talking about. So hang around and see what song I give the top honors to for number 1. Feel free to tell me the way you would rank the 5 best songs ever by Elton John.

Addiction Problems

If you or somebody you know is addicted to drugs or alcohol, then you might need outside help. Taking on the problem by your self is not always the easiest or smartest way to go about taking care of an addiction problem. Getting professional help is the best way to deal with an addiction situation and trying to find a drug rehab for the person that needs it, just might save their life. An addiction problem can tear up a whole family and destroy a person’s life, if they don’t get help soon enough. Never put off for tomorrow, what you can do for today. If you’re reading this message and know someone that could use some help, then go find some! There is help out there and just a little researching on the internet and I’m sure you can find someone that will help!

Cumming, Georgia Fair

A big fair is currently going on in Cumming, Georgia; located right behind the Tyson Chicken Plant in downtwown Cumming. They have lots to do for the whole family, with rides, games, food, and shows going on constantly. I was amazed at all the things they had to do. They have skybuckets that go across the fair, a show called All the Kings Horses, a dirt bike show, and concerts. The Charlie Daniels Band will be playing Wednesday October 10th at 8PM. You only have to pay the 5 dollar admission price at the door and all the shows inside are FREE! It’s a great bargain for the whole family and kids under 18 get in for 2 dollars. Saturday the 13th, you can get in for free at 10AM til 11AM and all the rides will be free for that hour. From 11 to 3 that day, two people can ride for the price of 1.

One of the best things there is the clown at the dunking booth. He calls everyone names, as they try to throw baseballs and dunk him. The clown is a bit on the adult side of what he says, but for the most part its all in good fun. A mechanical bull is there that all ages can ride, but you must sign a form before you ride and kids will need to get an adult signature. This is not your typical local fair and the city of Cumming should be proud of the event they got going on right now in Cumming. I was amazed at just how much they was to do and see on Saturday and there is still time to go, for anyone wanting to go check it out. The fair will be openning nightly until October 14th and if you live within an hour of Cumming, it’s well worth making the trip for. I live about 40 minutes away and I plan to go back on Wednesday to see the Charlie Daniels Band perform at the fair.

Video games and systems just keep coming out every year and we keep buying them every year and there is good reason why; they are fun! Marta From Brazil Soccer

070924_marta_vmed_2p_widec.jpg

While the women’s World Cup has just wrapped up with Germany beating Brazil in the championship game 2 -0, a star has emerged. Her name is Marta Vieira da Silva, but you can just call her Marta. Her speed and techniques are in the class of Mia Ham another well-known soccer player from the USA. However there is one big exception when you compare Marta to Mia Ham and that would be the age factor. Marta is only 21 years old and I think most people in the world has put her as the best woman in the world in soccer!

She was the leader on that Brazil team and a big reason why they made it to the finals. One of her most impressive goals in the World Cup came against the USA Team. She cut through the USA Defense like it was a piece of butter and she was the hot knife. This young lady has a whole nation behind her back and she is going to be a force to wrecken with for any female soccer team in the 2008 Olympics. As impressive as the Germans were in shutting down Brazil in the World Cup Finals, you just have to believe in another year that Marta is going to be unstopable on that Brazil team.

Marta has been playing soccer since she was 7 years-old. Her heros growing up were Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, and Ronaldo. I’m not sure how good these players were, but if they were half the player Marta is, then they must have been pretty special. The American Team had not been beat in years and won their last 51 games or so before they ran into this phenom from South America. Brazil ran away with the game and the USA Team looked lost for most of it, while they stayed at their end of the field, just trying to block the shots coming from the Brazil players. Marta is a difference maker and is going to be a very rich young girl soon as the USA League is trying to land her in the states to play. If you guys thought Beckham was good and made an impact, wait until the Americans get a look at Marta!

The Restaurants of Swansea

If you ever have the opportunity to be in Wales, be sure to check out their 2nd largest city in Swansea. The river Tawe runs right through the middle of Swansea City and would be a great way for you to make your entrance into the beautiful city. Be sure to bring your appetite when you go to Swansea, and at least try one swansea restaurant. You will find that many of the restaurants carry fresh seafood and some have an international flavor to them. French haute cuisine, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Spanish, Indian, and American style Chowder House are just some of the foreign flavors you can get from the restaurants in Swansea. You will want to also make sure you try the local food like Bara Gorsaf Tywydd, Bara Brith, Crempogs, and Salt Marsh Lamb to just name a few. If you have ever been to Wales before, then please share your stories and reply to this post. Thanks!

Hockey Season Starts Tonight

The Atlanta Thrashers start their season tonight against the Washington Capitals. This is a tough first game, but at least we get to start at home this year. I can’t remember the last time the Thrashers started the season off at home. It just seems like we always had to start off on the road and it would seem more fair if the NHL took turns with teams.

Some of the key players that got the Thrashers to the playoffs are gone. Belanger and Tkachuk are gone and are replaced by some other not so big names. You still have that core that the Atlanta fans will be counting on with Kovaluchuk, Kozlov, Hossa, and goaltender Kari Lehtonen. The coaches for the Thrashers believe the chemistry will be better than ever in Atlanta and it will show immediately. It will be interesting to see what type of a start the Thrashers can get off to. Washington has great young players and our defense will be tested in game 1 tonight at Phillips Arena. So let’s drop the puck and see how the season gets started for the Thrashers tonight!

Hawaiian Shirts for Going Slow

In this fast-paced world that we live in today, we miss so much because so many people are on the run and never stop to enjoy the moment. Mad Gringo wants to change that and they can send you a reminder with one of their great hawaiian shirts they offer. Why go fast, when you can go slow? Slow down to the comforts of life and start enjoying each day more, because after today is over, there is one less day left.

I have always loved wearing hawaiian shirts and they are comfortable to me. The material they are made of is so light and they just blow in the wind if you’re wearing one on the beach. It’s great to put on one of these shirts and just sit around and watch sports on the television all day. Maybe you like to grab a book on a rainy day and there’s no better way to do your reading with a shirt from Mad Gringo’s on.

They are so many great shirts to choose from at Mad Gringo. If I had to pick only one, I would probably go with the Sea Foam Tidepool. I like the bluish-green color in the shirt, along with all the other shades of green you have. Go find which one you would like the best and let me know which one you chose!

Most Surprising NL Team?

October has arrived and the fall baseball season is now in full effect. Post season baseball creates excitement in the air as the long baseball seson is now winding down to only a few remaining teams. The Philadelphia Phillies was favored to represent the National League this year in the World Series, after the post season teams had been annoucned. The Chicago Cubs was second on the list and now those predictions might be changing. The Colorado Rockies are up 2-0 in their series with the Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks are also up 2-0 with their matchup against the Cubs. So it looks like they are two surprising teams in the National League right now. You just have to win 3 games in this first round and it puts a lot of pressure on the Cubs and Phillies to win 3 straight now. Most people don’t believe anyone of them will do it and it will indeed be the Diamondbacks and Rockies playing in the 7 game series; to go to the World Series. So which team do you think is the most surprising in the National League?
