Which one of these L.A. teams is going to be the best this year? I know these two teams have been sharing the Staples Center in Los Angeles and I’m not sure if they will have to do that again this year or not. For two NBA teams to share a building like that is amazing and it takes a lot of careful planning by the NBA and the folks in LA. I’m sure they had to be as skilled as a Los Angeles plastic suregeon to pull that monumental task off.

Kobe Bryant is my favorite player, so I would probably give the edge to the Lakers. They also have a good point guard they drafted from Georgia Tech in Javaritis Creighton. I think he will make a difference and help the Lakers to advance deep in the playoffs this year. Trading Kobe might still be needed if this team can get enough draft picks and young players for him; so the Lakers could rebuild. You really can’t rebuild in a city like Los Angeles, but I’m not sure how much more they can expect Kobe to do everything by his self.

The Clippers need to stay healthy is their big thing. Keeping guys like Elton Brand and Shaun Livingston will be key for that team. They should be a fun team to watch this year, but they need to have everyone healthy to compete for a playoff spot in the tough Western Conference of the NBA. I see the Clippers winning 40 games, but you have to be real close to that 50 mark to get into the playoffs. The Clippers might need a mid-season trade or acquisition to help boost them.

So which L.A. team do you pick to have a better season? Can the Los Angeles teams win 100 games this year in the NBA? If these two teams combine for 100 wins, you can be sure that the Staples Center will be a very popular place when the post-season comes around in 2008.

The number 8 video comes in on the list for its unique way this video was shot. You have one person in a car, acting like they are 4 different people. Also, they are all four singing in this video and it must have taken a lot of time to get this video shot just right. I think we all have to make a long trip in our cars sometime. Finding things to entertain us or maybe keeping us awake is a key on a long drive. I think the artist captures that in this video and gives us an idea of where her mind is while she is making her trip through a place covered in snow.

Each character in this video has their own personality. The driver seems to be the responsible one and the one in the front seat on the passenger side, seems a bit shy. It seems like there is a point in this video where she turns it loose and the girls in the back seat seem surprised but they cheer her on. The driver does her best to control the girl’s unleashed emotions, but then again she is that girl, because all 4 girls in the car is the same person.

This is Alanis Morisette and the song is called Ironic. Now many people believe the song doesn’t hold up to its title. Many feel that the examples given in the song are not ironies and it takes away from the song. Alanis did respond to this:

“For me the great debate on whether what I was saying in ‘Ironic’ was ironic wasn’t a traumatic debate. I’d always embraced the fact that every once in a while I’d be the malapropism queen. And when Glen and I were writing it, we definitely were not doggedly making sure that everything was technically ironic. It’s a testament to the fact that we didn’t think it was going to be put under the microscope by 30 million people. For me the sweetest moment came in New York when a woman came up to me in a record store and said, ‘So all those things in the ‘Ironic’ aren’t ironic.’ And then she said, ‘And that’s the irony.” I said, ‘Yup.’ To me it’s a real snapshot of a nineteen-year-old’s definition and version of how life worked at the time. I liked the video on its creativity aspect. It’s amazing that somebody could have thought up a video like this and to pull it off so successfully. It’s a great video and definitely deserves a spot on the top 10 video countdown of all time. So what video will be next? I see two of my favorite things came together over the weekend. Kid Rock who was performing near Atlanta at a place called Tabernacles, decided to stop by for a late night lunch. It was at a Waffle House; which stays open 24 hours a day and at this Waffle House a man came in yelling at a woman with Kid Rock. Now the man left and went outside and broke a window with his fist. After the window got broken; is when Kid Rock and his people ran into the parking lot at this Waffle House. A fight then broke out and several people were arrested and this included the famous Detroit Rock Star. Kid Rock did make bail, but his mug shot is now being shown all over the internet and the news channels.

I like a lot of Kid Rock songs and wish I could have seen him at the Tabernacle. The event was sold out and went pretty late into the night. It was around 3 or 4 AM on Sunday Morning when Kid Rock and his people stopped at this Waffle House. The Waffle House is a great place to cure the late night munchies. They have more than just waffles and you can get hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, or you can eat the breakfast menu at anytime during the day or night. The hashbrowns are really great and you can add a variety of toppings to them. You can get them smothered, scattered, covered, etc…, that’s the fancy way of describing what type of toppings you want on your hashbrowns. The chili is world-famous and that’s one of the things that many will add to their hasbrowns. Maybe Kid Rock had a chance to enjoy his  scattered and smothered hashbrowns before he got taken to jail.

A new article is coming out in New York Magazine and it profiles a person that might be the famous DB Cooper. A man that hijacked an airplane over 30 years ago and requested a large amount of money and parachutes. He would later jump out of the airplane and the man and most of the money would never be heard of again. The new article shows what the FBI thinks is the most likely suspect in the DB Cooper investigation. This is the only skyjacking that remains unsolved in U.S. History. There has been a movie made about this incident and it was released in the early 80’s. It stars Treat Williams and it takes more of a comical view toward this situation and not a lot of historical data is used in the movie. I would like to see someone from Hollywood that would take a more serious approach and use all the information we now know about this skyjacking and make a new movie about D.B. Cooper. The mystery of this man still being alive is as popular as the men that escaped Alcatraz in the ealy 60’s. Most people believe that D.B. Cooper and the escapees from Alcatraz would have to be dead, because there is no way that something this big could remain silent all these years, without someone speaking out.

It’s easier to exercise in the summer time as compared to the winter. You can do a lot of outdoor activities in the summer and it’s easier to burn those extra calories in the summer. When the weather gets cold you have to find new ways on how to shed those extra pounds. This gives us extra excuses on why we don’t need to work out today. It’s these extra excuses that get us in trouble. It’s easy to find excuses on why we shouldn’t exercise and it’s important to eliminate the excuses.

So you can’t run outside anymore? You can still hit the treadmill indoors and get that part of your exercise routine taken care of. It’s okay if you do less in the winter time, but just make sure its not too much less. Avoid those extra excuses as the air gets cooler and try to find new ways to burn the same calories as you would outdoors. If you can stay away from the excuses; you will be able to stay away from those extra pounds this winter!

Who is going to win the game between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts? I can’t wait for this game, which will happen on Sunday, November 4th. It will be even better if both of these teams are still undefeated when they face each other. There is a strong possibility it might be a battle between two undefeated teams. I think the whole country will be watching this game and I know every NFL fan will be setting in their leather home theater seating with their snacks close by watching this one.

This game will be better than the Super Bowl this year! I just can’t see any NFC team giving the Colts or Patriots a run for their money. So I think the best 2 teams in the NFL this year is the Pats and Colts, so November 4th will be the Super Bowl in my opinion. I just hope both teams come in healthy and we get to see who is better. If a Tom Brady, Randy Moss,  or Peyton Manning couldn’t play; it wouldn’t give us a good idea of which team is really better. So who do you think will win this match up?

Have you had a chance to watch the Bionic Woman yet? It comes on NBC on Wednesday Nights and comes on at 9PM. It’s not that bad of a show, but it’s very different from the original one. Jamie Summers is the name of the Bionic Woman and that’s about the only part that has stayed the same. You don’t get to hear those cool sound effects when she uses her bionic skills like you had with the original series. Also we have another bionic woman that is more powerful than Jamie Summers right now.

It was pretty good last week. She had to go rescue a hostage in a foreign country. So they flew her down with a CIA agent and they broke into the place where the hostage was being held. She had to stop this big fan that was in the wall and bend its blade back to go through it. This fan wasn’t like your normal ceiling fans and it was more like an industrial fan you would find at a factory. She was a little nervous before she stopped the blades from turning, but eventually she stuck her bionic arm out there and stopped this huge fan. I do like the show a little better now, compared to when it first came out. I just don’t like the fact that it’s different from the original one, but if you never watched the original one; you should enjoy this one just fine!

We are currently involved in a meteor shower. Orionids is the name of it and the experts think that the peak hour for this will be around 5AM on Sunday, October 21st. It should last into November with most of the night hours averaging about 5 per hour. The moon will set at 1:30 AM on Sunday and this should give the sky a darker look making it easier to see the meteors. If you live in the city or have any type of light pollution that might be near you; seek a place from the bright lights. Get out of the city and go to a remote place where you can see the stars real clear in the sky. This will be the best way to witness this meteor shower.

I guess if some of these new light bulbs work forever, we can just put the old light bulbs in the cabinet hardware drawer and forget about them. I’m sure if they get hit or something like that, it’s safe to say they won’t. However, if you can screw these new light bulbs in and they will last for years, they might be on to something. I think it’s important we continue to look for more energy efficient products, but I bet thousands and thousands of light bulbs are made daily. If these new bulbs would at least last a year, we could save lots of energy just from the production of light bulbs. I don’t think the people working in these industries would like that much and job security might look bleak for them in the future. So it’s not a win/win situation, but it’s exciting to think you can buy light bulbs that will last for years!

You remember Christmas mornings? When you would wake up, and then rush over to wake up your brothers or sisters and see what Santa had brought? Well you can really make that first impression great with an animal inflatable. Give Santa a little help this year and try getting one of these huge animals and inflating them by the Christmas tree. When the kids wake up and see this big animal with all their wrapped gifts around it; you will have created a memory that will last forever. I can remember a couple of Christmas’s and my first thoughts were about how the presents were displayed for me when I woke up and seen Santa had been to the house. There is doubts you can create that same magic this Christmas, if you can have one of these giant inflatable animals waiting for your children on Christmas Morning.

On our way to the best video of all time, we stop and reflect on number 9 right now. At number 10 we had the best thing Canada has to offer in Avril Lavigne. Oh wait, isn’t Pamela Anderson from Canada? So it’s the 2nd best thing to come out of Canada and wasn’t a female whailing about a sinking ship. Avril captured the 10th best video of all time and now we move up to number 9 on the list.

This band formed in the backwoods of Georgia and became a world-wide success. Many consider this band to be one of the pioneers of Alternative Music. They had big hits with Stand, Orane Crush, and Losing My Religion. Thier top video might give you “rapid eye movement” as you try to read the subtitles going by, but I think we can all complain about something. The band believes hurt is just a part of life and they show it in the 9th top video of all time.

Billiards has always been a favorite past time of mine. I haven’t played much serious pool in the last few years, but I’m looking to get back into it. I would like to join a pool league and have a pool night each week. It’s fun to play in a pool league if you have never done it before. I am willing to play 8 or 9 ball; I just want to get back in the action of playing pool.

I don’t have a pool stick right now, so I was doing a little shopping online for one. I found a great selection of pool cues from PoolDawg.com. I was amazed at all the brands and the price range they had for their cues. Now the hard part will be selecting just one pool cue to get. I really like some of the higher priced ones, but I think I will have to find one that fits my budget better.

One stick that I really like is the Viking G02 Green Stained Pool Cue. I use to have a Viking and really like the way they play. I prefer a heavier stick and would get this at about 21 ounces. It also comes with a free gift where you can choose something like a pool glove or soft pool case. I think I would take the free soft case as my gift. This stick is normally $180 but Pool Dawg has them for under $150 right now!  I don’t think I can pass up on a bargain like that and they have all of their pool cues or most of them marked down right now. So if you’re looking at new pool cues like me; you might want to see what Pool Dawg has to offer.

The baby boomers are all getting set to retire and we are going to hear a lot about how much money you will need for retirement over the next few years. I’m going to guess that most baby boomers won’t be prepared for life after retirement. We are just living longer and feeling better after the retirement age these days. This makes that nest egg run out before we do. You can just look at companies that have trouble with succession planning and see how it’s hard to plan for the future. Many companies don’t prepare to replace key employees they have in their workforce and it shows when they have people to retire or just move on to another job.

Don’t make the same mistake like so many companies do and take care of your own personal self. Your 401K is not enough to carry you through your golden years and you need stocks, bonds, money market funds with high interest rates, and other investment vehicles to give you more money for retirement. That Social Security Check isn’t going to be much either and that’s saying if it’s even around when you decide to retire. The older you’re now is the safer you need to be with your investments. Just understand what I mean about old. If you’re under 50 years of age, then you’re not too old for the small cap mutual funds and small cap companies that you could be investing into with your extra money now. You can be aggressive with your investments while still in your forties. Once you turn 50, you do need to start limiting your exposure to the smaller companies and higher risk investments. However, you don’t have to totally take all your money out at 50. Just start making small moves with your money into safer investments like mid-cap companies and mutual funds. It’s never too late to start investing and plan your nest egg to last for decades after retirement!

How nice would it be to live on the beach? Or maybe just have your own private island? I think it would be nice for awhile, but might get old later on. It just always seems like the best way to describe paradise; is to have the sand of a beach, palm trees, blue waters, and a ocean breeze. That just seems like the best life in the world for anybody that doesn’t get to be around the beach much. I do enjoy my time there, if I am only staying in the Condo Hotels that line up and down the beaches. Maybe one day I will run into the riches of the world and can afford a stay on the beach, but for now it will just be the once a year vacations that I go on, to get me to the beach for paradise!

I just got to thinking the other day and notice I didn’t see as many poker shows on television anymore. It seemed like for a while there, you could turn on any channel and see some type of poker game on. I think they have did stars of the present and past, athletes, and other themes to get people watching these poker shows. I guess they are losing their popularity some and not as many people tuning in, because you don’t see them that much anymore.

Texas Hold’em is the game of choice and that is how most of these shows play. I like the game and it does take a unique strategy to win at it, along with luck. The regular poker where you might have 5 card stud or 5 card draw, is the more set ways of playing poker and what most are acustomed to when thinking about poker. That might be different these days and a new generation might think of Texas Hold’em as the way to play poker and Kenny Rogers way in the Gambler is just another way to play poker. There has to be a good way to play this style of poker, because many of the top players in the world seem to finish high in every big poker tournament they get into. Just deal me 5 cards and let me draw 3 new ones if I want and 4 if I have the ace, that’s poker to me!

OH you better watch out! You better not cry! I’m a telling you why, Santa Clause is coming to town. Well it might seem just a bit early for Christmas, because it’s still so hot outside, but its coming. While most stores will be gearing up for the upcoming Halloween season, some stores already have Christmas orders being delivered. Yes, I am going to bring you the top 10 videos of all time over the next few weeks. I have a unique criteria for selecting my top 10 videos. The videos have to be good, unique, interesting, funny, or something that grabs your attention. So that is one thing I am looking for. I am also going to be showing two videos for 1 artist that might have had 2 solid videos, but none of them were a top 10 on their own. So an artist that put out two solid videos could earn a spot in my top 10 video countdown. My last way of determining which video makes the cut is just personal taste/popularity. I will take my own personal taste into account, but will take others if the video was really popular and maybe I didn’t think it was a top 10 video. So some of the videos might be of the majority ruling and not my own personal choice. I think all of these factors combined will result in the top video of all time.

Is Thriller by Michael Jackson going to be number 1? I realize that video usually always wins in these video contest, so I am going to elect to leave the Thriller video out. It would not win my top 10 video award, but I would probably fit that video in on my top 10. Don’t worry Michael, I think I still have room to slide ya in on the countdown, without your award-winning Thriller video in the running.

So let’s get to the 10th best video in the world. Right away I’m going to give a double video award to this artist for the 10th spot on the countdown. This artist doesn’t have a top 10 video, but does have two solid videos out. These videos are fun to watch and they have a good positive message with them. They are both similar to what that message is, but they are different in their approaches to that message. If that makes sense?

The message is love. We all find it sometime in our lifetime and the results happen many different ways. This artist captures a message in this first video that makes you want to clinch your fist together and root for the underdog, because that underdog in the future becomes successful.  It’s all about the attitude and the music is very catchy as well; is why I am ranking this video and 1 more by this artist as the 1oth best video of all time.

I don’t think either one of these videos are top 10 material by their self, but combining them both together gives this artist a firm position in my top 10 videos of all time!
